Two dogs have been killed by armed police and two others seized

:00:13.:00:16.

after officers were called to reports of pit-bull-type animals

:00:17.:00:20.

Two people were injured and a man's been arrested,

:00:21.:00:25.

Armed officers from Greater Manchester Police

:00:26.:00:29.

were deployed here to Queens Park in Bolton just after 10:20am this

:00:30.:00:34.

morning after reports that six pit bull-type dogs were dangerously

:00:35.:00:39.

out of control and that at least two people had been attacked.

:00:40.:00:44.

In the operation that followed, two dogs were seized

:00:45.:00:47.

and another two dogs were shot dead

:00:48.:00:49.

just a short distance away from here.

:00:50.:00:51.

All of this happened in front of witnesses.

:00:52.:00:55.

I thought maybe they are looking for somebody else,

:00:56.:00:59.

So somebody told me, they shoot the dogs.

:01:00.:01:06.

the police didn't have any choice

:01:07.:01:12.

Police say a woman was bitten on the hand

:01:13.:01:18.

and a man was also injured on the leg.

:01:19.:01:21.

They also add that a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion

:01:22.:01:25.

of affray and allowing a dog to be dangerously

:01:26.:01:27.

The pit bull is one of a number of breeds banned

:01:28.:01:34.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said today...

:01:35.:01:46.

People are advising people not to approach the animal.

:01:47.:01:57.

Detectives in Merseyside are questioning three teenagers

:01:58.:01:59.

after a 14-year-old boy was stabbed in St Helens on Friday night.

:02:00.:02:03.

The victim was knifed on Parr Stocks Road.

:02:04.:02:07.

The three aged 19, 18 and 16 have been arrested

:02:08.:02:09.

The victim's condition is described as stable.

:02:10.:02:16.

Runners from across the region have taken part in the Liverpool Half

:02:17.:02:19.

and the Greater Manchester Marathons today.

:02:20.:02:22.

But two competitors were given quite a surprise this afternoon

:02:23.:02:26.

after crossing the finish line, as Juliet Phillips reports.

:02:27.:02:30.

the gruelling 26-mile course of the Greater Manchester Marathon,

:02:31.:02:37.

many with special reasons for running,

:02:38.:02:39.

For some runners though, the highlight of the

:02:40.:02:44.

I'm here at the finish line with Brian Gallacher.

:02:45.:02:47.

Brian, you have a very special question for your partner,

:02:48.:02:50.

I have actually, yes, I'm going to ask her

:02:51.:02:53.

to marry me this afternoon if she finishes, or when she finishes!

:02:54.:02:57.

And how are you feeling at the moment?

:02:58.:03:01.

Well, I'm very nervous in myself and very nervous for her.

:03:02.:03:04.

I think she will be really shocked at the end, shocked at

:03:05.:03:07.

finishing the race and also shocked at what's going to happen.

:03:08.:03:10.

I don't know who's more nervous, him or me!

:03:11.:03:13.

There needn't have been so much nervousness.

:03:14.:03:17.

It looks like Hannah and Luke from Preston are also in it

:03:18.:03:29.

Juliet Phillips, BBC North West Tonight, Manchester.

Staff from Merseyside charity, Autism Together,

:03:39.:03:39.

are attempting to bounce into the Guiness World Record books

:03:40.:03:42.

to raise money to expand their Bromborough respite centre.

:03:43.:03:45.

They aim to trampoline continuously for 25 hours.

:03:46.:03:49.

They started at midday and by the time they're finished

:03:50.:03:53.

tomorrow, it's estimated they will have bounced

:03:54.:03:54.

That's the equivalent of reaching Everest five times over.

:03:55.:04:01.

with plenty of pleasant spells of sunshine.

:04:02.:04:08.

There's been quite a lot of cloud around and

:04:09.:04:10.

that's a theme we'll keep as we head through this week.

:04:11.:04:13.

But for tonight, clear spells to begin with so

:04:14.:04:15.

Further inland, we'll see our temperatures falling away

:04:16.:04:20.

but at the coast, they manage to stay a little bit higher.

:04:21.:04:23.

We could get a touch of frost in some sheltered spots.

:04:24.:04:26.

For tomorrow, high pressure still largely in control of things

:04:27.:04:28.

so keeping things nice and settled but this rain band,

:04:29.:04:30.

this is going to bring with it

:04:31.:04:32.

some cloud and some rain later in the day

:04:33.:04:34.

Lots of lovely sunshine through the day with light winds.

:04:35.:04:38.

Then that cloud starts to thicken up before the rain

:04:39.:04:41.

arrives in the Isle of Man by about lunchtime.

:04:42.:04:43.

Temperatures up to around 14 Celsius.

:04:44.:04:46.

Staying settled though for the remainder of the week.

:04:47.:04:53.

Not too bad on the weather front. That's it from me for it now. We

:04:54.:05:03.

will be back first thing with night. -- with Ellie. Good

:05:04.:05:05.
