Health officials have revealed there are more than 7,000 fast food

outlets here in the North West as part of a plan to tackle obesity.

Public Health England says takeaway food is higher

It want councils to be better informed to limit

the number of new places. Yunus Mulla reports.

Here in Manchester, we're told there are around

750 fast food outlets - the most in the North West.

Public Health England has now published a map

of fast food hotspots, because evidence, it says,

Some councils are really concerned about this and they're trying

to stop new takeaways from opening and some are being successful

in that and Public Health England, by publishing this data,

are helping local authorities understand what's

Blackpool was found to have the highest density

of fast-food outlets per population in this region.

Here, the council and NHS England have chosen the Whyndyke Farm

The heart of it will be ideas around leisure and health.

The Halton Borough in Cheshire is below the national average

Here in Runcorn, Holton Lea has also been chosen as one of only

ten places in the UK for this healthy town project.

Again, there will be hundreds of new homes,

but also fast food-free zones, especially near schools.

Kids go after school, don't they, and get something to eat

and then, instead of going home and having proper meals

and stuff, so yeah, I suppose it is good, really.

It is a business at the end of the day for them.

You just need to be able to manage your own lifestyle.

They're turning us into a nanny state.

No, I think people should have freedom of choice.

Not all fast food is unhealthy, but when it is,

Public Health England wants local councils to be informed,

so they can take the right decisions.

A couple from London have taken a day trip to the Isle of Man

to become the UK's first opposite-sex civil partners.

A huge fire has been raging in Merseyside overnight.

The fire service was called about 11.20 last night

to Seaforth Docks, where a scrap metal recycling facility was ablaze.

At its height, there were some 40 fire officers at the incident,

including six fire appliances, two ariel platforms

The fire is under control, but Merseyside Fire Service say

this is a significant and ongoing operation

There is no risk to the public, but people nearby with breathing

conditions are urged to take their medication as advised.

we'll have a period of dry, with some patchy cloud around,

low of six to nine degrees Celsius. Now, tomorrow, we start the day

with plenty in the way of cloud. There could be one or two

mist or fog patches as well, just the odd shower to look out for,

but as we move into the afternoon, we should see some brightness

and some sunny spells, although, in the north of the region,

we are looking slightly cloudy with just the risk

of seeing an isolated shower. Temperatures tomorrow

at a maximum of 11 Celsius, and a bit more in the way

of a breeze than we saw today. Now, I'll leave

you with the outlook. We're keeping those similar

temperatures as we begin next week, although there could be

some showers to watch out for. Not a bad start but we will see some

mist and fog overnight. Southern England, we will have some extensive

low cloud and patchy fog. Further west huddle in the countryside, with

clearer skies, it will be quite chilly night. Not very promising in

the morning across these central areas. Fog slowly lifting as the

breeze freshens. For western Scotland, it should be a decent day

after a chilly start. There will be some sunshine, and largely dry.

Eastern Scotland, showers have been more widely. On the whole, for
