Good evening. The former Bishop of Lewes Peter Ball has become the most | :00:00. | :01:15.
senior figure in the Church of England to be charged with historic | :01:16. | :01:19.
sex abuse. The 82`year`old has also been charged with misconduct in | :01:20. | :01:24.
public office. Peter Ball has been charged after an | :01:25. | :01:27.
18`month investigation into sex abuse at the Diocese of Chichester | :01:28. | :01:31.
in the 1970s and 80s. Our Home Affairs reporter Rebecca Williams | :01:32. | :01:41.
has more. What hurts our he`rts most... A former Bishop of Lewes and | :01:42. | :01:45.
Gloucester, the Right Reverdnd Peter Ball, who is now in his 80s, has | :01:46. | :01:50.
been charged with indecent `ssault and misconduct in public office It | :01:51. | :01:55.
follows a lengthy investigation by Sussex Police into sex abusd | :01:56. | :02:00.
Chichester. This is the first bishop to be charged in this country with | :02:01. | :02:05.
offences such as sexual misconduct against children and adults. In | :02:06. | :02:10.
other countries we have seen bishops prosecuted but in England whthin the | :02:11. | :02:13.
Catholic Church and the Anglican Church it is the first time that a | :02:14. | :02:16.
bishop has been charged now with these offences a number of xears | :02:17. | :02:23.
after they took place. He is charged with misconduct in public office | :02:24. | :02:30.
between 1977 and 1992. As wdll as indecent assault on a boy in the | :02:31. | :02:35.
1970s and the man in the early 0s. The former Bisset was working here | :02:36. | :02:42.
in Chichester. Today the National safeguarding authority has confirmed | :02:43. | :02:45.
he will be prosecuted. They say they take any allegations of sextal abuse | :02:46. | :02:49.
seriously and they say they are committed to making the church a | :02:50. | :02:54.
safe place for everyone. Thd right Reverend Peter Ball has an hdentical | :02:55. | :02:59.
twin brother and he was appointed in 1977. He went on to become the | :03:00. | :03:04.
Bishop of Gloucester 20 years later, he resigned the following ydar. He | :03:05. | :03:09.
continued working in churchds in the Somerset area up until 2010. It is | :03:10. | :03:15.
believed this is the first time a Church of England bishop has been | :03:16. | :03:20.
charged with child sex offences He will appear at Brighton Maghstrates' | :03:21. | :03:27.
Court on April ten. `` April the 10th. | :03:28. | :03:29.
Well, Rebecca joins us live from Hove. Can you give us some | :03:30. | :03:35.
background? He was first arrested in November | :03:36. | :03:39.
2012 so it has taken some thme for the CPS to decide whether or not to | :03:40. | :03:45.
press charges. He has not m`de a official statement today but we | :03:46. | :03:48.
understand he is living in Somerset. At some stage she was living in a | :03:49. | :03:53.
grace favour property given to him by the Duchy of Cornwall but we | :03:54. | :03:57.
believe he left there a couple of years ago. It is understood that | :03:58. | :04:00.
this is the first time that a Church of England bishop has been charged | :04:01. | :04:18.
with misconduct in prison. `` misconduct in public office. It is a | :04:19. | :04:22.
serious offence and carries a maximum term of life imprisonment. | :04:23. | :04:25.
Police in Kent have launched an investigation after a death threat | :04:26. | :04:28.
was sent to a female MP on the social media site Twitter. Tracey | :04:29. | :04:31.
Crouch, who represents Chatham and Aylesford, received the message | :04:32. | :04:34.
yesterday. She says she has no idea why the message was sent. Online | :04:35. | :04:37.
safety campaigners say therd's a need for tougher laws to protect | :04:38. | :04:40.
victims of online abuse. Chrissie Reidy reports. The abusive tweet was | :04:41. | :04:42.
posted on the MP's timeline late last night. The rest of the tweet | :04:43. | :04:47.
was littered with profanity that is too offensive to repeat. Shd | :04:48. | :04:51.
immediately reported it to the police and a few hours later she | :04:52. | :04:55.
received a response from a senior officer. I was very distressed to | :04:56. | :05:00.
receive the message when I turned on my Twitter account this morning It | :05:01. | :05:04.
was rather upsetting to read some of the vile language that the tweet | :05:05. | :05:09.
contained but also to have ` death threat contained within it. I | :05:10. | :05:13.
immediately reported it both to Twitter and to the police. Ht is not | :05:14. | :05:18.
the first time social media sites have been used to abuse people. Last | :05:19. | :05:25.
month the Brighton politici`n received racist messages online | :05:26. | :05:28.
telling her to go back to hdr own country. Early in the year best | :05:29. | :05:32.
wedeln the Olympic gymnast was taunted about her appearancd | :05:33. | :05:36.
online. In the same month two people were jailed for sending abusive | :05:37. | :05:42.
tweets to a campaign after `` a campaigner who petitioned for a | :05:43. | :05:45.
female to appear on banknotd. Some say tougher laws should be | :05:46. | :05:49.
introduced to stop this happening. We are finding cyber bullying is at | :05:50. | :05:56.
constant increase and almost at academic portion `` epidemic | :05:57. | :06:00.
proportions. Legislation is acting but it is reactive, why is ht not | :06:01. | :06:05.
proactive? It is completely unacceptable. It does not m`tter who | :06:06. | :06:08.
you are or what you do you should not have to deal with death threats | :06:09. | :06:14.
or via and abusive death `` messages on Twitter or any other sochal | :06:15. | :06:18.
network. Tracey Crouch regular uses Twitter and so she refuses to be | :06:19. | :06:21.
intimidated. And Chrissie joins us from Chatham. | :06:22. | :06:25.
Chrissie are the police hopdful of speaking to the person who posted | :06:26. | :06:31.
the tweet? They have not sahd that I exactly but they have said that they | :06:32. | :06:35.
are aware that Tracey Crouch has received a death threat on Twitter | :06:36. | :06:39.
and they are looking into it to see whether they have two investigate `` | :06:40. | :06:44.
Tracey Crouch told me today she is on twitter most babe they `` she is | :06:45. | :06:50.
on twitter most days and it will not put her off using it becausd at is | :06:51. | :06:54.
an effective way of communicating with her constituents so shd has no | :06:55. | :06:59.
intention of ending any timd soon. Coming up in a moment: In mdmory of | :07:00. | :07:02.
their mother, the daughters of the Kent lawyer killed in a boating | :07:03. | :07:06.
accident in Brazil raising loney as a tribute to her life. | :07:07. | :07:12.
The MP for North Thanet, Sir Roger Gale, says a letter offering to buy | :07:13. | :07:16.
the troubled Manston Airport in Kent has today been sent to the current | :07:17. | :07:18.
owners. In July last year the airport | :07:19. | :07:21.
unveiled its 40`year vision, to include handling 16 million | :07:22. | :07:25.
passengers a year. Then in October Stagecoach co`founder Ann Gloag | :07:26. | :07:31.
bought the airport for ?1. But last week a 45`day consultation was | :07:32. | :07:39.
launched into its possible closure. Well, Sara Smith joins us lhve from | :07:40. | :07:43.
Manston. Sara, has there bedn any reaction to the offer from the | :07:44. | :07:47.
airport's owner yet? Nothing directly yet. It is not yet | :07:48. | :07:53.
clear whether she has received the offer its self. Staff have been told | :07:54. | :07:56.
by the chief executive that any offer will be closely considered and | :07:57. | :08:01.
responded to and that it wotld need to be sufficiently funded to ensure | :08:02. | :08:05.
the ongoing costs of operathng the airport can be met. From pl`ns for | :08:06. | :08:11.
expansion to a consultation to close, all within less than a year. | :08:12. | :08:15.
Last week staff said they wdre hoping to hear of an agreemdnt with | :08:16. | :08:19.
Ryanair but instead they were told that jobs were on the line. Today a | :08:20. | :08:24.
new deal is on its way to the owner of the airport which means their | :08:25. | :08:29.
future may be safe after all. I would not wish to begin to suggest | :08:30. | :08:34.
that this is a done deal, it is not. And far has been made and I hope the | :08:35. | :08:38.
owner will respond positively. Clearly negotiations will t`ke place | :08:39. | :08:41.
and it remains to be seen whether the offer is accepted or solething | :08:42. | :08:46.
like it or whether it is turned down. The MP says he is not privy to | :08:47. | :08:50.
any of the details but he is working to bring the two sides together The | :08:51. | :08:54.
important thing is to keep Lanston Airport open and flying. A petition | :08:55. | :09:09.
to save it has already gaindd 1 ,000 signatures and rather than close it, | :09:10. | :09:11.
say supporters, it has great potential to exploit. There is room | :09:12. | :09:14.
for 100 times more planes hdre that matters at the moment. It is very | :09:15. | :09:17.
close to the edge of the land, you go straight out over the se` and the | :09:18. | :09:20.
weather here is good, there is far less a fork than at Heathrow and | :09:21. | :09:26.
Gatwick. For some aviation `irports the news that Manston Airport my | :09:27. | :09:31.
close did not come as a surprise. If you are a small airport on the edge | :09:32. | :09:35.
of south`east England and you have strong competitors not too far away, | :09:36. | :09:40.
I am afraid that the future does not look very optimistic. Today hopes | :09:41. | :09:43.
have been raised that that hs not the case at all. Now all eyds are on | :09:44. | :09:49.
the airport's owner, Ann Gloag, does she want to sell? If she dods is the | :09:50. | :09:57.
deal good enough to? Roger Gale says he wants the notice of redundancy to | :09:58. | :10:01.
be withdrawn immediately to give some space so that proper | :10:02. | :10:05.
negotiations can take place. Thank you. | :10:06. | :10:07.
A man's been sentenced to ddath for murdering a Kent primary school | :10:08. | :10:11.
teacher in Qatar. 24`year`old Lauren Patterson's body was found partly | :10:12. | :10:14.
burned in the middle of the desert near Doha. Her family say that Badr | :10:15. | :10:17.
Al`Jabar's sentence means jtstice has been served. Another man's been | :10:18. | :10:20.
jailed for three years for damaging evidence. | :10:21. | :10:23.
Claims that the disgraced tdlevision presenter Jimmy Savile abusdd | :10:24. | :10:25.
children in more than 20 chhldren's homes and schools, including one in | :10:26. | :10:29.
Kent, are to be investigated. Historic allegations relating to | :10:30. | :10:32.
Sevenoaks School have been handed to the Department for Education by the | :10:33. | :10:36.
Metropolitan Police. The schools governors have been asked to further | :10:37. | :10:39.
investigate the claims against Saville. | :10:40. | :10:43.
Trains between Battle and Robertsbridge will resume e`rly next | :10:44. | :10:47.
week according to Network R`il. Services on the Hastings to London | :10:48. | :10:50.
line have been disrupted since December after a series of | :10:51. | :10:53.
landslips. The stretch north of Battle was due to reopen at the | :10:54. | :10:57.
beginning of this month. The family of a Kent woman killed in | :10:58. | :11:02.
a hit and run boat crash whhle on holiday in Brazil last Septdmber | :11:03. | :11:05.
have begun raising money in her memory. Gillian Metcalf frol | :11:06. | :11:08.
Tenterden died from head injuries when the boat she was in was hit by | :11:09. | :11:13.
another vessel. Her family believe the incident was preventabld and say | :11:14. | :11:17.
that life will never be the same again. Simon Jones reports. | :11:18. | :11:25.
A family holiday to celebrate Gillian Metcalf's 50th birthday A | :11:26. | :11:31.
collision between two boats that claimed her life last Septelber How | :11:32. | :11:38.
preventable do you think it was Entirely. That does not help. It was | :11:39. | :11:42.
entirely preventable. We were caught up in a game of chicken and she lost | :11:43. | :11:53.
her life. She was a good mul. She was a great wife and we will miss | :11:54. | :12:03.
her. The death was reported extensively on Brazilian TV and back | :12:04. | :12:07.
here. The family say they h`ve received a huge amount of stpport | :12:08. | :12:11.
from their friends here in Tenterden and now they are raising money in | :12:12. | :12:16.
Gillian's name for a cause close to her heart further away from home. | :12:17. | :12:22.
They are supporting a school in Zambia, a place she had vishted | :12:23. | :12:26.
several times. To mark of the state their daughters will take p`rt in a | :12:27. | :12:31.
ten kilometre run and obstacle course. The accident was six months | :12:32. | :12:34.
ago now and we are all starting to get on with our lives and progress | :12:35. | :12:40.
as well as we can. It just feels nice to do something in remdmbrance, | :12:41. | :12:44.
so that we are not totally forgetting what was going on and it | :12:45. | :12:48.
brings everyone together so it is a nice thing to do as a familx. They | :12:49. | :12:55.
do not as yet have any anger which surprises me. I am glad that I do | :12:56. | :13:00.
not because I do not think ht would be in anyway constructive and it is | :13:01. | :13:04.
not going to put things back the way they were. Maybe it will cole. It | :13:05. | :13:11.
may come later on but at thd moment I just feel a terrible sensd of | :13:12. | :13:17.
loss. Police investigations into the crash are continuing. | :13:18. | :13:26.
This is our top story tonight: the former Bishop of Lewis, Petdr Ball, | :13:27. | :13:31.
has become the most senior figure in the Church of England to be charged | :13:32. | :13:34.
with historic sex abuse. He has also been charged with | :13:35. | :13:38.
misconduct in public office following an investigation hnto sex | :13:39. | :13:42.
abuse in the diocese of Chichester in the 1970s and 1980s. | :13:43. | :13:49.
Also in tonight's programme: bringing sunshine to the sotth | :13:50. | :13:53.
coast, the actor taking on Dric Morcambe in a one`man show with the | :13:54. | :13:57.
great man's son as an advisdr. Join us later for a BBC News School | :13:58. | :14:01.
report weather forecast. If you have a story you think we | :14:02. | :14:05.
should be covering on South East Today, we'd like to hear from you. | :14:06. | :14:21.
Domestic violence victims in Kent and Sussex face a lottery in the way | :14:22. | :14:26.
their complaints are handled, with police failing to pass on critical | :14:27. | :14:29.
information, and a lack of dffective training for officers. The report by | :14:30. | :14:35.
the policing watchdog Her M`jesty's Inspectorate of Constabularx has | :14:36. | :14:38.
been welcomed by the police forces who say they are disappointdd, but | :14:39. | :14:43.
trying to improve. Juliette Parkin has tonight's special report. | :14:44. | :14:52.
A crime behind closed doors, a recent campaign highlighted the | :14:53. | :14:56.
shocking fact that two women die every week at the hands of ` violent | :14:57. | :15:02.
partner. This report says that police are failing victims. Some | :15:03. | :15:06.
victims of domestic abuse are too afraid to go to the police but have | :15:07. | :15:10.
`` or have been and not had the response they hoped for. Th`t is why | :15:11. | :15:15.
up to three people a day ard coming here for support. He proceeded to | :15:16. | :15:19.
smash my head repeatedly onto the floor which was concrete, whilst at | :15:20. | :15:24.
the two children were watchhng in fear. Rose was attacked by her | :15:25. | :15:28.
ex`husband when she lived elsewhere. All of the staff here have | :15:29. | :15:37.
experienced domestic buyers in some say they listen to the whold story | :15:38. | :15:39.
which they claimed the police often fail to grasp. They definitdly need | :15:40. | :15:44.
thorough training and a thorough understanding of domestic fhre and | :15:45. | :15:51.
is. The report found that Stssex Police showed pockets of good | :15:52. | :15:55.
practice in responding to domestic fire but need to provide more | :15:56. | :15:59.
information to officers attdnding incidents. It also questiondd the | :16:00. | :16:03.
number of risk assessments being downgraded, meaning that victims may | :16:04. | :16:08.
not get the support they nedd. We recognise there are large areas for | :16:09. | :16:11.
development and improvement and I think that domestic abuse is an area | :16:12. | :16:17.
that needs continuing development and continuing professional | :16:18. | :16:20.
improvement and training. In Kent the report showed a lack of | :16:21. | :16:23.
effective training for key staff and said that better evidence g`thering | :16:24. | :16:28.
is needed at the scene and that no structural process was highlighted | :16:29. | :16:32.
for dealing with serial perpetrators. It identifies some | :16:33. | :16:35.
areas where we have very good practice and it also identifies 15 | :16:36. | :16:40.
areas where we need to improve. Those recommendations are now in an | :16:41. | :16:52.
action plan and we are workhng hard on them. Stabbed by her husband | :16:53. | :16:54.
this woman's death in 2008 found both Kent and Sussex Police had | :16:55. | :16:56.
failed her. Changes have bedn made, they say, since but clearly there is | :16:57. | :17:04.
more to be done. Eastbourne famously claims to be the | :17:05. | :17:07.
sunniest place in Great Britain but even so there is a man who will be | :17:08. | :17:11.
bringing even more sunshine to the south coast by playing the comic | :17:12. | :17:17.
genius Eric Morecombe on st`ge. Our reporter Mark Sanders h`s been | :17:18. | :17:20.
to meet Bob Golding, who has taken on the mantle ` and the glasses ` of | :17:21. | :17:25.
the great man, with none other than Eric Morecombe's son acting as his | :17:26. | :17:33.
advisor. The man who brought us such I'd is | :17:34. | :17:38.
bringing it to Eastbourne. The story of Eric Morcambe, as told bx the | :17:39. | :17:43.
actor Eric `` Bob Golding, hs about a life dedicated to laughter. Is | :17:44. | :17:49.
Julius Caesar with you? I h`ve got the hieroglyphics. His performance | :17:50. | :17:56.
as Eric has the backing of Dric s son. At first it was odd but I got | :17:57. | :18:03.
used to it. He is always like this. Where is the? It took a while to get | :18:04. | :18:13.
Eric out of my system. Performing a one`man show is hard enough but it | :18:14. | :18:17.
is even harder when the audhence is so familiar with the subject. It was | :18:18. | :18:21.
when I was put in front of `n audience who knew Eric then it | :18:22. | :18:27.
really hit me. If you do not do the job properly you are going to know | :18:28. | :18:31.
about it fairly soon but th`nkfully I think we got away with it. They | :18:32. | :18:40.
couldn't see the join! What was it like having Eric Morcambe as a dad | :18:41. | :18:43.
when you are trying to bring a girlfriend or some friends `nd? A | :18:44. | :18:48.
nightmare, as simple as that. I have got a shiver down my spine just | :18:49. | :18:52.
thinking about that. He had a very strange habit, like a genie, if you | :18:53. | :18:56.
try to sneak into anywhere hn the house with your mates he was | :18:57. | :18:59.
suddenly come out of the cupboard and you would wonder how he got | :19:00. | :19:04.
there. I love the story that Gail tells of a boyfriend who once owned | :19:05. | :19:08.
the house and Eric answered the phone and said, yes, and thd boys | :19:09. | :19:13.
shyly asked to speak to Gail. He said, I am terribly sorry there is | :19:14. | :19:17.
no telephone at this address and the lads said, oh, sorry, cannot! The | :19:18. | :19:22.
Morecambe and Wise Christmas shows were watched by millions. | :19:23. | :19:30.
Huddled around the TV were Dric and his family. We always used to sit | :19:31. | :19:34.
around and watch the show as a family. He used for about l`ughing | :19:35. | :19:38.
the whole time. At the end of each Christmas show he would comd out and | :19:39. | :19:42.
say that he thought early w`s great and he would walk out of thd room. | :19:43. | :19:46.
It was reminding the family that it takes two to be a double act. Eric | :19:47. | :19:51.
Morcambe may be sadly gone but the play and this performance brings him | :19:52. | :20:00.
back in the minds of many. That is a very brave undert`king. | :20:01. | :20:04.
His son sounds just like hil, doesn't he? | :20:05. | :20:09.
Let us move on to something completely different. | :20:10. | :20:11.
His first professional goal was a 40`yard wonder strike that will live | :20:12. | :20:14.
for a long time in the memory of anyone who was at the Priestfield | :20:15. | :20:18.
Stadium two weeks ago. He also happens to be the son of Gillingham | :20:19. | :20:21.
legend Andy Hessenthaler. J`ke Hessenthaler, who's 19, has been | :20:22. | :20:23.
talking to our reporter Petdr Whittlesea about that goal `nd how | :20:24. | :20:27.
he's a more skilful player than his dad Andy ever was. | :20:28. | :20:33.
For maximum impact if you wdre planning your first league goal it | :20:34. | :20:41.
would look like this. Since that moment, Jake Hessenthaler's strike | :20:42. | :20:44.
has been compared with the super goals of Wayne Rooney and D`vid | :20:45. | :20:50.
Beckham. When I hit it I fell over because I had to swivel a lhttle | :20:51. | :20:54.
bit. I looked up and I saw the ball travelling and I thought it could be | :20:55. | :20:57.
going over but obviously a dip to write in and hit the other side of | :20:58. | :21:01.
the crossbar and just to sed it go in and it go in and it then it was a | :21:02. | :21:06.
great feeling. I was over the moon. Do you think your goal was better | :21:07. | :21:11.
than Wayne Rooney's? He is playing in the Premier league so it might be | :21:12. | :21:16.
a bit harder. I would say it is up there with him as well! It has | :21:17. | :21:21.
helped Jake not to be overshadowed by the career of his father. He was | :21:22. | :21:27.
more aggressive and he would go to people and win the ball back. So are | :21:28. | :21:32.
you more skilled than your father? I think he would actually givd me that | :21:33. | :21:35.
one. I think if you asked hhm, honest truth, I think you would I | :21:36. | :21:42.
want to go and get the ball more and create things that go around kicking | :21:43. | :21:47.
people. That is what he has done since his debut at the end of last | :21:48. | :21:51.
year. Pundits say he is one to watch. Obviously I want to play at | :21:52. | :21:58.
the highest level possible `nd I want to play the biggest gales | :21:59. | :22:02.
without a doubt. At the momdnt I am just concentrating on obviotsly | :22:03. | :22:05.
progressing my career and playing as many games as possible and `t the | :22:06. | :22:09.
moment I am a doubt. At the moment I am just concentrating on obviously | :22:10. | :22:11.
progressing my career and playing as many games as possible and `t the | :22:12. | :22:16.
moment I am at now it is about training hard and fulfilling that | :22:17. | :22:21.
potential. Now, forecasting the weather is a | :22:22. | :22:29.
tricky business. Having to get it right with hundreds of thousands of | :22:30. | :22:32.
people watching and relying on its accuracy, how do you do it? That's | :22:33. | :22:36.
the question our BBC News School Reporters wanted to know today. So | :22:37. | :22:39.
we invited them to spend a bit of time with Rachel Mackley thhs | :22:40. | :22:41.
afternoon. That's right. Today is BBC News | :22:42. | :22:44.
School Report Day. Thousands of students across the country are | :22:45. | :22:47.
getting the chance to see what it's like to be journalists for the day. | :22:48. | :22:51.
We invited group of boys from the Hayesbrook School in Tonbridge to | :22:52. | :22:55.
have a look around at BBC South East Today. Many of their fellow pupils | :22:56. | :23:02.
were severely affected by this winter's flooding and so thdy wanted | :23:03. | :23:06.
to know how we forecast and report the weather. Here's how thex got on. | :23:07. | :23:08.
The winter weather hits Tunbridge hard. We had people around for | :23:09. | :23:12.
Christmas dinner, mostly falily but a couple of friends came around as | :23:13. | :23:16.
well. They managed to save puite a few of their presence as well so | :23:17. | :23:21.
they slept around ours as wdll. I was upset because my Nan 's house | :23:22. | :23:25.
was badly flooded. How long was your property flooded? | :23:26. | :23:29.
It was Christmas Eve when a policeman had to come around our | :23:30. | :23:35.
house to warn us to evacuatd that evening or early hours Christmas | :23:36. | :23:40.
Day. The boys wanted to know how and why. I have looked at The Mdt office | :23:41. | :23:46.
media briefing site so we h`ve an idea what the story is. We `sk them | :23:47. | :23:52.
to pay us a visit. What is ht like to be under pressure when the | :23:53. | :23:57.
weather gets blamed for people's days. As long as we have bedn | :23:58. | :24:00.
accurate as we can be I guess there is always a part of you that feels a | :24:01. | :24:05.
bit upset if it did not go puite to plan. I used to only like stnny days | :24:06. | :24:09.
but now I like it just as long as it does what we said it would do. | :24:10. | :24:14.
Of course we wanted them to have a go as well. As we go through the | :24:15. | :24:17.
week to the weekend it will be hotter throughout and possibly even | :24:18. | :24:20.
on Monday and the wind will slow down. You will be able to sde the | :24:21. | :24:31.
full report on our Facebook page. You can see how all the schools up | :24:32. | :24:35.
and down the UK got on todax by going online. | :24:36. | :24:41.
Earlier we saw one or two hdfty showers around and in the ndxt | :24:42. | :24:45.
couple of days we have some good news for you. The temperatures by | :24:46. | :24:49.
Sunday could reach 19 degreds. Tomorrow there is still a chilly | :24:50. | :24:53.
breeze and a few showers. Wd should stay mostly dry and it will be | :24:54. | :24:58.
warmer by the weekend. Showdrs around earlier but many of ts stayed | :24:59. | :25:02.
dry and there were breaks in the cloud cover. There was such a around | :25:03. | :25:06.
but throughout the day we hdld on to a chilly easterly breeze. | :25:07. | :25:10.
Temperatures just about got out of single figures. A fairly light | :25:11. | :25:14.
breeze but it just added a chilly feel to the day. A few showdrs are | :25:15. | :25:18.
still around at the moment but they will ease as we go into tonhght The | :25:19. | :25:22.
cloud cover will fade away `nd clearer skies. There could be mist | :25:23. | :25:27.
and fog with the light winds but this morning it cleared verx quickly | :25:28. | :25:32.
so tomorrow will have a simhlar story. Temperatures under the | :25:33. | :25:35.
clearer skies mean lows of three or four degrees but it holds up around | :25:36. | :25:42.
the coast. More cloud around as we start the day tomorrow with a few | :25:43. | :25:46.
showers potentially. By the afternoon it will brighten tp and | :25:47. | :25:50.
mainly at being a dry day. The showers will stay to the west of | :25:51. | :25:54.
us. More cloud as you start the day and the mist and fog did `` | :25:55. | :25:58.
disperses. The temperatures should be higher than today. The whnd will | :25:59. | :26:05.
be from the south`east. It will stay fairly light. As we head ovdr into | :26:06. | :26:11.
the weekend it will stay fahrly light but bring in a much drier air. | :26:12. | :26:17.
We will stay dry with cleardr skies but it will not be quite as chilly | :26:18. | :26:26.
as today. It will be mild as we start the weekend. On Saturday we | :26:27. | :26:30.
have the breeze with us but it will stay dry and bright and by the | :26:31. | :26:33.
afternoon we could see tempdratures up to 18 or 19. They will bd welcome | :26:34. | :26:40.
after the chilly temperaturds of this week. It will be a mild night | :26:41. | :26:46.
from Saturday into Sunday. On Sunday plenty of hazy sunshine arotnd. We | :26:47. | :26:50.
have the southeasterly breeze is an through the day it will stax dry. In | :26:51. | :26:55.
the first part of Sunday evdning we expect to see some showers from | :26:56. | :26:59.
Sunday into Monday but even on Monday the temperatures will stay | :27:00. | :27:03.
mild for the time of year. @s we had through the week there will be | :27:04. | :27:05.
further outbreaks of rain btt the good news is that before we get | :27:06. | :27:09.
there, over the weekend, pldnty of hazy sunshine will stop makd the | :27:10. | :27:13.
most of it because it should be lovely. | :27:14. | :27:19.
That is the news we wanted to hear! Colin Campbell one daily News | :27:20. | :27:25.
journalist of the year and fill card one operator productive of the year | :27:26. | :27:29.
at some BBC awards. That was for our Doctor Who | :27:30. | :27:36.
anniversary programme. Thosd awards are quite heavy which is whx we are | :27:37. | :27:40.
not holding them. Congratul`tions to both of them. Goodbye. | :27:41. | :27:46. |
