13 suspected illegal immigr`nts have been found in the back of a lorry

The discovery was made earlher today after officers for Kent Polhce were

called to an Italian registdred lorry at the tollbooths.

Our reporter Simon Jones is live for us at the crossing now.

It was just after half past 11 note this morning, people were driving

along the Dartford Crossing here, they spoke of seeing people coming

out of the back of a lorry. We don't know where they are from, or how

they got on board the lorry, that will be part of the ongoing

investigation. What we do know is that the emergency services were

quickly on the scene. The fhrst report was that 13 or 14 people were

in a container, fortunately, nobody was seriously injured, although one

person did go to hospital for a relatively minor condition. Simon,

has there been any response from the owners of the lorry? The colpany who

owns the lorry belongs to an Italian firm. We have contacted thel, they

say they have 40 years experience in transportation, they confirled it

was their lorry but said thdy are still waiting to hear from the

authorities over here as to what happens next. Last week, we were

reporting about the increashngly volatile situation in Calais, where

lorry drivers say people ard desperate to get aboard the lorries.

Part of the investigation whll be to see whether it was at Calais where
