Detectives in Cornwall investigating a suspected double

murder have found a car and what they believe to be a body on

farmland near St Austell. They are searching for two men who have been

missing from their homes for a month. A man was arrested earlier

this week and are still being questioned by the police.

Detectives and a specialised search teams have been working on this

land at this remote farmhouse for several days now. They have been

using excavating equipment, radar and victim of recovery stocks. They

now say they have found a car and the remains of at least one person

inside the vehicle. The vehicle is fire-damaged, it was buried, it is

full of soil. Early indications are that there are the remains of at

least one person inside that vehicle. It is very difficult to

excavate that and identify what exactly those remains are and who

they are. That is a slow, painstaking process that we will

continue over the next 40 it are us. These are the men that they are

looking for, their families say they were visiting the county to

visit a friend but they have not been seen for a month.

Operational alliances are at the centre of a row on board HMS Ocean.

The naval crew says it is being denied extra payments because the

ship is stationed outside the official operational zone of Libya.

Loved ones at home claim it is causing low morale at sea.

The crew of HMS Ocean were on a routine deployment when she was

sent to join the NATO presence off Libya, the Dean the crew to believe

they would be entitled to the operational allowance. Part of the

NATO operation, just because of this 12 miles on, HMS Ocean are

being told they are not getting their pay. The pilots obviously are

because they fly into the beer. I understand that but they wouldn't

be able to fly without HMS Ocean. There are either under operations

are they are not. If they are, give them what they deserve. If not,

bring them home or tell us because we don't know. In response, the

Ministry of Defence says the allowance is not paid to those

whose deployment represents no increase in threat or his living

conditions are not made arduous by their deployment.

Two men accused over an alleged plot to attack and rob the singer

Joss Stone have appeared in court. Junior Bradshaw and Kevin Liverpool

from Manchester appeared at Exeter Crown Court. The two men were

arrested in Cullompton last month just a few miles from the singer's

home. They were remanded in custody until October.

Hundreds of mourners turned out to bid farewell to the stalwart of the

South Devon Railway, Brian Cocks who died last month. He drove the

first public train on the preserved steam line in 1969. This morning

his coffin was taken by train to Staverton accompanied by family and

friends. The England cricket captain and

Middlesex batsman Andrew Strauss took the unprecedented step of

playing for Somerset against India at Taunton today. Strauss is using

the friendly fixture as a warm-up for England's Test series against

the No. 1 ranked Test side in the world. He scored a quick-fire 78

runs before being caught by the Indian wicketkeeper.

A very unsettled weekend in store. Already, we're seeing some of that

rain heading our way. There is a cloud and rain band pitching in

from the West this afternoon, it will continue to do so overnight so

further outbreaks of rain and held fog as well. The rain will become

increasingly heavy until the early hours of tomorrow morning at all

that cloud means it will be a mild night, feeling lucky for many of us

with temperatures no door than 14 and 15 degrees. Tomorrow, we will

see a good deal of rain through the morning, again summer heavy rains.
