Dozens of people have gathered on Weymouth beach to protest

against new laws that will stop them walking their dogs.

The dog ban has been extended from Easter

Local dog owners argue it's the only time of year

they get to enjoy the beach, and nearly a thousand peopld

have signed a petition against the changes.

But others insist the ban is safer for children.

No place for man's best fridnd from Good Friday to the end

And it's got dog owners hot under the collar in Weylouth.

63% of us, I think it is, said we didn't want this ch`nge

But they've brought this in anyway, so we feel as locals that wd've

I don't see no reason why dogs should not be allowed

We're all very good, we all pick up our dogs' mess -

But the council says the consultation had a good

response, and stress it's about improving public health.

He lost 30% of his vision, and feels the ban is appropriate.

People, when they've got thdir dogs, they're chatting to each other,

they're not minding what their dogs are up to.

Of course the dogs go do thdir thing - they of course call the dogs back

not realising what they've done and walk off.

So the dog's left mess on the beach, and of course everybody,

whether it be toddlers or children running around into it,

the fact is it'll be transfdrred as a disease for them.

It will go before the counchl in January.

Anthony Ridgway has cerebral palsy, and has always had a way with words.

Stories have been part of his life since he was a boy.

And this weekend saw his very own book launch.

Wizzy The Animal Whisperer is about a boy and his wheelchair.

Anthony has had much support from the local community -

as well as actor David Suchdt, who was at the launch.

He can just about type with one finger, but his sense

of humour is amazing, and you can see that in the book.

I wonder if people realise that having a disability doesn't stop

If you really want to, you can.

When I met him, he had actu`lly been to see some of the agents.

And he was very disappointed, because they said to him,

"Love your story, but can wd not have a wheelchair in them?"

And I said, "But that's nuts, that's absolutely crazy."

"As if she were reading my lind Nellie ambled towards me..."

For someone like him who's so creative, he's the most

wonderful human being, it's such a pleasure to be here

today, and actually support him and to see HIM the star of the show.

So many people give up, don't they?

And he'll carry on doing more, I expect!

Well, we've had a lot of cloud through today.

Some of us have seen some stnshine, but I think as we had
