Good evening. for the late news at 10:10pm.

:00:13.:00:13.

A Sussex schoolboy is one of the first children in the country

:00:14.:00:16.

to receive a prosthetic limb, paid for by the NHS that is

:00:17.:00:19.

13-year-old Ben Moore from Brighton is already using his new running

:00:20.:00:22.

The city's been chosen to pioneer the scheme.

:00:23.:00:32.

A teenager doing what many teenage boys love to do.

:00:33.:00:34.

Play ball games in the park, running around, keep up with friends.

:00:35.:00:39.

Ben Moore has a real love of sport and, thanks to his new blade,

:00:40.:00:42.

there's no limit to what he can do but it's not always been easy.

:00:43.:00:46.

Right, how have you been doing then, since you've had your blade?

:00:47.:00:49.

From birth, Ben's right leg didn't grow as quickly as the left.

:00:50.:00:54.

He made the decision at the age of ten to have amputated.

:00:55.:00:57.

And then you can show what you can do with it.

:00:58.:01:02.

Three years on, Ben is one of the first children in the country

:01:03.:01:05.

to receive a running blade on the NHS.

:01:06.:01:06.

I used to not be able to, like, be able to run as fast or able

:01:07.:01:10.

But now I've got a good amount of power in my leg,

:01:11.:01:15.

So I can do those of skills and hit a ball really well.

:01:16.:01:24.

Brighton is one of just three areas in the country

:01:25.:01:26.

pioneering the scheme, which is part of a ?1.5 million

:01:27.:01:30.

Government fund to help child amputees get active.

:01:31.:01:34.

But specialists believe it'll actually leads to a saving.

:01:35.:01:38.

By offering, where appropriate, the prescription, we can give these

:01:39.:01:41.

children blades and they can compete on a level playing field.

:01:42.:01:44.

It keeps them fit and healthy, it keeps them out of hospital

:01:45.:01:47.

and away from other complications that can arise from that.

:01:48.:01:52.

Ben says he's now training for the Paralympics and is enjoying

:01:53.:01:54.

There were angry scenes in Maidstone today as a gathering of far right

:01:55.:02:02.

protesters were met with a counter protest over plans to

:02:03.:02:04.

The demonstration was organised by the South East Alliance -

:02:05.:02:13.

a pro-English and anti-extremist and immigration group.

:02:14.:02:16.

They were outnumbered by around 50 local supporters.

:02:17.:02:20.

Today is a massive step in Maidstone, especially just

:02:21.:02:21.

to show you how we want to integrate with people and they want

:02:22.:02:25.

I can't thank the people for turning up today enough.

:02:26.:02:28.

Kent Police are searching for the driver of a car

:02:29.:02:30.

which ended up on its roof in Dover this morning.

:02:31.:02:33.

Police officers and the Ambulance Service were called to the scene

:02:34.:02:35.

The male driver reportedly left before the police arrived.

:02:36.:02:40.

In football, Championship leaders Brighton and Hove Albion success

:02:41.:02:42.

in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup this afternoon with a 2-0 win over

:02:43.:02:46.

The victory is the Seagulls' sixth straight win in all competitions.

:02:47.:02:52.

The draw for the fourth round takes place on Monday evening.

:02:53.:02:58.

Now the weather with Elizabeth Rizzini.

:02:59.:03:03.

It felt milder today but it was rather grey

:03:04.:03:08.

Some miss murky conditions as you can see from our weather

:03:09.:03:11.

Not for tonight or indeed into tomorrow.

:03:12.:03:15.

Tomorrow is mostly dry, apart from fine drizzle just falling

:03:16.:03:17.

Overnight tonight, we'll see some hill fog form again over the dams.

:03:18.:03:23.

A very great start to the day tomorrow but a mild one as well

:03:24.:03:27.

Between around 6-7 C for most places.

:03:28.:03:29.

So, tomorrow, it is a murky start but we might just get something

:03:30.:03:34.

a bit brighter forming through the afternoon.

:03:35.:03:35.

Don't hold your breath, it will be predominantly cloudy,

:03:36.:03:37.

Still mild as we head into the start of next week but turning unsettled,

:03:38.:03:46.

there will be some rain on Monday afternoon.

:03:47.:03:52.

Finally, a reminder that BBC South East is hosting a special

:03:53.:03:55.

Question Time-style debate on the on-going crisis

:03:56.:03:57.

This is not a dispute with the public, this

:03:58.:04:08.

is a dispute with the Government and with this company.

:04:09.:04:13.

A bit of a disgrace, really, isn't it?

:04:14.:04:15.

That it has gone on as long as it has.

:04:16.:04:17.

I try to empathise with why they are striking.

:04:18.:04:22.

You pay too much for delays, cancellations and disruption.

:04:23.:04:25.

I don't think the Prime Minister has any idea of the level of suffering

:04:26.:04:35.

and pain that rail passengers and businesses are suffering.

:04:36.:04:39.

There is only one body responsible for the current strike, this

:04:40.:04:41.

You'll be able to watch that special programme this coming Monday -

:04:42.:04:50.

the 9th of January at 7.30pm here on BBC One.

:04:51.:04:58.

Well, that's all from us here this evening. We're back tomorrow

:04:59.:05:04.

evening. Until then, have a very good weekend. Goodbye.

:05:05.:05:08.
