Police investigating the terrorist attack in Westminster have arrested

A 34-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were detained this morning.

They're among a number of arrests by detectives trying

to establish whether Khalid Masood was helped or encouraged by others

Our chief reporter, Dave Guest, reports from West Didsbury.

In the aftermath of the outrage, the police very quickly

Now they must identify whether Khalid Masood was acting alone

The investigation by the Metropolitan Police has led

to a number of arrests in different parts of the country.

Yesterday, they concentrated on Birmingham.

Today came news there had been arrests closer to home,

We have made two significant arrests overnight.

One in the West Midlands, one in the North West.

We have five searches at addresses continuing,

A man of 35 was arrested here in the early hours of the morning.

I had no idea what was going on, to be honest.

I didn't see anything and I wasn't told anything either.

I was contacted by the police first thing this morning,

and they've been keeping us updated and doing a great job, as usual.

the Metropolitan Police now tell us a 32-year-old woman has also been

arrested as part of their operation in Manchester today.

A four-year-old girl is fighting for her life after a suspected

stolen car mounted the pavement and hit her in St Helens today.

The girl was walking with a woman in her 50s when they were hit

by a black Ford Fiesta at 3pm on Prescot Road.

The car then hit a lamp post before two men

The girl was taken to hospital where she is in a critical condition.

The older woman, who is believed to be

the girl's grandmother, is in a serious condition.

Police are investigating the death of a 19-month-old girl in Preston.

She died in hospital, after being treated

by paramedics at an address in Lostock Hall yesterday.

An 18-year-old woman and two men - aged 18 and 19 - have been arrested.
