Welcome to South East Today. I'm Rob Smith. And I'm Polly Evans.

:00:03.:00:06.

Tonight's top stories: Rated inadequate - the Marlowe

:00:06.:00:09.

Academy, once heralded as the future for education, gets a

:00:09.:00:14.

damning Ofsted report. At the bottom of the line, children are

:00:14.:00:20.

being failed miserably. A small step on a long road - the

:00:20.:00:22.

wife of a paralysed Kent man welcomes an MP's debate about

:00:22.:00:29.

changing the law on assisted dying. Also in tonight's programme:

:00:29.:00:32.

As the sun shines and the hosepipe ban looms, sales of water butts

:00:32.:00:36.

rocket by 200%. As the south east's gardeners prepare to battle the

:00:36.:00:39.

drought, we're live at Brighton's Royal Pavilion.

:00:39.:00:43.

The Sussex B&B that lets you get really close to nature, but if you

:00:43.:00:52.

don't like heights, you "wooden" like it.

:00:52.:00:55.

And we meet the new stars of Strictly, Pasha and Katya, as they

:00:55.:01:05.
:01:05.:01:12.

take their talents on tour in Kent. Good evening. It was heralded as

:01:12.:01:15.

the future of education when it opened in 2005, but one of Kent's

:01:15.:01:18.

flagship academy schools has been put in special measures after a

:01:18.:01:20.

damning inspection by Ofsted. The Marlowe Academy in Ramsgate has

:01:20.:01:25.

been given an overall rating of inadequate. The quality of teaching

:01:25.:01:28.

is also described as inadequate. And the school's capacity for

:01:28.:01:37.

sustained improvement is also branded inadequate.

:01:37.:01:40.

A 30 million investment designed to replace the Ramsgate School,

:01:40.:01:44.

which was dubbed the worst in the country. But now the Academy itself

:01:44.:01:50.

is in special measures. It is very worrying. My children are doing

:01:50.:01:55.

well here, but it makes me wonder wave they would be if the school

:01:55.:02:02.

was doing better. The exam results worry me. But my son has only just

:02:02.:02:06.

started, and he has a few years until he starts his exams.

:02:06.:02:11.

Hopefully, things will pick up by then. The Ofsted report published

:02:11.:02:15.

today related to an inspection in November and says the academies

:02:15.:02:19.

failing to give its pupils an acceptable standard of education.

:02:19.:02:23.

Those responsible for leading, managing or governing the school

:02:23.:02:27.

are not demonstrating the capacity to secure the necessary improvement.

:02:27.:02:31.

Too much teaching fails to support effective learning because

:02:31.:02:38.

expectations are low. It is an absolute shambles and a disgrace.

:02:38.:02:44.

At the bottom of the line, children are being failed miserably. It is a

:02:44.:02:48.

challenging area. The proportion of pupils with special educational

:02:48.:02:52.

needs or disabilities is three times the national average. Those

:02:52.:02:56.

eligible for free school meals is double the national figure. Pupils

:02:56.:03:00.

from ethnic minorities make up one in ten of the intake, but the

:03:00.:03:03.

school insists that the situation has changed since the November

:03:03.:03:09.

inspection. I am disappointed, particularly as the Ofsted

:03:09.:03:15.

inspection took place in November, just two months after we brought

:03:15.:03:21.

him a senior management team with a group of advanced skills teachers

:03:21.:03:25.

to accelerate the progress we were making. Unfortunately, Ofsted were

:03:25.:03:30.

not able to take account of the new team we brought in because they had

:03:30.:03:35.

not had enough time to have effect. If Ofsted came again to the school

:03:35.:03:39.

now that we have got new management, we have a better rating than

:03:39.:03:46.

previously. It has its faults at times, but it caters for every one.

:03:46.:03:49.

The performing arts department has given me so much confidence.

:03:49.:03:54.

Without it, I would not be as confident as I am. The inspectors

:03:54.:03:58.

were back this week. The school is confident that their next report

:03:58.:04:01.

will be very different. And Simon Jones is at the Academy

:04:01.:04:04.

now. Simon, this is all a very far cry from the optimism when the

:04:04.:04:12.

Marlowe opened? When the Academy opened, there was an emphasis on

:04:12.:04:15.

vocational subjects, but then the government said it wanted all

:04:15.:04:20.

schools to concentrate on more academic subjects. The school

:04:20.:04:23.

accept that they were slow to change, and that is why they have

:04:23.:04:27.

fallen down the league tables. Also slow has been the length of time it

:04:27.:04:32.

took to get this report published, some four months. That is because

:04:32.:04:36.

of wrangling behind the scenes between the academy and Ofsted. The

:04:36.:04:40.

school are very unhappy about when this inspection took place. The

:04:40.:04:43.

report does make clear that things are getting better, but the big

:04:43.:04:47.

question is what would happen if things do not improve quickly

:04:47.:04:50.

enough. We put that to the government, but because the

:04:50.:04:54.

academies are so new, this is uncharted territory. The government

:04:54.:04:58.

says it will be prepared to take further action. But what that will

:04:58.:05:01.

be is unclear. A former Cranbrook rugby player who

:05:01.:05:04.

is paralysed from the neck down and has locked-in syndrome has welcomed

:05:04.:05:08.

a debate in the Commons on assisted dying. Today's motion, supported by

:05:08.:05:10.

the Brighton Pavilion MP Caroline Lucas, argued that prosecuting

:05:10.:05:14.

those who help a loved-one to die - at their request - may not always

:05:14.:05:24.
:05:24.:05:32.

be in the public interest. This was not to condone suicide.

:05:32.:05:35.

Tony, who is paralysed and has locked-in syndrome, meaning he

:05:35.:05:39.

cannot speak, watched today's debate in the Commons with keen

:05:39.:05:43.

interest. Two weeks ago a judge ruled that he should be able to

:05:43.:05:47.

proceed with his right to die case. The former rugby player has been

:05:47.:05:51.

paralysed since suffering a stroke seven years ago. Currently, if he

:05:51.:05:54.

is helped to die, those who assist him could be charged with murder.

:05:54.:05:58.

The debate today in the House of Commons is a step in the right

:05:58.:06:03.

direction, albeit a very small step. It is nothing like what we are

:06:03.:06:13.

after. But any debate is good for us. This afternoon, MPs helped --

:06:13.:06:16.

held the first assisted suicide debate in the chamber since 1970.

:06:16.:06:20.

It comes after the Director of Public Prosecutions published new

:06:20.:06:23.

guidelines which said any decision over whether to prosecute someone

:06:23.:06:26.

should take account of their motivation and whether they stood

:06:26.:06:30.

to gain financially. The Green Party leader says there should be

:06:30.:06:34.

greater discretion. The essence of the advice is to give dying people

:06:34.:06:40.

the ability to live. It is the knowledge that they have control

:06:40.:06:44.

over when they die that allows them to live more fully and for longer.

:06:44.:06:48.

But critics say they should be very wary of changing the law. When

:06:49.:06:53.

people are killed and very vulnerable to influence fourfold by

:06:53.:06:56.

family, friends and particularly those providing care for them, it

:06:56.:07:02.

is only too easy for them to be persuaded either actively or

:07:02.:07:06.

passively that they would be better off dead. MPs will vote on whether

:07:06.:07:10.

they support the new guidelines. Campaigners say it is a positive

:07:10.:07:14.

move, but does not go far enough, as the government has no plans to

:07:14.:07:18.

change the law when it comes to assisted dying.

:07:28.:07:31.

cemeteries to help loved ones find their relatives - three men are

:07:31.:07:41.
:07:41.:07:43.

honoured at St James's Palace. With a drought declared and

:07:43.:07:45.

hosepipe bans looming, gardeners are making plans to cope in the

:07:46.:07:50.

months ahead. Retailers have seen a 200% increase in demand for water

:07:50.:07:55.

butt sales in the south east compared to last year. That's well

:07:55.:07:59.

above the national average. There's also been a surge of interest in

:07:59.:08:03.

drought-resistant plants. Our reporter is live in Brighton for us

:08:04.:08:08.

now. Does that mean people are accepting the need for a hosepipe

:08:08.:08:16.

ban? Not everybody. One poll out today says a fifth of people are

:08:16.:08:21.

planning to take no notice of it. And the majority of people would

:08:21.:08:25.

not shop their neighbour if they saw them using a hosepipe. We are

:08:25.:08:30.

only days away from the ban coming in on April 5th, next Thursday,

:08:30.:08:35.

brought in because of this incredible spell of dry weather. It

:08:35.:08:38.

is the second driest year on record in the south-east. But at least

:08:38.:08:43.

that increase in the number of water butts being sold, 207 % up

:08:43.:08:48.

here, will be some comfort to the water companies. We are pleased to

:08:48.:08:52.

see sales of water butts going up, because that means our customers

:08:52.:08:56.

will be using rainwater for their gardens as opposed to tap water.

:08:56.:09:01.

That will help us get through the drought far more easily,

:09:01.:09:05.

particularly through the summer months. What about public spaces

:09:05.:09:11.

like Brighton Pavilion? Can they be kept green? Some of the water

:09:11.:09:14.

companies have been consulting on how far the ban should go. The

:09:15.:09:18.

general rule seems to be that public spaces like this will not be

:09:18.:09:23.

allowed to be watered. They will be left to go brown. The same goes for

:09:23.:09:28.

golf courses, bowling greens and tennis courts. The level of the

:09:28.:09:33.

reservoirs is so low at the moment that keeping the grass green is a

:09:33.:09:39.

very low priority. The exception to the rule will be sports venues that

:09:39.:09:42.

are hosting national or international events. And of course

:09:42.:09:45.

in this year, I wonder why that would be.

:09:45.:09:48.

A school exchange programme in East Grinstead has been brought to a

:09:48.:09:51.

halt over fears of illegal immigration. The visas of sixth

:09:51.:09:54.

formers from Tanzania have been refused for the first time in the

:09:54.:09:57.

seven-year history of trips to Imberhorne School.

:09:57.:10:00.

A young woman's been left with a fractured jaw during a mass fight

:10:00.:10:03.

in Brighton over the weekend. The 21-year-old was treated at the

:10:03.:10:06.

Royal Sussex Hospital after the fight, which took place in the

:10:06.:10:10.

early hours of Saturday morning. Three men and two women were

:10:10.:10:16.

arrested on suspicion of affray. The Independent Police Complaints

:10:16.:10:19.

Commission has said it is not now investigating how a man fell onto

:10:19.:10:22.

the tracks at Brighton railway station last week. The man, who was

:10:22.:10:24.

airlifted to hospital, had spoken to Sussex Police officers earlier

:10:24.:10:27.

that day, but the Commission says they have no concerns about the

:10:27.:10:31.

conduct of the officers involved. People should have a greater say

:10:31.:10:33.

about what is built in their community and where, and the

:10:33.:10:36.

Government says that new changes to the planning guidelines, with a

:10:36.:10:38.

"presumption in favour of sustainable development", will

:10:38.:10:42.

allow more homes to be built at a time when the South East faces a

:10:42.:10:47.

chronic shortage of housing. But environmental campaign group

:10:47.:10:49.

Friends Of The Earth say the changes will unleash "a building

:10:49.:10:52.

free-for-all". The Government, however, is adamant that the

:10:53.:11:02.
:11:03.:11:03.

countryside will still be protected from over-development. This

:11:03.:11:05.

national policy planning framework will help build the homes the next

:11:05.:11:08.

generation needs. It supports growth to allow employers to create

:11:08.:11:13.

the jobs our constituents need. It protects what we hold dear in our

:11:13.:11:16.

matches countryside and the fabric of our history. It does so by

:11:16.:11:19.

taking power away from remote bodies and putting it into the

:11:19.:11:22.

hands of the people of England. The Government says the new

:11:22.:11:25.

guidelines will give local residents a greater say in how

:11:25.:11:28.

decisions are taken in their area. Ringmer, near Lewes, is one of 17

:11:28.:11:34.

areas in the country that have been piloting part of the guidelines.

:11:34.:11:38.

At first glance, Ringmer might not seem to be at the heart of the

:11:38.:11:41.

national planning debate, but for almost a year, it has been part of

:11:42.:11:46.

a government pilot scheme as part of the new planning regime. Local

:11:46.:11:49.

people, asked to draw up a neighbourhood plan as to how much

:11:49.:11:53.

and where they want development in the village. A neighbourhood plan

:11:53.:11:58.

would have statutory powers and it would effectively regulate the

:11:59.:12:04.

planning for the area. There is a planning process. That will do a

:12:04.:12:07.

lot of the work. But the neighbourhood plan will make the

:12:07.:12:11.

development more acceptable to local people. But it has taken nine

:12:11.:12:14.

months so far, and the local authorities expected to be at least

:12:14.:12:18.

a year before the detail is decided in winner. Planning guidance has

:12:18.:12:23.

been condensed into 50-odd pages by the coalition. Experts are cautious.

:12:24.:12:30.

We have had over 1000 pages of policy, which as of today has all

:12:30.:12:40.

essentially been thrown in the bin. It will take time for landowners,

:12:40.:12:44.

developers, concerned locals and local authorities to get their head

:12:44.:12:47.

round the new policy framework. coalition want medal of planning to,

:12:47.:12:52.

as they put it, welcome growth and give local people a real voice.

:12:52.:12:56.

Environmental campaigners have used their voice to welcome many of the

:12:56.:12:59.

changes the Government have introduced, but also to express

:12:59.:13:04.

some caution. It is still weak on giving priority to developing

:13:04.:13:10.

brownfield land before greenfield land. Since 1995, there has been a

:13:10.:13:11.

preference for developing previously developed land in towns

:13:12.:13:19.

and cities. There is a reference to brownfield land being encouraged to

:13:20.:13:23.

be developed, but it is a lot weaker than we want it. Rimmel will

:13:23.:13:27.

continue to develop its neighbourhood plan as it copes with

:13:27.:13:30.

the new government policy presumption in favour of

:13:30.:13:37.

sustainable development. Our top story tonight: one of

:13:37.:13:41.

Kent's flagship academy has been put into special measures following

:13:41.:13:45.

a damning inspection by Ofsted. The Marlowe Academy in Ramsgate has

:13:45.:13:49.

been given an overall rating of inadequate.

:13:49.:13:54.

Also coming to light: they are live on tour. We meet the new stars of

:13:54.:13:58.

Strictly, Pasha and Katya. And when will this unbroken

:13:58.:14:02.

sunshine finally break? And is there any rain in the forecast? All

:14:02.:14:12.
:14:12.:14:13.

the answers to your weather questions in a few minutes.

:14:13.:14:15.

They've used satellite imaging to trace more than 20,000 war

:14:15.:14:18.

cemeteries across the world to help people find their fallen relatives

:14:18.:14:22.

via the internet. Now three men, two of them from Sussex have been

:14:22.:14:24.

honoured for their work making the Commonwealth war graves more

:14:24.:14:27.

accessible. Terry Denham, from Haywards Heath, and Mike Cole, from

:14:27.:14:29.

Crawley Down, have been presented with commendations at St James's

:14:29.:14:38.

Palace. It's never been easier to locate

:14:38.:14:43.

the resting place of a loved one who died serving their country.

:14:43.:14:46.

These three men, two of them from Sussex, have spent years making it

:14:46.:14:55.

possible. So how does this work? Let's try it.

:14:55.:15:01.

You type in time cot, which is the largest Commission Cemetery in the

:15:01.:15:05.

world, and you can either go and look at the list of casualties

:15:05.:15:12.

buried there, a foresee where the cemetery is. Click on location. And

:15:12.:15:17.

here we have an aerial view of the cemetery. Or you can scroll around

:15:17.:15:22.

the area to see what it is like. Around 1.7 million people died

:15:22.:15:25.

serving the realm during both world wars. Their remains and headstones

:15:25.:15:27.

are scattered in every corner of the globe. Bruce Caldwell, Mike

:15:27.:15:30.

Cole and Terry Denham found 20,000 cemeteries and their satellite

:15:30.:15:33.

position so that anyone can find them - no matter how small or

:15:33.:15:38.

remote the resting place happens to be. Today, their efforts were

:15:38.:15:43.

recognised during an award ceremony at St James' Palace. Bruce Caldwell

:15:43.:15:47.

began the research six years ago following a trip to a war cemetery

:15:47.:15:57.
:15:57.:15:58.

in France. I researched where the cemetery was an found the location

:15:58.:16:05.

on a computer. Plotted it into my sat-nav and went there. When I came

:16:05.:16:09.

back, I was so moved by the occasion that I decided to plot a

:16:09.:16:15.

few more. Terry and Bruce were working on the UK sites. They

:16:15.:16:19.

started at the top in alphabetical order. Mic started from the bottom

:16:19.:16:25.

in alphabetical order, and we eventually met about Yorkshire.

:16:25.:16:27.

information is on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website.

:16:27.:16:30.

Since its launch two months ago, people have been able to find the

:16:30.:16:37.

graves of lost family members. may be surprising for people to

:16:37.:16:41.

realise that not everybody knows where their loved one is buried or

:16:41.:16:46.

commemorated. Through our records, you can find out the exact cemetery,

:16:46.:16:50.

plot, a row, grave number of that location and then physically visit

:16:50.:16:55.

it. It is difficult to put a price on the importance of a family

:16:55.:16:58.

member being able to physically go and touch the grave of their loved

:16:58.:17:07.

one. Countless hours have gone into finding these cemeteries, 19,000 in

:17:07.:17:12.

all, but there were continues. There are now spreading their

:17:12.:17:22.
:17:22.:17:23.

locations into South Africa and Canada.

:17:23.:17:26.

It won't suit you if you suffer from a fear of heights, but a new

:17:26.:17:29.

B&B in Sussex is offering guests some rather unusual accommodation

:17:29.:17:33.

in a treehouse. The business is the latest venture for two brothers

:17:33.:17:36.

from Kent who've built treehouses around the world for clients which

:17:36.:17:46.
:17:46.:17:47.

include hotels and schools. This is part of the experience. You

:17:47.:17:52.

have to go across the rope bridge. It is a bit Indiana Jones-esque,

:17:52.:17:55.

perfect way to come into a tree house.

:17:55.:17:58.

It was first built as an office, but now Simon Payne has decided it

:17:59.:18:03.

is time to share his tree house in Wadhurst. The main feature has to

:18:03.:18:07.

be the tree coming straight through the middle, and the beautiful view

:18:07.:18:14.

it outside. And the tree is a live. Yes, it comes straight through and

:18:14.:18:19.

in the summer, you get green leaves growing from it. It really sets the

:18:19.:18:25.

scene. It is the focal point and makes you feel rustic and at home.

:18:25.:18:31.

The great outdoors. The tree B&B sits on his parents' farm. Simon's

:18:31.:18:35.

father is not surprised that his sons never grew out of climbing

:18:35.:18:40.

trees. Our children were born and grew up in Kenya. They spent most

:18:40.:18:45.

of their time outside, so they were always thinking of games and things

:18:45.:18:51.

to do. And he has managed to adapt that to this country. Some experts

:18:52.:18:55.

think it is creative thinking like this that will bring tourists to

:18:55.:19:00.

the south-east. They are looking for value for money and adventure

:19:00.:19:05.

and a break from their urban existence. So people who are

:19:05.:19:13.

offering unusual things like tepees are able to offer what the

:19:13.:19:16.

consumers are looking for. Simon's business came from humble

:19:16.:19:21.

beginnings. This is what is left of his first tree house. We were in

:19:21.:19:27.

our early teens. You can see we were not afraid of heights. Now the

:19:27.:19:30.

company is involved in projects across the country and the rest of

:19:30.:19:34.

Europe. He says customers like sustainable building and the chance

:19:34.:19:38.

to be a child again. Now cricket - it's been another

:19:38.:19:41.

eventful day in the First Test. In reply to Sri Lanka's first innings

of 318, England made just 193, with Sussex wicketkeeper Matt Prior out

for 7. But county teammate Monty Panesar made 13 in a last wicket

:19:51.:19:56.

stand of 36. At the close, Sri Lanka were 84 for 5 in their second

innings. In football, Crawley could move

:20:00.:20:03.

back into the top three in League Two with victory at Bradford

tonight. The Reds go into the game looking for their fourth win in ten

:20:07.:20:10.

days, and it looks likely that manager Steve Evans will keep faith

:20:10.:20:12.

with the side that won 3-0 at the weekend.

:20:12.:20:16.

Gillingham know they need all three points at Burton if they are to get

:20:16.:20:20.

their promotion push back on track. The Gills go into the game in ninth

:20:20.:20:23.

place, four points off the play-off places and still missing a number

:20:23.:20:27.

of key players. And East Grinstead Hockey Club look

:20:27.:20:31.

set to continue their domination of the domestic game. Having already

:20:31.:20:34.

won both the Indoor and Outdoor English league titles, the Sussex

:20:34.:20:37.

side will compete in the League play-offs this weekend and in

:20:37.:20:40.

Europe next month, which should be the ideal build-up to the Olympics

:20:40.:20:50.
:20:50.:20:50.

for many of their GB players. nice to go into the Olympics with

:20:50.:20:54.

the confidence behind you that if we play well, we can do something.

:20:54.:20:57.

I have had tournaments in the past where we have known we could not

:20:57.:21:02.

win. Whereas now, we have confidence in the team that if we

:21:02.:21:05.

perform well, we can achieve something. It doesn't mean we will,

:21:05.:21:08.

but it sends you in in the right frame of mind.

:21:08.:21:11.

They're the new kids on the Strictly Come Dancing block, but

:21:11.:21:14.

they're already following in Anton and Erin's footsteps, so to speak,

:21:14.:21:18.

taking their dancing talents on tour. Katya Virshilas and Pasha

:21:19.:21:28.
:21:29.:21:34.

Kovalev are the latest pairing from And tonight, they're promising

:21:34.:21:38.

audiences the chance to dance with them. We'll be hearing from them in

:21:38.:21:48.
:21:48.:21:50.

a moment, but first here's a You nailed that! Expressive, fluid

:21:50.:21:57.

and musical. You act a bit like a movie star. I loved it.

:21:57.:21:59.

Well, our reporter is inside Tunbridge Wells Assembly Hall

:21:59.:22:09.

theatre now. Charlie, tonight's the opening night of the tour? Yes, it

:22:09.:22:15.

is the first show of 35 shows in 39 days. Quite a tight schedule by any

:22:15.:22:23.

standards, but they still managed to find some room for us tonight.

:22:23.:22:28.

Jonah Rimmel, here are Pasha and Katya. -- joining me now. He will

:22:28.:22:36.

be exhausted with so many shows? yeah, we will see. Well, we will

:22:36.:22:42.

get used to that. We love it. This is our job, to be able to perform

:22:42.:22:46.

on a theatre floor. It is incredible. Tell me what the show

:22:46.:22:52.

is about? The show is about all types of dancing. It tells the

:22:52.:22:57.

story of each type of dance, from salsa to tango to everything you

:22:57.:23:02.

would see on Strictly and more, with our little twist on it. Away

:23:02.:23:06.

from the show, on Friday, you did something special for Sport Relief,

:23:06.:23:12.

Pasha, dancing under water. What was that lie? Crazy. It was an

:23:12.:23:16.

unbelievable experience. Never tried anything like that, but I

:23:16.:23:23.

would do it again. What an amazing thing to do for a great cause.

:23:23.:23:26.

way they set up a stage underwater, who could have thought it would

:23:26.:23:33.

happen? It did look incredible. And away from the stage for you, Katya,

:23:33.:23:37.

you have been involved in movies. You danced with Antonia banned

:23:37.:23:44.

their us at one stage? Yes, I did some acting and one of the films

:23:44.:23:50.

was with him. I was very blonde. Now I am a brunette. But it was an

:23:51.:23:55.

amazing experience as a 19-year-old to be working with him and Richard

:23:55.:24:03.

Gere and Jennifer Lopez. It taught me a lot. I know you will be

:24:03.:24:09.

showing us what to expect tonight. Please show some of your wonderful

:24:09.:24:14.

news. If you can't get to Tunbridge Wells tonight, they are also coming

:24:14.:24:23.

to Dartford, Chatham and Burgess What a beautiful couple.

:24:23.:24:27.

They would not let me interview them in case I scared them. Now for

:24:27.:24:32.

a check on the weather. It is lovely hair, but it is getting

:24:32.:24:36.

chilly now. I was going to say there were two sides to the

:24:36.:24:43.

forecast, but there are now four sides to it. Firstly, we crucially

:24:43.:24:48.

need this rainfall and I can't see any rain in the next week. Secondly,

:24:48.:24:52.

lots of people are loving all this sunshine, and that is staying put

:24:52.:24:58.

for the next few days. But point number three is that if you are a

:24:58.:25:03.

hayfever sufferer, the pollen count is very high at the moment and will

:25:03.:25:08.

stay that way for the next few days. And if your TV reception is looking

:25:08.:25:12.

wonky, that is not your TV on the blink, it is to do with the

:25:12.:25:17.

pressure being so high at the moment. Until the pressure stars to

:25:17.:25:21.

reduce, we will see the squiggly reception continuing. Which of the

:25:21.:25:26.

four will be winning in the next few days? Definitely the sunshine.

:25:26.:25:31.

If you have been loving it, we will have lots of warm, sunny weather

:25:31.:25:35.

and staying dry for the next few days. The change will be a foot as

:25:35.:25:41.

we go into the weekend, which is when we get cooler and cloudier

:25:41.:25:46.

just in time for Saturday and Sunday. Speaking of cooler

:25:46.:25:51.

temperatures, for the next few hours we will have clear skies. The

:25:51.:25:58.

temperatures do not so much tumble as nosedive. They will get back

:25:58.:26:01.

down close enough to freezing to give some places a grass frost by

:26:01.:26:06.

the end of the night. Maybe some mist as well. But that will clear

:26:06.:26:10.

away quickly tomorrow and we will be left with beautiful sunshine.

:26:10.:26:18.

Clear skies again and temperatures getting up to 19 or 20, maybe 21

:26:18.:26:26.

degrees, but a bit cooler around the coast. Tomorrow evening, the

:26:26.:26:29.

same as this evening, with the clear skies and temperatures

:26:29.:26:33.

dropping rapidly. Another chilly night tomorrow night, followed by

:26:33.:26:38.

another warm and sunny day for Thursday. On Friday, we might see

:26:38.:26:42.

some cloud trickling in from the east and temperatures therefore not

:26:42.:26:46.

so high, but the change for all of us will be coming along at the

:26:46.:26:49.

weekend. The high pressure moves westwards and we will get more

:26:50.:26:54.

cloud. The temperature will drop. For the rest of the week, sunny and

:26:54.:26:58.

warm. For the weekend, cloudy and cooler.

:26:58.:27:02.

Always the way. To night's top stories: it could

:27:02.:27:05.

happen again - an official report says half a million forgotten

:27:05.:27:08.

families hold the key to last summer's riots.

:27:08.:27:12.

His says young people from those families lacked a stake in society

:27:12.:27:15.

and had nothing to lose when the rioting started.

:27:15.:27:19.

In the south-east, a school once heralded as the future of education

:27:19.:27:22.

has been put into special measures after a damning inspection by

:27:22.:27:26.

Ofsted. Marlowe Academy has been given an overall rating of

:27:26.:27:28.

inadequate. Under a former Cranbrook rugby
