I'm Edward Sault with the news in the south.

The mother of a teenager whose body was recovered from the sea off

Dorset earlier this year is now working with other young

people to encourage them to stay safe on nights out.

Louis Harris was 18 when he went missing in Weymouth in the early

Here's our Dorset reporter Simon Clemison.

Louis Harris was a teenager out for a night in a seaside resort,

The search for him went on for weeks.

Police dived by the same quayside that people come to enjoy.

For a while, Weymouth was a different town.

He was last seen here in the early hours.

He had been at university and had come back to celebrate

Eventually his body was pulled from the scene nearby.

Events leading up to his death are still not clear -

But his mother has started working with pupils at his old school,

She's hoping to talk to many more young people so that when they're

old enough to go out drinking, or even before, they take steps

to protect themselves, like charging up their mobile phones

and not getting separated from each other.

We need to be realistic and practical, and not tell people,

you know, not to drink, and accept that they will do,

You know, so that they can make choices and understand

I kind of wing it and hope for the best.

What, with your phone-charging? Yeah.

Yeah, you just kind of don't really pay much attention

to it because you are so, like, involved in

Most drink things for teenagers, it seems quite patronising.

It's like, "Don't drink, you're not old enough."

Whereas this one treats you like you're an adult, which I liked.

This could have been the most important lesson

A vigil has been held in Reading this afternoon to show solidarity

with the thousands of people trapped in the besieged city

It comes as efforts are made to resume the evacuation

of civilians from the rebel-held area of the city.

Those supporting the Reading event say it's important people

here in the UK know what's going on in Aleppo

We will be rehousing Syrian children and refugees in the town,

and I think it's important for them to realise that

Despite what some of the press may say, or the comments you see

on Facebook or Twitter, Reading is a welcoming town,

and Reading's richness is simply because of its cultural diversity,

and so I would like to stand with the people who are supporting

Syria and show them that I care because I really do.

There'll be more disruption on Southern Rail services tomorrow,

as train conductors begin a 48-hour walk-out.

The RMT union is in dispute with the rail operator over

plans to make drivers - rather than guards -

Last week there were no Southern services at all for three days,

when the drivers' union Aslef also went on strike.

A swimming pool in Berkshire, which has been in use

for more than a century, has closed for good today.

Reading Borough Council says it can't afford to keep

It's told campaigners the pool will be replaced by a new facility

But it means the Reading Dolphin Swimming Club will now be wound up

after holding its last session at the pool today.

All its members have a disability or visual impairment.

We will all be separating and we won't be meeting here any

more on Sunday mornings, as we have done

So it was always a very friendly kind of club.

I am just so sad, because I think there are so many people around

here and it is in such a good area for people to walk.

The buses stop outside and, yeah, it's just so sad.

Now let's take a look at the weather.

We've have had some stubborn mist and fog in places for today,

and it is quickly re-thickening this evening.

The Met Office has issued a fog warning and some of this could be

quite dense as we had through the night tonight,

Mostly that will keep us frost-free, but you could see a little bit

These are typical low temperatures, though, five or six Celsius.

One or two showers but mostly dry through the night tonight.

But a murky old start to things tomorrow morning,

Gradually that will lift but it will be quite

Some bright spells, though, I think are a possibility,

And temperatures tending to struggle a bit, at seven or eight Celsius.

And we have got the risk of some patchy outbreaks

of rain moving in through the evening.

Now, as we head into Tuesday, a murky start, again with a little

bit of rain and drizzle a possibility, and then it does tend

to turn more unsettled, with spells of rain as we head towards midweek.

That fog is also having an impact at airports.

Hello. Exactly a week to Christmas but it did not feel that way in

north-east Scotland today with temperatures as high as 13 Celsius

in Aberdeenshire. This is one Weather Watcher's view. It is colder

and Misty and murky in South Wales. You could see some dense fog patches

developing
