Two dogs have been killed by armed police and two others seized

after officers were called to reports of pit-bull-type animals

Two people were injured and a man's been arrested,

Armed officers from Greater Manchester Police

were deployed here to Queens Park in Bolton just after 10:20am this

morning after reports that six pit bull-type dogs were dangerously

out of control and that at least two people had been attacked.

In the operation that followed, two dogs were seized

and another two dogs were shot dead

just a short distance away from here.

All of this happened in front of witnesses.

I thought maybe they are looking for somebody else,

So somebody told me, they shoot the dogs.

the police didn't have any choice

Police say a woman was bitten on the hand

and a man was also injured on the leg.

They also add that a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion

of affray and allowing a dog to be dangerously

The pit bull is one of a number of breeds banned

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said today...

People are advising people not to approach the animal.

Detectives in Merseyside are questioning three teenagers

after a 14-year-old boy was stabbed in St Helens on Friday night.

The victim was knifed on Parr Stocks Road.

The three aged 19, 18 and 16 have been arrested

The victim's condition is described as stable.

Runners from across the region have taken part in the Liverpool Half

and the Greater Manchester Marathons today.

But two competitors were given quite a surprise this afternoon

after crossing the finish line, as Juliet Phillips reports.

Staff from Merseyside charity, Autism Together,

are attempting to bounce into the Guiness World Record books

to raise money to expand their Bromborough respite centre.

They aim to trampoline continuously for 25 hours.

They started at midday and by the time they're finished

tomorrow, it's estimated they will have bounced

That's the equivalent of reaching Everest five times over.

with plenty of pleasant spells of sunshine.

There's been quite a lot of cloud around and

that's a theme we'll keep as we head through this week.

But for tonight, clear spells to begin with so

Further inland, we'll see our temperatures falling away

but at the coast, they manage to stay a little bit higher.

We could get a touch of frost in some sheltered spots.

For tomorrow, high pressure still largely in control of things

so keeping things nice and settled but this rain band,

this is going to bring with it

some cloud and some rain later in the day

Lots of lovely sunshine through the day with light winds.

Then that cloud starts to thicken up before the rain

arrives in the Isle of Man by about lunchtime.

Temperatures up to around 14 Celsius.
