That's all from us. It's goodbye from me. And on BBC One | :00:00. | :00:07.
Hello, I'm Sally Taylor. Welcome to South Today. In tonight's programme: | :00:08. | :00:13.
It was an act of love and compassion ` a couple's suicide pact. They | :00:14. | :00:16.
asked their daughter to prepare a tumbler of lethal drugs, which they | :00:17. | :00:18.
then drank. A part`time judge goes on trial over | :00:19. | :00:22.
her role in the Chris Huhne/ Vicky Price speeding affair. | :00:23. | :00:24.
Going green at the hairdressers ` we're not talking about colour, but | :00:25. | :00:27.
cutting your fuel bills. And, celebrating 50 years of a | :00:28. | :00:30.
supercar that was built in Eastleigh. | :00:31. | :00:44.
An inquest has heard how an elderly Berkshire couple who couldn't face | :00:45. | :00:49.
life apart were helped to die by their daughter. Georgina Roberts, | :00:50. | :00:52.
who's 59, told Newbury Coroner's Court that she acted out of | :00:53. | :00:55.
compassion and love when she gave her parents lethal drugs at their | :00:56. | :01:01.
request in July 2012. Retired GP Dr David Arnold and his wife Elizabeth | :01:02. | :01:05.
had made a pact that they would commit suicide when the quality of | :01:06. | :01:09.
their lives became unbearable. Briony Leyland was at the inquest. | :01:10. | :01:22.
The couple were in poor health. That's right. Doctor David Arnold | :01:23. | :01:25.
had Parkinson's disease. He was 82. His wife, Elizabeth, at the manager | :01:26. | :01:31.
and diabetes. Neighbours I spoke to said they were a lovely couple and | :01:32. | :01:36.
Doctor Arnold had been very active before he had a leg amputated. They | :01:37. | :01:40.
told family and friends they would end their lives when they felt their | :01:41. | :01:44.
health and quality of life was unbearable. On July 13, 2012, they | :01:45. | :01:48.
both took lethal quantities of eight track. And their daughter helped | :01:49. | :01:54.
them. That's right, Georgina Roberts with her brother Stephen and Simon | :01:55. | :01:59.
pictured at the inquest said she bought the drug online at her | :02:00. | :02:03.
father's request. She said she asked their parents if they were sure | :02:04. | :02:08.
today was the day, and they said it was. She described how they fell | :02:09. | :02:13.
into a deep sleep. She told the inquest she loved her parents very | :02:14. | :02:16.
deeply and wanted to help them when they could not help themselves. | :02:17. | :02:20.
And no action has been taken against her? That's right, there is a | :02:21. | :02:25.
criminal offence of assisting suicide, but the CPS decided in this | :02:26. | :02:31.
case it was not the public interest to pursue a prosecution the coroner | :02:32. | :02:34.
recorded a narrative verdict and said there was no doubt that | :02:35. | :02:38.
Georgina Roberts had assisted the deaths of her parents, but she said | :02:39. | :02:42.
looking at the evidence, he accepted that she had been motivated by love | :02:43. | :02:46.
and compassion and a desire to carry out their wishes. | :02:47. | :02:49.
Police are questioning a 22`year`old man who has been arrested on | :02:50. | :02:52.
suspicion of the murder of a woman who was house sitting in a West | :02:53. | :02:56.
Sussex village. Valerie Graves, who was 55, was found dead two weeks ago | :02:57. | :03:00.
in the bedroom of a house at Bosham near Chichester. She had injuries to | :03:01. | :03:05.
her face and head. The man is being questioned at Brighton custody | :03:06. | :03:11.
suite. The police are not releasing any other details of the arrest. | :03:12. | :03:15.
It was one of the biggest political stories of last year ` the | :03:16. | :03:18.
resignation and jailing of former Eastleigh MP Chris Huhne after he | :03:19. | :03:21.
lied about speeding. The reverberations from that incident | :03:22. | :03:23.
continue as today, part`time judge Constance Briscoe went on trial. | :03:24. | :03:32.
She's accused of lying to the police about her role in helping his | :03:33. | :03:35.
ex`wife reveal his wrongdoing in the media, charges she denies. Earlier, | :03:36. | :03:38.
I asked our reporter Naomi Grimley about the background to the case. | :03:39. | :03:49.
Constance Briscoe was a neighbour of Vicky Price and Chris Hughton `` | :03:50. | :03:54.
Chris Huhne in south London. They went through a very to mulch is time | :03:55. | :04:00.
when their marriage collapsed after Chris Huhne admitted an affair, and | :04:01. | :04:05.
there was a very high`profile case about his driving offence, and | :04:06. | :04:08.
whether his wife had taken his penalty points on his behalf. | :04:09. | :04:13.
Constance Briscoe was due to be a witness in that high`profile case, | :04:14. | :04:20.
and the case today efforts over how reliable was the evidence she gave | :04:21. | :04:23.
to the police. The prosecution here today have accused her of being | :04:24. | :04:26.
high`handed and deceitful with the police. What does the prosecution | :04:27. | :04:34.
allege she has done? In particular, they say that she gave false | :04:35. | :04:38.
statements to the police. For example, they say that she did not | :04:39. | :04:42.
tell them how much contact she had been having with the newspapers on | :04:43. | :04:48.
behalf of the Keith rise. They also accuse her of presenting herself is | :04:49. | :04:55.
a projective witness in the case, when in fact they say she was very | :04:56. | :05:00.
much intent on Chris Huhne's downfall. Constance Briscoe go | :05:01. | :05:06.
denies the charges against her and intends to fight them when she takes | :05:07. | :05:10.
the witness stand and a few days. Why has this case drawn so much | :05:11. | :05:15.
attention? Not only because of the political connections to this case, | :05:16. | :05:19.
but also because Constance Briscoe was one of the first female black | :05:20. | :05:23.
judges in this country. She was not a particularly senior judge, but she | :05:24. | :05:28.
was a part`time judge. Obviously, any case which involves a judge | :05:29. | :05:32.
ending up in the dock is going to attract a lot of media interest. | :05:33. | :05:37.
A man jailed for the murder and attempted rape of a Gurkha's wife in | :05:38. | :05:40.
Berkshire has had his prison sentence increased because it was | :05:41. | :05:43.
considered too lenient. Glenn Nelson was jailed for a minimum of 25 | :05:44. | :05:47.
years, but today the Court of Appeal increased that by five years. | :05:48. | :05:51.
Mother`of`three Krishnamaya Mabo disappeared after going for a walk | :05:52. | :05:54.
near her home in Arborfield last June. Her body was found the | :05:55. | :05:59.
following day. She had been strangled. | :06:00. | :06:03.
She was supposed to be keeping young men away from crime, but today a | :06:04. | :06:06.
University Lecturer in Criminology has appeared in court accused of | :06:07. | :06:10.
helping a drugs gang that carried out a shooting in Southampton. Three | :06:11. | :06:15.
men are on trial for the murder of Jahmel Jones. Lecturer Rachel | :06:16. | :06:19.
Kenehan, who had mentored one of the defendants in prison, is charged | :06:20. | :06:22.
with assisting the offenders. Emma Vardy is in St Mary's, where the | :06:23. | :06:31.
shooting happened. It was at a flat in this street | :06:32. | :06:35.
where it happened in April last year, and soon after this area was | :06:36. | :06:41.
full of police activity. The victim, Jahmel Jones, was a well known drug | :06:42. | :06:50.
dealer operating in Southampton. Today, the prosecution said his | :06:51. | :06:55.
killers were a rival gang of drug dealers who had come down from | :06:56. | :06:58.
London and were also dealing class eight drugs here. Jones was shot and | :06:59. | :07:03.
killed instantly and the three men now on trial for his murder are | :07:04. | :07:06.
Pierre Lewis, Jemmikai Orlebar`Forbes, and Isaac Boateng, | :07:07. | :07:08.
all from London and in their twenties. But the really surprising | :07:09. | :07:12.
part of this case is the involvement of the University Academic in | :07:13. | :07:18.
Criminology, Rachel Kenehan. She is alleged to have met one of the | :07:19. | :07:21.
defendants, Pierre Lewis, while she was part of a prison mentoring | :07:22. | :07:24.
scheme. She later began helping them run their drugs operation in | :07:25. | :07:29.
Southampton. She appeared at court today, accused of helping the gang | :07:30. | :07:31.
flee Southampton after the shooting, and of trying to destroy forensic | :07:32. | :07:36.
evidence. The prosecution said that, as she had an in depth knowledge of | :07:37. | :07:40.
criminal behaviour, it was ironic she had become so involved in this | :07:41. | :07:48.
way. Do we know yet why she might have | :07:49. | :07:53.
started helping them? Well, we know that she formed a relationship with | :07:54. | :07:57.
PN Lewis and had in fact intended to marry him, but there is no | :07:58. | :08:01.
suggestion that she was forced into this. The prosecution said today | :08:02. | :08:05.
that she was involved with an element of gusto and enthusiasm, but | :08:06. | :08:10.
her three co`defendants deny murder, she denies assisting the offenders, | :08:11. | :08:14.
and we will hear more about what happened here as the trial | :08:15. | :08:21.
continues. Police are exploring links between a | :08:22. | :08:24.
fatal fire in Littlehampton and two other incidents earlier in the day. | :08:25. | :08:29.
A man died in his flat and the seafront last year. | :08:30. | :08:36.
It is now four months since the fire hit at South Terrace in | :08:37. | :08:39.
Littlehampton. It was just after 1am on September 12 when a fire was | :08:40. | :08:43.
started behind the front door of a house converted into flats. One | :08:44. | :08:49.
occupant died. The death of Terri Davis, who had learning | :08:50. | :08:53.
difficulties, is being treated as murder. There are questions about | :08:54. | :08:57.
why it took so long to find him, and the Fire Service is continuing an | :08:58. | :09:01.
internal investigation. Sussex Police are now connecting the fire | :09:02. | :09:04.
to two other incidents are a few hours earlier. In a nearby road at | :09:05. | :09:10.
3pm on the same day, white spirit was poured around the front door of | :09:11. | :09:18.
a house. Whites spirit was also used to start the later fire which killed | :09:19. | :09:23.
Mr Davies. A car was also set on fire to hours before the fatal fire. | :09:24. | :09:28.
All the incidents took place in a small area close to the seafront. | :09:29. | :09:32.
Detectives are linking the three incidents because they all happened | :09:33. | :09:37.
within a short period of time. They are appealing for anyone with | :09:38. | :09:40.
information to come forward so they can bring justice to the family of | :09:41. | :09:51.
Mr Davies. It's emerged that 90 New Forest | :09:52. | :09:55.
ponies and cattle died in the last six months after eating acorns. The | :09:56. | :09:58.
nuts are toxic to most livestock animals, but not to pigs. This | :09:59. | :10:01.
year's pannage, where pigs are released to hoover the acorns up, | :10:02. | :10:05.
was extended to cope with a bumper crop. But the Verderers, who oversee | :10:06. | :10:08.
the forest's animals, say this year's death rate is much higher | :10:09. | :10:11.
than the eight deaths they'd usually expect. | :10:12. | :10:13.
Still to come in this evening's South Today: Paul Clifton gets | :10:14. | :10:16.
behind the wheel of his favourite car. | :10:17. | :10:18.
As we continue our look at the South's forgotten motorcars, I take | :10:19. | :10:20.
a drive in this supercar, built in Eastleigh. | :10:21. | :10:27.
A woman from Worthing is calling for a change in the law to give parents | :10:28. | :10:34.
whose babies are stillborn greater rights. At the moment, if a baby | :10:35. | :10:36.
dies before 24 weeks of pregnancy, the death is not registered. Hayley | :10:37. | :10:40.
Petts has the support of the former Children's Minister and MP for East | :10:41. | :10:43.
Worthing and Shoreham, Tim Loughton, who took the debate to Parliament. | :10:44. | :10:51.
Ellie Price has more. Hayley's son Samuel died in her womb | :10:52. | :10:55.
at 19 weeks. She had to be induced to give birth to him. She says one | :10:56. | :11:00.
of the worst part of her grief is knowing the law does not acknowledge | :11:01. | :11:04.
her son ever existed, which is why she brought her very personal story | :11:05. | :11:08.
to Parliament. I had contractions as any normal mother would do, and I | :11:09. | :11:14.
gave birth to my baby, held him in my arms, cuddled him, had hand | :11:15. | :11:20.
prints taken off him. My family saw him and held him if they wanted to. | :11:21. | :11:25.
Then we had a funeral for him. The fact that he did not exist in the | :11:26. | :11:30.
eyes of the law is a bitter pill to swallow. Today, her local MP | :11:31. | :11:33.
challenged the government to lift the 24 week threshold that defines a | :11:34. | :11:38.
stillbirth to define all mothers who go through labour after a baby has | :11:39. | :11:42.
died. This is purely about giving closure, giving peace of mind and | :11:43. | :11:46.
recognition to parents who have gone through the agony of having a | :11:47. | :11:51.
stillborn child, and have that agony compounded by the fact the state | :11:52. | :11:54.
does not actually recognise that child. That can't be right, and a | :11:55. | :11:58.
simple change in the law could bring a lot more support to those parents | :11:59. | :12:01.
who go through that process. Currently, if a pregnancy ends | :12:02. | :12:05.
before 24 weeks it is recorded as a late miscarriage, even if the mother | :12:06. | :12:09.
had to go through labour. The parents have no right to maternity | :12:10. | :12:13.
or paternity leave, and the child's death will not be legally | :12:14. | :12:17.
registered. You need time to grieve, which is another reason why it is | :12:18. | :12:22.
important that if there is a change of the dates, it is taken account of | :12:23. | :12:29.
the psychological damage that is caused to parents and families, they | :12:30. | :12:33.
need that time to grieve. It is not known how many cases there are | :12:34. | :12:38.
similar to Hayley's. She hopes her experience will eventually help | :12:39. | :12:48.
others. A music festival looks to be back on | :12:49. | :12:51.
this year after a dramatic turn of events to stage a event in the town. | :12:52. | :12:59.
There was one bidder left after a rival firm pulled out on the eve of | :13:00. | :13:07.
the decision. It had started a two horse race, but | :13:08. | :13:11.
in the final furlong, it emerged today that the big boys had quit the | :13:12. | :13:18.
contest. But if Guildfest organisers had expected to romp home, they had | :13:19. | :13:22.
reckoned without memories of 2012 in their previous operation folder. We | :13:23. | :13:26.
have two protect the public taxpayer and also the public assets of the | :13:27. | :13:33.
park. By making sure every thing is paid in advance, we hope to | :13:34. | :13:36.
alleviate those risks. Today, the local team was engaged in a scramble | :13:37. | :13:40.
to book acts and get everything ready in just six months. We have | :13:41. | :13:46.
been doing Guilfest for six years, so we know what buttons to push, who | :13:47. | :13:52.
to contact straightaway. It is going to be tight, but the are confident | :13:53. | :13:59.
about pulling it off. At the festival venue, most today rallied | :14:00. | :14:02.
behind the local team. I am so excited. I love Guilfest. I have | :14:03. | :14:06.
been going there since I was four years old. I play the drums myself, | :14:07. | :14:12.
and it is a good way to get local musicians and other people who don't | :14:13. | :14:15.
get to play huge venues all the time somewhere to play. Guildford should | :14:16. | :14:20.
have it. It is their thing, they started it. So, Guilfest is back, | :14:21. | :14:26.
possibly. But there is a whole series of milestones that has to be | :14:27. | :14:30.
reached, from getting a licence to finding the money, to making sure | :14:31. | :14:33.
that the council would be left out of pocket if things go wrong again. | :14:34. | :14:39.
With just a year's commitment, it is hardly a free endorsement, more that | :14:40. | :14:43.
the council has decided to go with the only show in town. We all know | :14:44. | :14:48.
that gas and electricity prices rises have been difficult to | :14:49. | :14:51.
swallow, but a new report out today suggests more than half the | :14:52. | :14:54.
households in the South East struggled to pay their energy bills | :14:55. | :14:56.
last year. The charity behind the report says | :14:57. | :15:00.
people need to be aware of the help schemes available and how to keep | :15:01. | :15:04.
bills as low as possible. It comes as researchers in Southampton have | :15:05. | :15:07.
uncovered an unusual method of passing on energy saving tips ` talk | :15:08. | :15:10.
to your hairdresser. Katy Austin reports. | :15:11. | :15:24.
It is about not washing your hair so often. Hairdressers speak to more | :15:25. | :15:27.
people every day than any other profession. Instead of asking about | :15:28. | :15:32.
holidays, Charlotte passes on energy`saving advice. I know how | :15:33. | :15:35.
hard it is in business and at home, so if anybody can cut their bills | :15:36. | :15:40.
down and save some energy and help the environment, then great. Wash | :15:41. | :15:43.
your hair less, use your hair dryer on a lower temperature or lower | :15:44. | :15:50.
speed. With your straighteners, use a lower temperature. The idea came | :15:51. | :15:54.
from Southampton University who have researched ways to cut energy | :15:55. | :15:58.
usage. A hairdryer uses 20 times more power than a television, so | :15:59. | :16:03.
leaving your head to dry naturally says energy. It is about efficiency. | :16:04. | :16:07.
How come get the same amount of funds using less energy, less | :16:08. | :16:14.
resources? Prices are going up, so the more we get into energy`saving | :16:15. | :16:18.
habits, the more we will be saving energy. Those savings will only | :16:19. | :16:22.
increase. We can only really expect energy prices to go up and up. Being | :16:23. | :16:27.
more energy efficient is not just a green idea. It could help save the | :16:28. | :16:30.
pennies for people struggling to pay their bills. One charity turned to | :16:31. | :16:39.
us found the gap between what people can afford and what they pay has | :16:40. | :16:42.
widened automatically. The charity found that one in five households | :16:43. | :16:49.
owning up to ?40,000 has had someone become ill because they can't pay | :16:50. | :16:53.
for heating. Most people we spoke to are already trying to save. We had | :16:54. | :16:58.
insulation placed in the attic, cavity insulation in the walls, and | :16:59. | :17:01.
we have changed the light bulbs to LED lights. I switch everything off. | :17:02. | :17:06.
That's all I can do. In the morning I don't put the heating on at all. I | :17:07. | :17:10.
have got energy efficient light bulbs. I have my gas and Electric on | :17:11. | :17:17.
a timer. The government has promised it will cut energy bills by ?50 a | :17:18. | :17:22.
year. For now, taking Charlotte's word of mouth advice is one way of | :17:23. | :17:25.
turning down the heat on your bank account. | :17:26. | :17:36.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth will host the five`time European Champions | :17:37. | :17:39.
Liverpool in the next round of the FA Cup. Bournemouth fans helped to | :17:40. | :17:42.
pay for Burton Albion fans to travel to the re`arranged third round game | :17:43. | :17:46.
at the Goldsands last night. And it was the Cherries supporters who left | :17:47. | :17:49.
happy as Bournemouth went on to wind 4`1. Tickets for the glamour tie | :17:50. | :17:52.
against Liverpool in the fourth round are sure to be in high demand. | :17:53. | :17:59.
I thought it was touch and go at 2`1. I thought they could come back | :18:00. | :18:02.
and get something, but they didn't and Bournemouth went through the | :18:03. | :18:08.
stop pretty good. Really, really chuffed. The club deserves it. They | :18:09. | :18:12.
have been through really bad times in the last few years, so this is | :18:13. | :18:17.
amazing. Liverpool now. Absolutely amazing. Brilliant. | :18:18. | :18:31.
This close range strike made it 2`1 at the break. The home side's | :18:32. | :18:44.
dominance could have brought more goals. There was a late penalty from | :18:45. | :18:51.
Pitman which sealed their victory. A chance to show how far the club has | :18:52. | :18:54.
come in recent years. It lets us showcase how we say, the style of | :18:55. | :18:58.
football we increment here. Hopefully we can do ourselves | :18:59. | :19:02.
justice. Elsewhere in the FA Cup, Oxford United will have to replay | :19:03. | :19:07.
Charlton Athletic. The current cup holders Wigan overcame the MK Dons | :19:08. | :19:11.
at the second time of asking and after extra time. | :19:12. | :19:13.
The Executive Chairman of Southampton football club, Nicola | :19:14. | :19:16.
Cortese, is to weigh up his future in the next few days, and could step | :19:17. | :19:19.
down as chairman. It's thought to be over divisions | :19:20. | :19:23.
about the club's future with owner, Katharina Liebherr. The 45`year`old | :19:24. | :19:25.
Italian, who has guided Saints from League One to the Premier League, | :19:26. | :19:29.
threatened to walk away in May, but eventually decided to stay after | :19:30. | :19:31.
receiving the necessary assurances. The club has so far declined to | :19:32. | :19:41.
comment. The signing of James O'Connor has | :19:42. | :19:46.
definitely had a positive impact on London Irish. The full`back scored | :19:47. | :19:49.
all 22 points in a recent victory over Worcester and seems to be | :19:50. | :19:55.
putting his past behind him. James O'Connor has already made a | :19:56. | :19:59.
huge impact at London Irish, but he arrived with a bad week image. I am | :20:00. | :20:04.
a new person now, and there's a lot of goals and things I have been | :20:05. | :20:08.
working on. Not just myself, but I have had a lot of help from other | :20:09. | :20:15.
people. It is always good to have a support system and genuine people | :20:16. | :20:18.
around you. The Australian international has been the start of | :20:19. | :20:22.
the show. His contract runs out at the end of the season, and there are | :20:23. | :20:25.
questions over his future at the club. I want to get back to | :20:26. | :20:30.
Australia, play for my country in the World Cup. It's what I have | :20:31. | :20:34.
always wanted to do. I want to be wearing a gold jersey. I wanted back | :20:35. | :20:43.
in 2015 for the rugby season. Whether he stays or not, he insists | :20:44. | :20:47.
the future looks bright for the team that gave him a second chance. If | :20:48. | :20:52.
you look at it statistically, every rugby player can feel momentum on | :20:53. | :20:59.
the field. Every game I have been a part of, there have only been one or | :21:00. | :21:02.
two where I have felt we have been beaten. The other ones I have felt | :21:03. | :21:11.
we have lost ourselves. We are right on track in terms of the rugby | :21:12. | :21:14.
programme and it will only get better. With new owners, things are | :21:15. | :21:20.
certainly looking good for London Irish in 2014. | :21:21. | :21:28.
This week we've been looking at the forgotten cars built in the South. | :21:29. | :21:31.
And this year marks the 50th anniversary of a great but often | :21:32. | :21:34.
overlooked classic. Plans are being made for 50 Gordon Keeble cars to | :21:35. | :21:39.
mark the occasion in style. It was a genuine supercar, built at | :21:40. | :21:43.
Southampton Airport. Paul Clifton has clearly enjoyed taking one for a | :21:44. | :21:48.
spin. The logo shows a tortoise. But this | :21:49. | :21:54.
was more of a hare. The idea was to build a British supercar, with a | :21:55. | :21:57.
huge American engine and delicate Italian styling. The Italian | :21:58. | :22:03.
designer was just 19 years old. The noise from this week American V8 | :22:04. | :22:12.
engine is just gorgeous. When it was launched, Autocar magazine said it | :22:13. | :22:16.
was the most electrifying car ever seen. I have driven these cars a few | :22:17. | :22:27.
times, and I have to say, they are just about the most wonderful cars I | :22:28. | :22:35.
have ever driven. Only 99 of these cars were ever made. Now, 49 years | :22:36. | :22:42.
later, more than 80 of them are still on the road. We've come to | :22:43. | :22:45.
Southampton Airport. The Gordon Keeble cars were built on what is | :22:46. | :22:49.
now the passenger terminal and its car park. Derek Baker was an | :22:50. | :22:58.
apprentice who helped build them. We are right in the old factory where | :22:59. | :23:02.
the bodies used to be wheeled across on the slave chassis is for final | :23:03. | :23:08.
assembly, and the cars were finally assembled. It aimed to be a genuine | :23:09. | :23:15.
grand touring car that could transport for 6`foot people in | :23:16. | :23:18.
comfort. The car reached speeds of 150 miles per hour, and Syria`60 in | :23:19. | :23:24.
just about six seconds, which was very quick for its time, and even | :23:25. | :23:27.
today those are stunning figures. Don Sinclair has owned this one | :23:28. | :23:36.
since 1975. I just love it shape, I love the look of its the car. When | :23:37. | :23:42.
you are only now give it some persuasion, it is just so different. | :23:43. | :23:46.
These are collector's cars. The owners all seem to know each other. | :23:47. | :23:50.
Later this year, they're planning to gather 50 Gordon Keebles to mark the | :23:51. | :23:58.
50th anniversary of the car. What is the appeal? Clearly, the | :23:59. | :24:05.
performance. Outstanding. Massively effective grand touring car. A new | :24:06. | :24:11.
one cost just under ?3,000. Today, they change hands for ?50,000. This | :24:12. | :24:18.
is the most gorgeous car. Few people have heard of the Gordon Keeble. | :24:19. | :24:22.
But, to me, this masterpiece made in Eastleigh remains one of the finest | :24:23. | :24:32.
cars ever made. Now, last week you may remember how | :24:33. | :24:36.
we covered the return home of HMS Illustrious. The crew had spent | :24:37. | :24:38.
Christmas away, helping victims of the typhoon in the Philippines. We | :24:39. | :24:42.
put the film on our Facebook page ` and it's gone viral in the | :24:43. | :24:47.
Philippines. Hundreds of people have left comments, thanking the Royal | :24:48. | :24:50.
Navy for their work. Maria Mamon was one. She says, "Thank you from the | :24:51. | :24:54.
bottom of our hearts. We will always remember all the goodness and | :24:55. | :24:56.
kindness you offered to us Filipinos. God bless you all". | :24:57. | :25:09.
Lovely comments. Onto the weather now. | :25:10. | :25:15.
Yes, lots of rain today. We have some photos from today. These are | :25:16. | :25:25.
Canada geese on the flooded water meadows. | :25:26. | :25:35.
Ltd Brighton yesterday. A few of us saw some sunny spells, but tonight | :25:36. | :25:41.
we will see a band of rain working its way in from the West. That rain | :25:42. | :25:44.
will drift eastward through the cause of the night, turning into | :25:45. | :25:47.
showers once the main rain band has pushed through. The showers could be | :25:48. | :25:52.
on the heavy side. There will be a few dry periods with a few spells, | :25:53. | :25:56.
but mild temperature is for the time of year. The winds increasing its | :25:57. | :26:02.
peak during the second part of the night from the south`west. Tomorrow | :26:03. | :26:08.
will see some thunderstorms, even with some hail mixed in for good | :26:09. | :26:14.
measure. Those showers continue to move in from the West. Highs of nine | :26:15. | :26:21.
Celsius. Very similar to what we had today. Tomorrow night, we do it all | :26:22. | :26:25.
again with more rain and showers. Longer spells of rain at times, with | :26:26. | :26:29.
the odd thunderstorm and some hail. The showers will last for much of | :26:30. | :26:32.
tomorrow night into the early hours of Friday morning, with temperatures | :26:33. | :26:40.
falling to a mild 5`8 Celsius. Quite strong winds. Friday will see some | :26:41. | :26:45.
showers. The wind coming from the south or the south`west Britney in | :26:46. | :26:49.
those showers from the Indus channel. Another band of rain lurks | :26:50. | :26:54.
in the English Channel, which will creep in by dark on Friday, so | :26:55. | :26:59.
further rain in the forecast. It won't help the flooding situation. | :27:00. | :27:04.
The outlook for the rest of the week, we are expecting some showers | :27:05. | :27:07.
tomorrow, some bright spells but more cloud than sunshine. A brisk | :27:08. | :27:12.
southerly breeze, so those showers could be on the blustery side. | :27:13. | :27:15.
Further showers on Friday with a strong south`westerly breeze. The | :27:16. | :27:20.
best day of the weekend will probably be Sunday. Saturday looks | :27:21. | :27:24.
rather wet and miserable with lots of rain in the forecast and strong | :27:25. | :27:28.
winds for parts of west Sussex. Showers later on on Sunday, but a | :27:29. | :27:37.
dry start to the day. Tomorrow night we will find out the | :27:38. | :27:40.
real story behind Colin Firth's new film. Good night. | :27:41. | :28:17.
Hidden beneath your feet are magical worlds, | :28:18. | :28:19.
home to extraordinary little creatures. | :28:20. | :28:22.
Imagine being able to experience this wonderland through their eyes. | :28:23. | :28:32.
see the incredible adventures of these miniature heroes | :28:33. | :28:36. |
