A couple from Buckinghamshire are among five members of the same | :00:09. | :00:13.
Told he's dying from motor neurone disease, but Allan's family believe | :00:14. | :00:17.
it's another illness - Lyme disease - and are | :00:18. | :00:19.
And major work and major disruption as part of the M4 is closed in both | :00:20. | :00:23.
A couple from Buckinghamshire are believed to be among five | :00:24. | :00:42.
members of the same family to have died in a helicopter | :00:43. | :00:45.
It's thought the aircraft had taken off from the home of Kevin | :00:46. | :00:48.
and Ruth Burke in Hulcote near Milton Keynes. | :00:49. | :00:50.
The wreckage was discovered in Snowdonia. | :00:51. | :00:52.
Narrowing the search to south Snowdonia allowed | :00:53. | :00:58.
a concentration of effort, the military joining | :00:59. | :01:00.
civilian volunteer teams from Aberglaslyn and Ogwen Valley. | :01:01. | :01:02.
It must have felt like looking for a needle in a haystack. | :01:03. | :01:06.
Mid-morning they found the crash site and the five bodies. | :01:07. | :01:08.
The news was given at a police press conference. | :01:09. | :01:20.
Poor weather has been hampering the search, | :01:21. | :01:22.
with some horrendous conditions reducing visibility to less | :01:23. | :01:24.
I can sadly now confirm that a crash site has been located and five | :01:25. | :01:28.
people have lost their lives during this incident. | :01:29. | :01:30.
I'm sure you'll appreciate this is an agonising time | :01:31. | :01:32.
for the families and friends of all involved and our thoughts | :01:33. | :01:35.
The helicopter is a Twin Squirrel, manufactured by Airbus. | :01:36. | :01:43.
It took off from the Luton area yesterday afternoon to make | :01:44. | :01:47.
At some stage, it disappeared from the radar. | :01:48. | :01:51.
The helicopter was owned by Kevin and Ruth Burke, | :01:52. | :01:53.
Mrs Burke is originally thought to come from Dublin, | :01:54. | :01:58.
Conditions on the ground improved marginally through the day. | :01:59. | :02:04.
The investigation into what happened will have already begun. | :02:05. | :02:07.
The wreckage and bodies yet need to be recovered. | :02:08. | :02:09.
Roger Pinney, BBC South Today, Trawsfynydd. | :02:10. | :02:22.
Ten men have been charged with nearly 60 offences linked | :02:23. | :02:24.
to child sexual exploitation between 2008 and 2015. | :02:25. | :02:26.
Police carried out a series of raids in Banbury earlier this week. | :02:27. | :02:29.
Six more suspects were arrested in Oxford today. | :02:30. | :02:44.
The family of a paralysed man from Aylesbury say that, | :02:45. | :02:47.
"he's been sent home to die" without proper treatment. | :02:48. | :02:49.
Allan Sheppard was diagnosed with motor neurone disease. | :02:50. | :02:51.
But his family believe it's Lyme disease, caused by ticks. | :02:52. | :02:53.
They've paid for blood tests to prove it's Lyme | :02:54. | :02:55.
and are battling for him to be treated with antibiotics. | :02:56. | :02:58.
A month after falling into a coma in 2014, | :02:59. | :03:01.
Allan Sheppard from Aylesbury was diagnosed with motor neurone | :03:02. | :03:03.
disease, a debilitating neurological condition. | :03:04. | :03:05.
I couldn't talk and I couldn't move... | :03:06. | :03:10.
It was devastating and we didn't know what to think. | :03:11. | :03:13.
It didn't add up, none of it, that someone could walk | :03:14. | :03:16.
into hospital and then be paralysed and then on a ventilator. | :03:17. | :03:21.
Then Allan developed a bull's-eye-shaped rash on his leg, | :03:22. | :03:24.
and a few months later their pet dog died from Lyme disease. | :03:25. | :03:28.
She picked it up from our garden because she had ticks on her. | :03:29. | :03:31.
All these pieces came together that it was Lyme disease. | :03:32. | :03:33.
The doctors didn't really know about Lyme disease in the ICU. | :03:34. | :03:36.
Lyme disease is a bacterial infection passed on from ticks. | :03:37. | :03:45.
It can be treated with antibiotics if caught early, but if treatment | :03:46. | :03:50.
is delayed or the disease is misdiagnosed, it can lead | :03:51. | :03:53.
Simone and her mum spent ?2,000 on private blood tests in Germany. | :03:54. | :04:00.
The results came back positive for Lyme disease. | :04:01. | :04:04.
Allan's doctors agreed to put him on antibiotic | :04:05. | :04:06.
treatment for a fortnight, his family says that's | :04:07. | :04:08.
After they saw he'd regained movements, they said, | :04:09. | :04:14.
"It is all in your head, we won't give you any | :04:15. | :04:17.
They said, "You've got MND and that is the end of it." | :04:18. | :04:24.
Those in charge of Allan's care said they were unable to comment | :04:25. | :04:27.
The Department of Health says new guidelines for diagnosing | :04:28. | :04:30.
and treating Lyme disease are expected to be | :04:31. | :04:32.
Simone's still fighting to get her dad's case re-examined | :04:33. | :04:38.
and says she's prepared to raise thousands of pounds for private | :04:39. | :04:42.
Drivers planning to use the M4 through Berkshire are being warned | :04:43. | :04:53.
The motorway will be closed in both directions between Junction 12 | :04:54. | :04:57.
There'll be a series of weekend closures during April and May. | :04:58. | :05:02.
Some people living along the route say they've only just | :05:03. | :05:04.
found out about the work, but the Highways Agency says it has | :05:05. | :05:07.
been writing to affected residents and businesses. | :05:08. | :05:09.
The traffic's been busy here all afternoon between junctions | :05:10. | :05:19.
12 and 13 but tomorrow night, at 9pm, it'll fall silent, | :05:20. | :05:21.
there will be no traffic on there when the work | :05:22. | :05:24.
Rosemary Boorstin is a local farmer and runs a local fishery. | :05:25. | :05:27.
What do you think of the way this has been managed? | :05:28. | :05:30.
What I was slightly upset about, I've been going around the farmyard, | :05:31. | :05:33.
and various different people I've been speaking to say, | :05:34. | :05:35.
"Do you realise the M4 is actually going to be closed completely | :05:36. | :05:38.
They're saying, "Rosemary, you're talking rubbish, as normal. | :05:39. | :05:41.
But, actually, it is going to be shut for two or three days | :05:42. | :05:45.
which is going to have a huge impact on everybody. | :05:46. | :05:47.
There is a major football match as well. | :05:48. | :05:49.
I'm especially worried about the Leeds-Reading game, | :05:50. | :05:52.
which is obviously exit 11, which is not relevant | :05:53. | :05:54.
to exit 12 but, of course, it's going to back up. | :05:55. | :05:57.
But I think it's just sad that too many people don't know about it. | :05:58. | :06:00.
Well, the work will continue on the road. | :06:01. | :06:03.
It'll stay closed day and night and reopen on Monday morning by 6am. | :06:04. | :06:09.
A week after Thames Water was given a record fine for pumping billions | :06:10. | :06:12.
of litres of untreated sewage into the River Thames, | :06:13. | :06:14.
households are being warned they may also be polluting waterways - | :06:15. | :06:18.
Liquids poured down storm drains often flow directly | :06:19. | :06:21.
into local rivers and streams, without being filtered or treated. | :06:22. | :06:24.
Armed with boxes of warning notices, tubes of heavy glue and leaflets | :06:25. | :06:34.
to put through letterboxes, these volunteers are on a mission. | :06:35. | :06:36.
Rainwater-only warning stickers are being put on each and every | :06:37. | :06:43.
drain on this Newbury estate because everything that goes | :06:44. | :06:45.
down them flows directly into the River Lambourn - | :06:46. | :06:47.
a Site of Special Scientific Interest. | :06:48. | :06:50.
Some people have something to get rid of, they will think, | :06:51. | :06:55.
"Shall I put it down the drain, in the house...? | :06:56. | :06:58.
No, don't do that, let's pour it down the drain out in the street," | :06:59. | :07:01.
Earlier this month, dozens of swans had to be rescued when diesel oil | :07:02. | :07:06.
Absorbent booms had to be deployed as part of a huge | :07:07. | :07:10.
And when it comes to pesticides, even the smallest amount | :07:11. | :07:14.
Visually, people cannot see there is pollution until people get | :07:15. | :07:20.
in and do a thing called kick sampling and you find | :07:21. | :07:22.
that the inveterate population has crashed, which is what happened | :07:23. | :07:25.
in 2013 on the River Kennet, where literally two teaspoons full | :07:26. | :07:29.
of a chemical was put down a storm drain and it caused devastation | :07:30. | :07:32.
for the wildlife from Aldborough all the way down the Hungerford. | :07:33. | :07:38.
So it is just so important that, particularly with storm drains, | :07:39. | :07:41.
that people do realise that whatever goes down a storm drain goes | :07:42. | :07:44.
completely untreated straight into that river. | :07:45. | :07:45.
And now, thanks to these volunteers, there're little reminders everywhere | :07:46. | :07:48.
A tortoise from Aylesbury has become an internet sensation. | :07:49. | :07:54.
Called Bubba, he loves to chase a ball around his home. | :07:55. | :07:56.
A video of him in action has had around 60 million views. | :07:57. | :07:59.
There's nothing he likes best than a good runaround. | :08:00. | :08:10.
Ever since he joined this family in Aylesbury, | :08:11. | :08:12.
Since he targeted the cat's treat ball, though, things | :08:13. | :08:23.
From Twitter, to Facebook, to YouTube, Bubba is now a major | :08:24. | :08:28.
internet star with this video racking up around 60 million views. | :08:29. | :08:33.
Making him one of the most famous tortoises on the planet. | :08:34. | :08:36.
The ball happened to be on the floor. | :08:37. | :08:38.
We got him out, as we usually do, just to have a runaround | :08:39. | :08:41.
and exercise, and he saw this ball and went for it, which | :08:42. | :08:44.
So I thought I'd record it and stick it up for a bit of fun on Twitter. | :08:45. | :08:49.
It's kind of just the fact that it's a tortoise going so quickly. | :08:50. | :08:52.
That's not what people think tortoises are like. | :08:53. | :08:54.
There's so many videos posted on your Twitter and Facebook, | :08:55. | :08:59.
and this has happened to be this one that's famous. | :09:00. | :09:05.
Bubba's video continues to draw an audience. | :09:06. | :09:07.
The hope is he may even start earning online royalties. | :09:08. | :09:11.
The star, oblivious of his fame, continues to enjoy time in his | :09:12. | :09:14.
His family say what he enjoys most of all is being out | :09:15. | :09:20.
Now he is known by more people than anyone could have imagined. | :09:21. | :09:31.
Happiness for Bubba is chasing a plastic purple ball. | :09:32. | :09:33.
There's probably a life lesson there in that for all of us. | :09:34. | :09:36.
Good evening. Overnight tonight we are looking at increasing cloud and | :09:37. | :09:53.
outbreaks of rain but it will be mad. Temperatures remaining in | :09:54. | :09:58.
double figures in most places with those of ten, 11 Celsius. The rain | :09:59. | :10:00.
will be light and patchy but we could have the odd heavy burst for | :10:01. | :10:04.
Western parts can the early hours of the morning and dry weather to, | :10:05. | :10:07.
particularly for the East where we particularly for the East where we | :10:08. | :10:11.
will see clearer skies. A mild and cloudy start tomorrow, are bits of | :10:12. | :10:14.
rain during the morning, which will clear. With the breeze coming from | :10:15. | :10:18.
the South, F. Two draw in some slightly drier conditions through | :10:19. | :10:21.
tomorrow afternoon. Still the rest of the odd isolated shower, | :10:22. | :10:25.
temperatures reaching a high of 15, maybe up to 16 Celsius in any | :10:26. | :10:29.
prolonged periods of sunshine and the winds will be light during the | :10:30. | :10:35.
afternoon, so it will feel pleasant in any sunny spells. Through the | :10:36. | :10:38.
course of tomorrow night, there is the chance of patchy rain and | :10:39. | :10:40.
increasing cloud. Saturday is a sunny spells and scattered showers. | :10:41. | :10:45.
Even the risk of the odd thunderstorm with hail. The winds | :10:46. | :10:48.
will be light, as you can see a widening of the mist Abbas, so if | :10:49. | :10:51.
you catch the showers on Saturday, they may be slow-moving with hail | :10:52. | :10:56.
and thunder. Over the next few days, a lot of cloud around each morning | :10:57. | :10:59.
but brightening up each day and a lovely, sunny day on Sunday. | :11:00. | :11:01.
time of year. The chance of a shower on Saturday. Sunday will be dry. | :11:02. | :11:09.
Hello, it will cool off over the next few days but that's not | :11:10. | :11:17.
unusual, given how warm it was today. This was London. We just had | :11:18. | :11:22.
the warmest March day since 2012, 20 two Celsius in the Sunnis skies in | :11:23. | :11:26.
the south-east. It was much warmer than recently in north-eastern | :11:27. | :11:30.
Scotland, but in between we had a zone of outbreaks of rain. It's | :11:31. | :11:34.
pretty wet in south-west Scotland and North West England at the | :11:35. | :11:38.
moment. This was the scene earlier, with rainy skies. There's more rain | :11:39. | :11:43.
to come overnight. We could see a few splashes running eastwards into | :11:44. | :11:47.
England, but most of the wet weather is further west. We will see heavy | :11:48. | :11:50.
rain arriving in Northern Ireland. Further training north-west England | :11:51. | :11:54.
and also for Scotland. -- further rain. It will stay very mild for the | :11:55. | :12:00.
time of year. Tomorrow, there may be a little early sunshine for East | :12:01. | :12:02.
Anglia and | :12:03. | :12:04. |
