It is not about downgrading AMD 's `` accident in emergencies, it is | :00:43. | :00:50.
about upgrading them. A man who stabbed his partndr | :00:51. | :01:11.

of the dead woman's money. Paul Chadwick is currently being | :01:16. | :01:17.
held at a secure mental health unit but was allowed out today to | :01:18. | :01:20.
argue his case in court. Our Chief Reporter Dave | :01:21. | :01:23.
Guest has the story. Lisa Clay and her little box Joseph | :01:24. | :01:27.
were stabbed to death in thdir own home in the Lancashire vill`ge of | :01:28. | :01:31.
Bolton`le`Sands in April last year. He was Lisa's partner | :01:32. | :01:33.
of 11 years and Joseph's dad. He admitted manslaughter | :01:34. | :01:37.
on the grounds of diminished responsibility and is currently | :01:38. | :01:39.
detained in a secure unit. But now Chadwick wants to gdt his | :01:40. | :01:41.
hands on the money Lisa left behind. Most of Lisa's money was tidd up | :01:42. | :01:44.
in the house they shared. Chadwick's already entitled to half | :01:45. | :01:47.
of the sale value Now he wants the rest, | :01:48. | :01:50.
plus other cash totalling ?80,0 0. He appeared at the High Court in | :01:51. | :01:53.

the court Chadwick's mental health For the process to continue and the | :01:57. | :02:12.
grieving period never to end is causing significant upset. | :02:13. | :02:20.

The law says that those responsible for Mansell at cannot benef`ctors | :02:36. | :02:46.

The Labour Party conference is in full swing in Manchester with | :03:24. | :03:26.
the party outlining its economic strategy today. | :03:27. | :03:27.
Party members are focused on how to win next year's general election. | :03:28. | :03:30.
But the first electoral test will be the | :03:31. | :03:32.
Heywood and Middleton by`eldction in just over a fortnight. | :03:33. | :03:34.
Our Political Editor Arif Ansari joins us from the conferencd. | :03:35. | :03:47.
Labour's officially launched its campaign for the by`election today. | :03:48. | :03:55.
Labour have speeded up the process for this by`election as thex are | :03:56. | :04:00.
worried that you kept could gain momentum if they don't `` UKIP. The | :04:01. | :04:08.
funeral took place over the weekend and we are hearing rumours that some | :04:09. | :04:11.
within the local party have resigned because they are angry at the fact | :04:12. | :04:16.
they weren't able to get local names on the candidates list so t`ke over | :04:17. | :04:21.
and stand as their official candidate. Their official c`ndidate | :04:22. | :04:25.
was launched today and she hs putting public services at the heart | :04:26. | :04:34.
of her campaign. Jim was a great supporter of the | :04:35. | :04:35.
I've spent over 30 years working for the NHS. | :04:36. | :04:40.
I've worked at Crumpsall Hospital and the Royal Northern Hosphtal | :04:41. | :04:42.
both of which are hospitals that have served this area. | :04:43. | :04:45.
I know the area well and I know what the people | :04:46. | :04:49.
in the communities are like here and I know what makes them tick and I | :04:50. | :04:53.
Interesting did you talk about the unrest. How worried is Labotr about | :04:54. | :05:07.
the election because it shotld be a safe seat in 3`D? | :05:08. | :05:12.
That's right. I think Labour is quite worried because those people I | :05:13. | :05:16.
spoke to last certainly concerned about it. There are five | :05:17. | :05:30.
candidates, five party standing it will be tightly fought parthcularly | :05:31. | :05:32.
between Labour and... Meanwhile, a Labour veteran | :05:33. | :05:40.
from the North West took his final It's his last time | :05:41. | :05:43.
at the conference as a Labotr MP. Please will you acknowledge | :05:44. | :05:55.
the presence of Jack Straw? A poignant moment for Mr Straw. His | :05:56. | :06:15.
son is standing in the north`west and we may be speaking to hhm on the | :06:16. | :06:17.
programme tomorrow. A former police officer has told the | :06:18. | :06:21.
new Hillsborough inquests that match commander, Chief Supt Duckenfield, | :06:22. | :06:24.
was "out of his depth." William Crawford, | :06:25. | :06:27.
who patrolled the Leppings Lane end, criticised the level of polhce | :06:28. | :06:29.
manpower at the stadium on the day. But that section of | :06:30. | :06:36.
his original statement was removed. Two men have been arrested | :06:37. | :06:38.
on suspicion of murdering a Lancashire teenager who h`s been | :06:39. | :06:40.
missing for seven years. Paige Chivers was 15 | :06:41. | :06:43.
when she disappeared in the Bispham Her body has never been found | :06:44. | :06:45.
but today police were searching addresses in Kincraig Place | :06:46. | :06:49.
and Duncan Avenue. The men, | :06:50. | :06:52.
aged 45 and 59 from Blackpool, Thousands of elderly | :06:53. | :06:53.
and vulnerable people in thd North West are being conned out of | :06:54. | :07:03.
their life savings by postal scams. tonight, | :07:04. | :07:08.
speak to the daughter of ond victim from the region, who receivdd 3 ,000 | :07:09. | :07:12.
scam letters over five years. A public consultation on major | :07:13. | :07:20.
changes to Accident and Emergency care across Greater Manchester is | :07:21. | :07:24.
entering its final week. The plans could mean seriously ill | :07:25. | :07:29.
patients are treated in one of a few specialist centres, | :07:30. | :07:31.
rather than at their local @ccident Those behind the Healthier Together | :07:32. | :07:34.
campaign say it will save lhves But opponents claim | :07:35. | :07:39.
the ?4 million consultation has been Joining us now is our Health | :07:40. | :07:42.
Correspondent, Elaine Dunkldy. This is the Healthier Together | :07:43. | :07:46.
consultation and it affects 2.8 million people | :07:47. | :07:49.
in Greater Manchester. So far, 10,000 people have filled | :07:50. | :07:54.
out this form to decide on which hospitals should treat the lost | :07:55. | :07:57.
serious cases of injury or trauma. Hospitals specialising | :07:58. | :08:03.
is nothing new. Across Merseyside and Cheshhre, | :08:04. | :08:06.
if you suffer a major head hnjury, you will be taken to the | :08:07. | :08:09.
Walton Centre which provides neurological care and there's the | :08:10. | :08:13.
Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. But in Greater Manchester the plan | :08:14. | :08:15.
is proving controversial thdre are concerns about downgrading | :08:16. | :08:18.
hospitals, travelling furthdr for medical treatment and of cotrse the | :08:19. | :08:22.
cost of implementing the ch`nges. It could be the biggest shake`up | :08:23. | :08:30.
of health care in Greater M`nchester From hospitals to Hindu temples | :08:31. | :08:33.
Healthier Together has been campaigning for change | :08:34. | :08:39.
and it's controversial. Under the proposals, Salford, | :08:40. | :08:48.
Oldham and Manchester Royal Infirmary will automaticallx be | :08:49. | :08:51.
specialist hospitals. It is not about closing A | :08:52. | :09:06.
departments or downgrading them it is about upgrading emergencx care | :09:07. | :09:10.
right across greater Manchester We need that care to be providdd 2 /7 | :09:11. | :09:14.
throughout the year. Raising standards and with ht the | :09:15. | :09:17.
chance of survival is a key issue. According to Healthier Together | :09:18. | :09:20.
only a third of hospitals has a consultant | :09:21. | :09:22.
present in A seven days a week. If you go to one hospital, his | :09:23. | :09:33.
chances of survival are thrde times greater than in the least wdll | :09:34. | :09:40.
performing hospital. That is truly shocking and unacceptable and we | :09:41. | :09:43.
know the same variation applies in so many other services. | :09:44. | :09:48.
The next thing I can remembdr is waking up, two or three weeks later. | :09:49. | :09:52.
Two weeks ago, Pete Lovett was in a coma after being hit bx a car. | :09:53. | :09:56.
He had suffered major head hnjuries but instead of going to his local | :09:57. | :10:00.
To be around so many professionals that concentrate on that ond area | :10:01. | :10:13.
can only be a good thing for me The public are being asked to | :10:14. | :10:18.
consider whether Wythenshawd, Stepping Hill, | :10:19. | :10:20.
Bolton and Wigan should also become specialist, but there is concern | :10:21. | :10:22.
that Healthier Together has been We've got a hugely expensivd | :10:23. | :10:35.
consultation paper that is hard to in won `` understand. We ard working | :10:36. | :10:46.
for the benefit of Greater Manchester. | :10:47. | :10:48.
With pressures on Accident and Emergency there needs to be | :10:49. | :10:50.
change but is this the right treatment for our local hospitals? | :10:51. | :11:04.
Is that the right treatment? Absolutely. All the doctors, the | :11:05. | :11:17.
hospital doctors and GPs, agree that by working together and pulling our | :11:18. | :11:23.
expertise, experience and skills, we can improve care, save even more | :11:24. | :11:28.
lives and do that seven days a week. Some people may ask why are | :11:29. | :11:37.
hospitals not good enough jtst now? People who work in accident and | :11:38. | :11:41.
emergency, the doctors and nurses, are doing their best in providing | :11:42. | :11:46.
good care. But that could bd better, they believe, and by pooling our | :11:47. | :11:50.
expertise, working together, we can save even more lives and attract | :11:51. | :11:56.
more people to Greater Manchester. More doctors and nurses to work | :11:57. | :12:00.
here. What about the hospitals th`t are in | :12:01. | :12:05.
specialist, what will they get? They would be able to attract thd best | :12:06. | :12:15.
and most be seen as substandard No, this is about providing greater | :12:16. | :12:21.
care across seven days a wedk. If you come in on Saturday evening or | :12:22. | :12:25.
Sunday or even Monday morning, you will have more chance of seding a | :12:26. | :12:28.
senior doctor and all the evidence shows that if you sure a more senior | :12:29. | :12:33.
doctor you have a better ch`nce of surviving and will get more care. | :12:34. | :12:37.
This consultation, 10,000 pdople have filled it out. Nearly 3 million | :12:38. | :12:43.
could have. It cost ?4 millhon to produce so that means each one of | :12:44. | :12:52.
these cost ?400. That can't be good use of money. | :12:53. | :12:56.
People are still responding to the consultation and it is important | :12:57. | :12:59.
they do. You must be disappointed by the | :13:00. | :13:02.
number of people and the waste of money. | :13:03. | :13:04.
No, lots of people are still responding. Responses are coming and | :13:05. | :13:12.
all the time. It is really hmportant that the GPs who make these | :13:13. | :13:18.
decisions hear what people think. It is our NHS. Thank you for coming | :13:19. | :13:27.
in. We will hear more on thhs subject on tomorrow night's | :13:28. | :13:30.
programme and for the rest of the week. | :13:31. | :13:38.
Police believe human remains which were discovered by a dog walker in | :13:39. | :13:40.

Lancashire Police says officers are in the process of recovering the | :13:46. | :13:48.
body which appears to have been there for some time. Mr Nield's | :13:49. | :13:51.
The go`ahead?s been given for a direct train service from Blackpool | :13:52. | :13:57.
to London. The Office of Rahl Regulation gave Virgin permhssion to | :13:58. | :14:00.
run a return trip every weekday The service is due to start in December. | :14:01. | :14:08.
Still to come on North West Tonight: Throwing it all away ` LVG needs | :14:09. | :14:11.
some TLC after United's shock defeat at Leicester. | :14:12. | :14:17.
And saved by the bell ` how rescuers got Henry out of a hole. | :14:18. | :14:39.
There's still no news tonight on the fate of Salford taxi driver Alan | :14:40. | :14:42.
Henning. The 47`year`old father`of`two was kidnapped by | :14:43. | :14:44.
Islamic State in Syria and hn a video last weekend they thrdatened | :14:45. | :14:47.
to kill him. Yesterday, Alan's wife made an impassioned plea for his | :14:48. | :14:56.
release, describing him as ` "peaceful and selfless man". Today, | :14:57. | :14:58.
one of his friends has calldd on the Government to do more to help him. | :14:59. | :15:02.
Earlier, I spoke to Dr Shamdela Islam`Zulfiqar and she gave me her | :15:03. | :15:05.
reaction to seeing him in the video. Up until now, we didn't know if he | :15:06. | :15:08.
was alive, didn't know what had happened to him, and all of a sudden | :15:09. | :15:12.
to see him the way he was in that picture in the desert, lookhng gaunt | :15:13. | :15:20.
and tired and frightened, it's been horrific to see that. We he`rd | :15:21. | :15:23.
yesterday, Alan's wife Barbra making a direct appeal for his reldase How | :15:24. | :15:25.
difficult has it been for the family and does it continue to be for her | :15:26. | :15:31.
It is incredibly difficult because there is so much | :15:32. | :15:38.
uncertainty around what is going on. What we are appealing for is that | :15:39. | :15:45.
the government pull out all the stops and do whatever they can. And | :15:46. | :15:58.
Do you wish they would pay a ransol if that | :15:59. | :16:00.
is what it would take? At the end of the day, I'm not suggesting that | :16:01. | :16:04.
something that has to be done to secure the release of hostages. | :16:05. | :16:06.
Clearly, in the past, that hs not what has happened. There has been | :16:07. | :16:10.
other negotiations and other forms of dialogue that have securdd the | :16:11. | :16:12.
release of other nations'. The French, the Italians, other people | :16:13. | :16:15.
have got hostages out. It is whether our government is open to h`ve | :16:16. | :16:18.
dialogue with these people to try and secure a safe release. How | :16:19. | :16:21.
helpful do you think it was over the last few days that leading figures | :16:22. | :16:24.
in the Muslim community havd made a direct appeal on Alan's beh`lf? We | :16:25. | :16:27.
hope that is something diffdrent in the case of the other hostages. They | :16:28. | :16:33.
will see that this guy really is what everyone is talking about. He | :16:34. | :16:47.
a normal, decent human being. A guy that we can all identify with and a | :16:48. | :16:53.
guy with a heart of gold th`t just went out there with the right | :16:54. | :17:07.
You have to almost block yourself off, don't | :17:08. | :17:11.
you, from rumours that swirl around the internet these days. Thdre was | :17:12. | :17:14.
one on Saturday night. You have to clutch onto the fact that nothing is | :17:15. | :17:21.
We take each day as it comes. @s far as | :17:22. | :17:25.
we are concerned, there has been no confirmation of these rumours. We | :17:26. | :17:28.
hope there will be a positive outcome here and that he will come | :17:29. | :17:31.
home safely to us all. Thank you very much indeed. You're welcome. | :17:32. | :17:43.
Richard's here with the sport now, and Manchester City fought back well | :17:44. | :17:52.
yesterday, but Manchester United suffered an incredible coll`pse | :17:53. | :17:55.
They did. They were attacking so well early on as well. As dhd City | :17:56. | :17:58.
who drew 1`1 with title riv`ls Chelsea and even this early in the | :17:59. | :18:02.
season it felt like an important point. It lifts City to sixth in the | :18:03. | :18:05.
table, but they're still five points adrift of Chelsea. City are the only | :18:06. | :18:08.
North West team in the top half of the table. Yes, United are well down | :18:09. | :18:12.
in the bottom half? They ard. This is how the bottom half of the table | :18:13. | :18:15.
looks. After yesterday's 5`3 defeat at Leicester, United are down in | :18:16. | :18:18.
twelfth place. Liverpool ard just one point above them after they lost | :18:19. | :18:21.
3`1 at West Ham. Everton ard in fourteenth after being beatdn by 3`2 | :18:22. | :18:24.
by Crystal Palace. And Burnley are just off the bottom following their | :18:25. | :18:27.
goalless draw with Sunderland. So the Premier League table has a | :18:28. | :18:29.
rather depressing look about for most of our teams at the molent | :18:30. | :18:32.
With some new signings, and killed the Maria in particular bringing | :18:33. | :18:56.
we had the game and our pocket and we gave it away. | :18:57. | :19:04.
We need a new defence. We nded to defenders. After that we will be OK. | :19:05. | :19:10.
They're not doing the best `t who is at the moment? | :19:11. | :19:13.
In contrast, Manchester Citx appear even stronger at the moment. A solid | :19:14. | :19:23.
foundation that helped city respond after going one goal down. Wouldn't | :19:24. | :19:30.
you know it? A Chelsea legend, now in sky`blue got the equalisdr. | :19:31. | :19:36.
It was a strange feeling. It was a great game of football. You do your | :19:37. | :19:42.
job. It was a weird day for me. Ever current `` Everton werd | :19:43. | :19:50.
expected to beat Crystal Palace but made too many mistakes and both | :19:51. | :19:55.
boxes, particularly their own. After a memorable Europa League fhxture in | :19:56. | :20:02.
midweek, they will want to forget this. | :20:03. | :20:04.
We were disappointing. Next up, the Merseyside derby at | :20:05. | :20:11.
Anfield on Saturday. Liverpool will be desperate to respond aftdr eight | :20:12. | :20:17.
hourglass in five league gales. 3`1 at West Ham. Perhaps a hangover from | :20:18. | :20:29.
the Champions League return. There is goals in the team. I | :20:30. | :20:34.
thought there were good signs of that today apart from getting it | :20:35. | :20:38.
over the line. With just one gold to shore for | :20:39. | :20:41.
their efforts this season so far, Clarets fans hope he is right. | :20:42. | :21:01.
Liverpool's Mario Balotelli has said he won't be making a formal | :21:02. | :21:03.
complaint to the police aftdr being subjected to racist abuse on social | :21:04. | :21:06.
media. The Italian striker received abuse on Twitter after he tweeted | :21:07. | :21:13.
"Manchester United...Laugh Out Loud" following United's 5`3 defe`t at | :21:14. | :21:15.
Leicester. His message was retweeted more than 150,000 times and prompted | :21:16. | :21:17.

We've all heard the expresshon saved by the bell. And for Henry the | :22:53. | :22:55.
border terrier from Cheshird, it couldn't be more true. His owner | :22:56. | :22:58.
Beverley Leonard was horrifhed when Henry disappeared down a rabbit hole | :22:59. | :23:00.
near their home in Prestburx and didn't come back. Four days later, | :23:01. | :23:03.
after all efforts, including those of the fire service had failed, | :23:04. | :23:06.
Beverley remembered the one thing which always gets Henry movhng. And, | :23:07. | :23:09.
as Naomi Cornwell explains, it worked. | :23:10. | :23:16.
Henry is good at getting hilself into scrapes. Last week he was | :23:17. | :23:22.
already recovering from a fhght with a fox when he decided to go on an | :23:23. | :23:29.
underground adventure. In the blink of an eye, he | :23:30. | :23:34.
disappeared from the garden. Panic set in. I knew he had come hnto the | :23:35. | :23:38.
field looking for rabbits. After three days searching, there | :23:39. | :23:42.
was no sign of Henry saw Beverley called on the RSPCA and the Fire | :23:43. | :23:47.
Service. It is hard to find. Because we have | :23:48. | :23:52.
this camera, we thought we could locate it but we couldn't. | :23:53. | :23:58.
Across three fields, it was impossible with so many rabbit | :23:59. | :24:03.
holes. That sparked me off, thinking the only thing he barks that is the | :24:04. | :24:06.
door bell. Beverly rang the door bell tntil she | :24:07. | :24:20.
heard a bark. He responded this time. And don t | :24:21. | :24:27.
give us an idea of where we could start digging. | :24:28. | :24:31.
Ever used a door bell any tdchnical rescue before? | :24:32. | :24:38.
No, that is the first time. We found him safe and sound. | :24:39. | :24:42.
I was crying, they were chedring, it was brilliant when we got hhm out. | :24:43. | :24:46.
Henry has none the worse for his adventure and his now being reunited | :24:47. | :24:51.
with his girlfriend who is not letting him out of her site. | :24:52. | :25:02.
Why did he want to go down that hole when he had that lovely girlfriend? | :25:03. | :25:11.
The thing that gets Diana mdeting as the pop pick her `` pop of ` Cork. | :25:12. | :25:27.
The good news is that it st`ys mild but most is will be cloudier than | :25:28. | :25:32.
what we have got used to ovdr the last couple of weeks. Wednesday | :25:33. | :25:39.
looks to be one of the bettdr days. They could be some spots of rain | :25:40. | :25:43.
from time to time but the temperatures are pretty good. The | :25:44. | :25:48.
bad news is that the sun gods down at 7:08pm. The northern parts cloud | :25:49. | :26:01.
first. There could be mist `nd fork in the high ground and the valleys. | :26:02. | :26:13.
`` mist and fog. I think yot will have seven in rural areas and double | :26:14. | :26:23.
figures in cities. You may see some British skies `` quite bright skies | :26:24. | :26:34.
in the morning. It is a bit of a north`south divide because ht may | :26:35. | :26:39.
not make it to parts of Derbyshire and Cheshire but everywhere clouds | :26:40. | :26:46.
up. You could see some showdrs. Over the high Clogher could be a heavy | :26:47. | :26:51.
burst from time to time so lake the most of the morning `` high around. | :26:52. | :27:06.
Autumn can wait. And high pressure starts to build up | :27:07. | :27:10.
again. Many people are talking abott Henry | :27:11. | :27:17.
the border terrier and what their own dogs do on our Facebook page. | :27:18. | :27:21.
Goodbye. | :27:22. | :27:23. |
