Detectives investigating the death of a baby girl in Sheerness say

they believe she may have been newly born and are appealing

The remains of the little girl were found in Broadway

The remnants of a small fire were also found at the scene.

This morning, police officers carried out a fingertip search

trying to find any forensic evidence after the remains of a newly born

baby girl were discovered on a patch of grass

The detective leading the investigation has appealed

to the child's mother to contact him.

She's potentially just had a baby without any medical assistance.

Clearly, on any view, this is a desperate act.

I'm concerned for her emotional and physical well-being

and I would urge her to either contact us,

who will treat you sensitively, or get medical help.

As churchgoers arrived for mass, the area around

St Henry and St Elizabeth was still cordoned off.

The events were marked by a special prayer.

And if it is a young infant, the poor mother.

There's obviously a whole story behind this, we don't yet know

anything about it and again we need to support them with our prayers.

The police believe the baby's body was left between ten and 12

Relatives of those who died in the Zeebrugge ferry disaster have

gathered at a church in Belgium today to mark the 30th

It's a very mixed day of weather today.

We had a band of heavy rain this morning, followed by some sunny

spells, and then plenty of heavy showers through the afternoon.

As we head through the new working week, it's going to stay pretty

unsettled but it will be a mostly dry and bright start

but there will be further bands of rain and showers at times.

From the middle part of the week onwards,

it's going to start to feel pretty mild again as well.

Overnight tonight, there will still be the risk

of some showers at times but they will gradually fade away.

And it should be a mostly dry start to the day tomorrow,

quite a chilly start as well, four or five degrees Celsius.

Still this legacy of cloud towards eastern areas

of Kent tomorrow morning, perhaps a little bit of drizzle

And it will brighten up quite nicely.

We've got some rain sat towards the south of us,

this could bring some cloud up into the south coast at times.

It could push its way further northwards but I think

There will be some sunny spells through the afternoon and again,
