BBC weather website. That is it all from the BBC's News at Six. | :00:00. | :00:10.
Training police drivers. We're on patrol after a widow | :00:11. | :00:15.
criticised the Devon and Cornwall force at an inquest. | :00:16. | :00:19.
Good evening. It followed a crash in which a suicidal driver was being | :00:20. | :00:22.
followed by the police. Tonight we'll find out about the training | :00:23. | :00:30.
officers receive. Police drivers are trained to a high standard and if we | :00:31. | :00:35.
bring into many restrictions on how they carry out their duties, they | :00:36. | :00:38.
will be actually fettered in their job. Also tonight, the parents who | :00:39. | :00:45.
claim there is some's suicide was linked to an acne treatment. They | :00:46. | :00:49.
take the campaign to Westminster. Doctors defend the use of the drug. | :00:50. | :00:54.
But an MP wants further investigation. And after vandalism? | :00:55. | :00:58.
The volunteers helping to remove graffiti from their neighbourhood. | :00:59. | :01:02.
`` and art or vandalism? Devon and Cornwall Police have been | :01:03. | :01:05.
demonstrating the intensive training their drivers are given, after | :01:06. | :01:08.
criticism of the way they dealt with a suicidal man who killed a family | :01:09. | :01:12.
by driving into them. An inquest yesterday concluded Marek | :01:13. | :01:13.
Wojciechowski was responsible for the deaths of two members of the | :01:14. | :01:17.
Twomey family in Torquay last summer. The sole survivor of the | :01:18. | :01:20.
crash, Elber Twomey, has called for changes in the way the police deal | :01:21. | :01:23.
with suicidal drivers. Our home affairs correspondent Simon Hall | :01:24. | :01:34.
reports. Police driving is highly regulated. | :01:35. | :01:39.
To become a senior traffic officer like this sergeant typically | :01:40. | :01:44.
requires ten years of experience. I've got a crossroad up ahead, I've | :01:45. | :01:48.
got a series of bends. Even though I'm travelling in excess of 30 miles | :01:49. | :01:52.
an hour, I've still got the interest of the third party, the innocent | :01:53. | :01:57.
member of the public to consider. Guidelines on police driving are | :01:58. | :02:00.
continually reviewed and have been since the Torquay crash. Devon and | :02:01. | :02:05.
Cornwall Police's policies that anyone joining the force, even | :02:06. | :02:09.
civilian staff, must go through driving safety checks. The response | :02:10. | :02:15.
officer who may have to go beyond the speed limit has to do a | :02:16. | :02:22.
three`week course. Police drivers receive a lot of training. They must | :02:23. | :02:31.
take account of the instant they are going to, the road conditions, the | :02:32. | :02:35.
amount of vehicles on the road, to make sure they drive safely and also | :02:36. | :02:39.
quickly to get to the incident so we can deal with whatever it is and | :02:40. | :02:43.
protect the public. In the Torquay crash, the coroner said the police | :02:44. | :02:47.
driver was exemplary in carrying out his duty. The police watchdog found | :02:48. | :02:51.
he followed guidelines but the coroner also said those guidelines | :02:52. | :02:55.
should be reviewed. The sole survivor, Elber Twomey, said she | :02:56. | :03:00.
didn't blame the police driver but the police service needs to review | :03:01. | :03:03.
Howard steals with a missing person who is known to have left a suicide | :03:04. | :03:05.
note. I think the guidelines already quite | :03:06. | :03:21.
robust. At the end of the day, if we bring into much featuring of police | :03:22. | :03:24.
officers, there won't be able to do their job. They are there to protect | :03:25. | :03:28.
the public from harm at the end of the day. The College of policing | :03:29. | :03:33.
told us they had reviewed police driving guidelines since the crash. | :03:34. | :03:38.
It was highly likely to have influenced the new policy, a | :03:39. | :03:44.
spokesman said. Statistics indicate that fatalities to monks people who | :03:45. | :03:49.
have had contact with the police are mostly in traffic pressures. These | :03:50. | :03:54.
new guidelines attempt to ensure that police driving is as safe as it | :03:55. | :03:59.
can be. A family from Devon say they want to | :04:00. | :04:03.
see a powerful drug used to treat acne banned because they claim it | :04:04. | :04:06.
played a part in their son taking his own life. The Medland family | :04:07. | :04:10.
from Barnstaple were lobbying MPs in Westminster earlier to try and stop | :04:11. | :04:14.
Roaccutane being used. The Manufacturer, Roche, says no causal | :04:15. | :04:17.
link has been established between the medication and either depression | :04:18. | :04:29.
or suicide. Kirk England reports. A star student. Ten years ago, Jon | :04:30. | :04:34.
Medland killed himself. He had been taking Roaccutane. The inquest into | :04:35. | :04:40.
the 22`year`old's death did not find the drug was responsible but a | :04:41. | :04:45.
decade on, his parents still claim it played a part in what happened | :04:46. | :04:48.
and are fighting again to get it banned. I am not going to shut up | :04:49. | :04:56.
this time until the drug is taken off the market, however long it | :04:57. | :05:01.
takes. And I don't care how much I have to do, I've got to work, I've | :05:02. | :05:07.
got to earn a living, but I've got to continue this campaign until | :05:08. | :05:11.
something major happens. In a statement, the manufacturer said. | :05:12. | :05:46.
One south`west dermatologist has told BBC Spotlight that he and other | :05:47. | :05:52.
doctors are happy to prescribe Roaccutane. We have to look at | :05:53. | :05:55.
everything on a case`by`case basis particularly when it comes to | :05:56. | :05:58.
history of depression and potential suicide risk. There is no great | :05:59. | :06:03.
evidence out there that tells us that this drug is definitely | :06:04. | :06:07.
associated with these things. But it's something that we are aware of. | :06:08. | :06:12.
North Devon MP Nick Harvey hosted a Westminster debate on Roaccutane | :06:13. | :06:17.
today. I want to get the British government to have another look at | :06:18. | :06:22.
the drug, have another look at the evidence available from those that | :06:23. | :06:27.
have had psychotic disorders and, in some cases to suicides, and have | :06:28. | :06:32.
taken the drug, and to participate in a study perhaps across more than | :06:33. | :06:36.
just the UK to see what can be determined about the link between | :06:37. | :06:39.
the two. The government body responsible for regulating | :06:40. | :06:43.
Roaccutane said they have kept the safety of the drug under close | :06:44. | :06:47.
review. For this family, their fight continues. | :06:48. | :06:51.
A senior teacher at Colyton Grammar School has been found with more than | :06:52. | :06:55.
6,000 images of child abuse on his home computer. Peter Webber, who | :06:56. | :06:58.
lives in Exmouth, was caught by police in an undercover operation. | :06:59. | :07:02.
At Exeter Crown Court today, Webber admitted 15 charges of making and | :07:03. | :07:07.
two of distributing indecent images. He was given a suspended jail | :07:08. | :07:11.
sentence and ordered to attend a sex offenders' treatment programme. | :07:12. | :07:16.
Webber no longer teaches. Colyton Grammar says the allegations don't | :07:17. | :07:19.
relate in any way to the school or anyone it its community. `` anyone | :07:20. | :07:31.
in its community. An influential committee of MPs | :07:32. | :07:34.
today warned the government to scrap its plans to cut subsidies to | :07:35. | :07:36.
farmers. The Environment Select Committee says farm incomes are | :07:37. | :07:39.
falling and the proposals would make it more difficult for farmers to | :07:40. | :07:42.
compete in the marketplace. Our political editor Martyn Oates joins | :07:43. | :07:45.
us now from Westminster. This is part of a big Europe`wide | :07:46. | :07:47.
reform of the Common Agricultural Policy, isn't it? Yes, the European | :07:48. | :07:52.
Union has cut the budget for agriculture but it is giving | :07:53. | :07:54.
individual member states the option to move some of the remaining money | :07:55. | :07:58.
around, more specifically our government wants to take 15% from | :07:59. | :08:02.
the budget which provides direct payments to farmers to help it with | :08:03. | :08:09.
environmental schemes. The RSPB and others strongly support that but | :08:10. | :08:15.
farming organisations and the select committee are opposed to it. I am | :08:16. | :08:20.
joined by a farmer, the MP for Tiverton in Homerton, and a member | :08:21. | :08:23.
of the select committee. These environmental groups are saying that | :08:24. | :08:27.
because of the overall cuts, environmental schemes are under | :08:28. | :08:31.
threat if this money isn't moved. If you move 9% of the money and not 15% | :08:32. | :08:36.
of the money, you will have enough to cover environmental schemes. | :08:37. | :08:41.
Later if you need that money lets take it then. Don't take it up | :08:42. | :08:46.
front. In the end, getting money up to farmers, making sure we move | :08:47. | :08:50.
money across towards the hills as well to make sure they are properly | :08:51. | :08:53.
looked after those much for the environment, not just about | :08:54. | :08:58.
environmental schemes. The government makes the point as to the | :08:59. | :09:01.
environmental groups that this is public money and, actually, | :09:02. | :09:05.
investing it in environmental schemes, pure and simple, is the | :09:06. | :09:09.
best way to get value for money for the taxpayer. Provided those schemes | :09:10. | :09:13.
are good, but if you've got a higher level entry scheme for many | :09:14. | :09:18.
farmers, which worked well, but as long as you've got enough money to | :09:19. | :09:21.
cover those, the best thing is to get the money, particularly to the | :09:22. | :09:28.
livestock producers, the cow and sheep producers, to make sure those | :09:29. | :09:31.
hillsides and grasslands are well looked after. That is very | :09:32. | :09:35.
important. Government sometimes loses sight of that. Also | :09:36. | :09:37.
simplifying the system is not going to happen `` has to happen. And we | :09:38. | :09:45.
cannot get our maths wrong second time around. So I am looking forward | :09:46. | :09:50.
to a simpler system. Thank you. The consultation on this ended last week | :09:51. | :09:53.
and the government will very quickly chew over the results of this | :09:54. | :09:58.
consultation and they will reach a decision before Christmas. | :09:59. | :10:02.
There's been a sharp rise in the number of motorcyclists killed on | :10:03. | :10:05.
the roads in the Avon and Somerset Police Force area this year. The | :10:06. | :10:08.
fatalities have more than doubled, despite falling in other parts of | :10:09. | :10:11.
the country. Scott Ellis has been finding out who is most at risk, and | :10:12. | :10:19.
why. The worst part of his job is telling | :10:20. | :10:24.
families of the death of a loved one. Behind each tragedy, the raw | :10:25. | :10:32.
data. The at risk group are people over 25, people riding motorcycles | :10:33. | :10:36.
in excess of 500 cc, people who are riding on all roads, and people who | :10:37. | :10:42.
are returning to biking after some years away. Today in | :10:43. | :10:45.
Weston`super`Mare, police were pulling override is to get the | :10:46. | :10:49.
safety message across. When did you pass your test? 77, something like | :10:50. | :10:56.
that. This rider says he was knocked off last December when a car pulled | :10:57. | :11:00.
out. He is also a professional lorry driver. I treat everybody who drives | :11:01. | :11:05.
a car like an idiot. And I'll try to anticipate what they do before I get | :11:06. | :11:09.
to them but you can't always do that. So you take your life. It is a | :11:10. | :11:17.
harsh but often heard few of those on two wheels. The third of this | :11:18. | :11:21.
year's motorcycle deaths were caused by other vehicles crossing into the | :11:22. | :11:25.
path of a bike. The majority, two thirds, or down to write a bike. The | :11:26. | :11:28.
majority, two thirds, or down to ride happened that suggests it is | :11:29. | :11:34.
inexperienced riders making mistakes. And that is backed by | :11:35. | :11:38.
evidence from the shop floor. The average mileage now for bikes is | :11:39. | :11:45.
3,000 miles a year. Even if someone is using one, the average is only | :11:46. | :11:50.
3,000 miles a year. Not a lot of time building up that intimate | :11:51. | :11:52.
knowledge of your motorcycle, so when you go out, you can get into | :11:53. | :12:01.
trouble very quickly. The chief Constable of Avon and Somerset | :12:02. | :12:05.
Police says he is alarmed by the motorcycle deaths and has called for | :12:06. | :12:08.
fixed speed cameras to be switched back on to improve road safety. | :12:09. | :12:13.
Coming up, the community taking direct action to deal with graffiti. | :12:14. | :12:17.
Plus the unsung hero who's dedicated more than 50 years to helping | :12:18. | :12:24.
youngsters learn judo. And something to ruffle a few | :12:25. | :12:27.
feathers, the champion chicken washer. | :12:28. | :12:35.
There are calls tonight for the government to demonstrate more | :12:36. | :12:37.
commitment to wave energy. Millions of pounds have already been invested | :12:38. | :12:40.
in the region to trial various wave energy technologies. More money has | :12:41. | :12:44.
been announced today but the industry has been struggling to | :12:45. | :12:47.
attract capital investment. Our environment correspondent Adrian | :12:48. | :12:55.
Campbell reports. This is the life`saver device which | :12:56. | :12:59.
has been undergoing tests in Falmouth. It is a Norwegian | :13:00. | :13:03.
prototype which turns wave energy into electricity. The design has | :13:04. | :13:07.
relied heavily on research, development and manufacture in the | :13:08. | :13:12.
south`west. Today's announcement of around ?800,000 to help with further | :13:13. | :13:16.
development has been welcomed by those involved. It has come from | :13:17. | :13:21.
small beginnings. We are delighted to see it has managed to get the | :13:22. | :13:25.
growth funding to take the next step and grow to where we have full`time | :13:26. | :13:29.
staff actually operating now and facilitating developers coming out | :13:30. | :13:35.
to the site in a more active way. Developers may soon have some good | :13:36. | :13:40.
news to celebrate. The European Union's regional development fund is | :13:41. | :13:44.
closed awarding another ?2 million to fledglings schemes in the | :13:45. | :13:47.
south`west. These are the devices which it is expected will soon tie | :13:48. | :13:52.
up to wave hub of Hale for further testing in tougher waters. But some | :13:53. | :13:56.
within the industry say there is uncertainty about this government's | :13:57. | :14:00.
commitment to renewables which is unsettling private investors. Any | :14:01. | :14:05.
issue, rolling back of green taxes, for example, dense confidence, it is | :14:06. | :14:10.
one of those factors that can affect confidence. Has the government made | :14:11. | :14:15.
a mistake going down that road recently? I think it didn't have a | :14:16. | :14:21.
choice. This test site has proved that there is plenty of potential | :14:22. | :14:25.
for energy generation. The problem for the industry is that there isn't | :14:26. | :14:31.
enough investment. Now to the subject of graffiti. Some people say | :14:32. | :14:37.
it's art, or a form of expression that has been used since the Roman | :14:38. | :14:41.
Empire. But many more say it's an eyesore, or, in fact, vandalism. | :14:42. | :14:44.
Well, this week in Exeter, community groups are helping clean up their | :14:45. | :14:47.
neighbourhood with graffiti removal kits provided by the City Council. | :14:48. | :15:00.
Scribbled, scratched or sprayed, graffiti is a big problem too many | :15:01. | :15:03.
city councils. In Exeter, they've been handing out special graffiti | :15:04. | :15:07.
removal kits to volunteers from community groups like this one in St | :15:08. | :15:13.
David's to help clean up the city. Everybody is stretched, so it is an | :15:14. | :15:16.
opportunity for the community to step up. I'm actually an admirer of | :15:17. | :15:22.
good graffiti, I have to say. I really do recognise it as a nod. | :15:23. | :15:26.
What we are looking at mainly is tagging. This is really just an | :15:27. | :15:32.
egotistical trip for people to put their tag on. Residents already pay | :15:33. | :15:36.
for a cleaning service within their council tax but Exeter City Council | :15:37. | :15:40.
say they want to empower communities to be able to deal with the graffiti | :15:41. | :15:47.
problem. The council has the graffiti team that go around the | :15:48. | :15:51.
city. There's probably more graffiti than what they can deal with. | :15:52. | :15:56.
Sometimes, too, if there are people within the community who are willing | :15:57. | :16:00.
to come out and help, I think it creates a certain bond within that | :16:01. | :16:04.
community and people showing that they take pride in the area where | :16:05. | :16:09.
they live. It is a criminal offence to leave graffiti and Exeter are | :16:10. | :16:12.
offenders are often made to remove theirs. Graffiti has been a problem | :16:13. | :16:16.
over the last few months. We have had some good successes with five | :16:17. | :16:20.
people being put through the criminal justice system in relation | :16:21. | :16:23.
to the graffiti they've caused in Exeter. What this is about now is | :16:24. | :16:27.
getting a blank canvas to assess how bad that problem is and make Exeter | :16:28. | :16:32.
a great place to live. The police say they will be watching for any | :16:33. | :16:35.
return of graffiti to the cleaned areas. | :16:36. | :16:38.
Now, how well prepared are you to deal with whatever weather this | :16:39. | :16:41.
winter throws at us while you're out driving? December is officially the | :16:42. | :16:44.
beginning of winter so now is the time to consider how you'd cope in | :16:45. | :16:48.
snow and ice. The Highways Agency estimates that a quarter of | :16:49. | :16:51.
motorists don't do cold weather checks on their vehicles, and don't | :16:52. | :16:54.
carry the right equipment. Clare Burton reports. | :16:55. | :17:02.
January 2010. Hundreds of drivers are caught out by a snowstorm in | :17:03. | :17:08.
Devon. Some were stuck for hours. With nothing to eat or drink and | :17:09. | :17:13.
nothing warm to wear. And they are not alone. According to the Highways | :17:14. | :17:18.
Agency, a court of us make no winter checks on our cars and they want | :17:19. | :17:22.
that to change. We've been planning for a long time for this winter. But | :17:23. | :17:27.
what we need people to consider is what they do. So we are ready to | :17:28. | :17:31.
power the roads and grit and deal with it, but they need to be | :17:32. | :17:35.
considering what they are doing, so planning ahead, making sure the | :17:36. | :17:39.
equipment they've gotten their vehicles is appropriate, make sure | :17:40. | :17:41.
they've got water, food, warm clothes. And sense, really. As well | :17:42. | :17:48.
as checking the forecast and planning your journey, items to | :17:49. | :17:49.
carry include... So, are the motorists prepared? No. | :17:50. | :18:08.
I'd be stuck. I normally have a warm coat but that is it. With enough | :18:09. | :18:12.
warning, the Highways Agency can treat the roads before temperatures | :18:13. | :18:17.
fall. And if the white stuff is coming, they want drivers to do the | :18:18. | :18:20.
right things. Good advice, and David's here with | :18:21. | :18:24.
the weather in a few minutes to see if we'll be needing our flasks and | :18:25. | :18:29.
fleeces this week. We probably won't have any snow or ice all winter! But | :18:30. | :18:33.
we will be prepared. All this week we're finding out | :18:34. | :18:36.
about the people you have nominated as the unsung sporting hero of the | :18:37. | :18:40.
south`west. It's a celebration of the people who give up huge amounts | :18:41. | :18:44.
of their own time to help others enjoy sport in the region. Tonight | :18:45. | :18:47.
we meet Alan Kimber, who has been serving the region's biggest Judo | :18:48. | :18:50.
club for more than half a century. John Ayres reports. | :18:51. | :18:58.
Judo's not for the faint`hearted. Alan Kimber is the chairman of this | :18:59. | :19:04.
club. He joined 56 years ago and at the age of 19 he was already | :19:05. | :19:09.
treasurer. In his younger days, he missed out on Olympic selection, but | :19:10. | :19:13.
he has spent his time coaching and mentoring thousands of children over | :19:14. | :19:16.
the years, so what drives him? Judo is one of those sports that gets in | :19:17. | :19:23.
the blood. Once you've done it, you can't really leave it be. I don't | :19:24. | :19:27.
think there is a week on by all my life that I haven't been involved | :19:28. | :19:32.
with judo. These day, he referees and coaches. He is also chairman of | :19:33. | :19:36.
judo in the county. His dedication has served his club in good times | :19:37. | :19:41.
and bad. Most sports clubs will have had trouble, lack of numbers etc, | :19:42. | :19:46.
two different sports coming in. He's always been there, he's made lots of | :19:47. | :19:50.
effort keep the club going. He is the club, really. | :19:51. | :20:01.
He has coached competitors. Alan was awarded his belt a couple of years | :20:02. | :20:14.
ago. You have to be awarded this belt is due to services you provide | :20:15. | :20:18.
for the British judo Association. I've been teaching is so long, | :20:19. | :20:22.
parents bring their kids and they say you taught me when I was a | :20:23. | :20:25.
little boy. It's very nice to hear that, but it makes me look in the | :20:26. | :20:29.
mirror and think, how long have you been doing it? People believe that | :20:30. | :20:34.
without Alan, this club would not have kept going for so long. This is | :20:35. | :20:39.
his legacy. It is hard to believe he has been involved more than 50 | :20:40. | :20:43.
years. More from our unsung heroes series | :20:44. | :20:46.
tomorrow and you can find out who the winner is in Spotlight on | :20:47. | :20:48.
Friday. Some sports news and Yeovil Town | :20:49. | :20:51.
take on promotion`chasing Blackpool tonight at Huish Park. The Glovers | :20:52. | :20:55.
recorded one of the best results in the club's history at the weekend | :20:56. | :20:58.
beating Watford 3`0 away. But they're still in the Championship | :20:59. | :21:01.
relegation zone with just three wins from seventeen matches. `` from 17 | :21:02. | :21:05.
matches. And you can hear full commentary on | :21:06. | :21:08.
Yeovil Town versus Blackpool on BBC Somerset on 95.5 FM from seven | :21:09. | :21:13.
o'clock tonight. Over the next few weeks, many people | :21:14. | :21:17.
will be spending a lot of time in the kitchen preparing for Christmas. | :21:18. | :21:20.
But in one kitchen in Cornwall, they're busy in a very different | :21:21. | :21:23.
way. We've been to meet Clive Stephens who has just won one of the | :21:24. | :21:27.
country's top trophies for his work. Spotlight's Eleanor Parkinson | :21:28. | :21:34.
explains. Clive Stevens has been breeding and | :21:35. | :21:37.
showing poultry for more than 40 years and has won many trophies. | :21:38. | :21:41.
He's just returned from the National portrait exhibition where he scooped | :21:42. | :21:46.
a top award, the supreme champion. So, what is his secret? At this time | :21:47. | :21:50.
of year, you'll find him in the kitchen a `` in the kitchen with the | :21:51. | :21:57.
washing up liquid, washing his birds. You can get into trouble with | :21:58. | :22:01.
mites and that type of thing. This makes sure they are completely | :22:02. | :22:05.
clean, right through. You think they are not dirty, but when you see the | :22:06. | :22:09.
water one I tip it away, although I keep them pretty clean all the time, | :22:10. | :22:12.
it just gives them that little bit of extra. People think I'm washing | :22:13. | :22:18.
the dishes and all of that. Then they looked down and they think I'm | :22:19. | :22:24.
crazy! She is clucking away, is she happy? Yes, she is quite contented. | :22:25. | :22:29.
What does his wife think of him taking over the kitchen? I was a bit | :22:30. | :22:34.
flabbergasted the first time when I realised what was happening in the | :22:35. | :22:39.
kitchen. But I have got used to it over 30 years. After a rinse, the | :22:40. | :22:46.
band to Ms placed on the board to dry off. So your technique is just | :22:47. | :22:51.
use the towel? Yes. Have you used her drivers? Yes but it drives them | :22:52. | :22:56.
a bit too quick and they tend to be a bit frizzled. So I don't bother | :22:57. | :23:04.
with that. I just go like this. I give them a mass of. Actually it | :23:05. | :23:10.
will take 24 hours for this tend to dry out completely, so she will be | :23:11. | :23:14.
placed in a box next or warm radiator. Clive has another showing | :23:15. | :23:19.
this week so he will be busy in the kitchen. | :23:20. | :23:27.
That's great, isn't it? That chicken was enjoying it! I think I've seen | :23:28. | :23:29.
it all. We will now look back before we look | :23:30. | :23:38.
forward. Good evening, we will look back at | :23:39. | :23:41.
the weather for the month of November. Not particularly dramatic | :23:42. | :23:47.
in terms of statistics. Let's start by having a look at the rainfall | :23:48. | :23:56.
amounts. The average is 100 millimetres and we are not far off | :23:57. | :24:02.
at 91.3. Sunshine, we are down. Generally a lot of cloud around. We | :24:03. | :24:06.
should see and hundred hours, but we are down to 77 hours. It was a | :24:07. | :24:12.
cloudy month. And temperatures, nothing too outstanding in the | :24:13. | :24:18.
daytime temperatures. The night`time average is 6.1 degrees but we are | :24:19. | :24:22.
below that. So it has been colder during the night. And the last two | :24:23. | :24:27.
weeks we've noticed that a lot. South`west water reservoir levels, | :24:28. | :24:30.
this time last year they will almost fall, and at the moment we are shy | :24:31. | :24:36.
of 80% full. Not too much to worry about this we have a very dry | :24:37. | :24:41.
winter. But look at the details for the forecast. We have a change | :24:42. | :24:46.
tomorrow. After two grey and dull days, it brightens up and we should | :24:47. | :24:51.
see some sunshine. We have sunshine in the afternoon and by the end of | :24:52. | :24:55.
the day, feeling just a little bit colder. The colder air floods in. | :24:56. | :24:59.
That is the great stripe of cloud. There is a nice clearance the other | :25:00. | :25:04.
side of that well have some well broken cloud. We do have front | :25:05. | :25:09.
bringing in cold air syncing across the country. Not quite getting to | :25:10. | :25:16.
the Channel Islands but for most of south`west England, the afternoon is | :25:17. | :25:20.
much brighter and that will see the sunshine. The time we get to | :25:21. | :25:24.
Thursday, it is a breezy day, the winds from the north`west becoming | :25:25. | :25:28.
strong through the afternoon and we might see a few showers towards the | :25:29. | :25:31.
end of the day but nothing compared to other parts of the country, which | :25:32. | :25:36.
could be very windy indeed. There is that cloud structure from early on, | :25:37. | :25:41.
not much brightness. Our cameraman Jeff tried to find some sunshine in | :25:42. | :25:45.
the sky but he wasn't fortunate enough to find any at all. A grey | :25:46. | :25:50.
day. Very calm seas, though, so for our date voters, good fishing | :25:51. | :26:01.
weather. `` for our day boaters. There is a breeze developing | :26:02. | :26:04.
tomorrow into Thursday, so perhaps these calm scenes won't be mirrored | :26:05. | :26:08.
moving towards the end of the week. Overnight tonight, the cloud is | :26:09. | :26:12.
stubborn, it doesn't shift, and thick enough for some rain now and | :26:13. | :26:16.
then. Nothing to worry about, though. Tomorrow morning, grey and | :26:17. | :26:22.
misty with a fair amount of cloud. Overnight temptress, a few degrees | :26:23. | :26:27.
above freezing in Somerset, for most of us well above freezing. Tomorrow | :26:28. | :26:31.
is a cloudy morning with outbreaks of rain at quickly into the | :26:32. | :26:34.
afternoon it will brighten up nicely with the sunshine popping out and | :26:35. | :26:39.
temperatures probably up at nine or ten. They are falling through the | :26:40. | :26:44.
day as that breeze continues to freshen coming in from the north and | :26:45. | :26:48.
drawing in cold air all the time. Slow to clear, that were the front, | :26:49. | :26:54.
for the Isles of Scilly. Patchy rain into the afternoon. The times of | :26:55. | :26:55.
high water. Surfing has been very disappointing. | :26:56. | :27:09.
There is slightly more of a wave tomorrow. Up to three feet and | :27:10. | :27:13.
choppy on the north coast. The winds will be mainly from the north, three | :27:14. | :27:17.
to four, picking up to force five moving into the evening. Thursday, a | :27:18. | :27:22.
breezy day, no doubt. Some sunny spells with the risk of some | :27:23. | :27:27.
showers. Then high pressure comes back into the weekend and it all | :27:28. | :27:31.
quiet and is down again. Have a good evening. | :27:32. | :27:34.
Don't forget, commentary of the Yeovil match on the radio in a few | :27:35. | :27:43.
minutes time. And we will be back at 6:30pm tomorrow evening. From all of | :27:44. | :27:44.
us, goodbye. | :27:45. | :27:46. |
