Hundreds of people have been forming red lines outside

community hospitals, in protest over planned cuts.

They say April Fool's Day was deliberately chosen

These schemes for closure are completely foolish

and this is April the 1st, the day in which we expose

The protests held at ten locations across Devon

Health bosses overseeing the changes say they are aiming for consistently

excellent care against the backdrop of severe financial pressure.

Holsworthy Community Hospital has a temporary hold on inpatients

and locals are fighting to change that.

The trust says concerns over the high number of agency nurses,

low bed occupancy and staff sickness forced the temporary closure

to inpatients but stresses the hospital is still open

A surfer's been rescued from the sea in strong winds during a charity

More than a hundred rowing boats have been taking part in one

of the biggest races of its type in the UK.

The 'Head of the Dart' nine mile event attracts entrants

There's nothing chicken about rowing 15 kilometres down the River Dart.

The time trial has been run for some 40 years

They sent me a map and they said come on down, it's 15K,

it's a lovely day and it's a great race, and here I am.

It's one of the longest uninterrupted races

The quickest crews will reach Dartmouth in about 45 minutes.

We just treat it as a good training session rather than a race.

But there are others, that it's a challenge for.

Nothing to fear for the Muffin club, named after their post

We've had sunshine and showers around for today.

We might catch a few mist fog patches here and there,

but not too many of those and it does turn a bit chilly as we head
