Firefighters tonight remain at the scene of a huge gorse fire

The flames are now out but crews will continue damping

Five firefighters were injured as they tackled

At its height 20 fire engines were at the scene.

Assisted by high winds, it spread rapidly.

The smoke could be seen from M5 near Exeter.

Some of the 100 firefighters sent to tackle the blaze suffered injuries.

inhalation as a result of trying to protect the public by moving them

One of those firefighters suffered minor burns and has

been taken to hospital for precautionary checks.

When the fire was out, the extent of the burn became clear.

Meanwhile, three people were taken to hospital after a fire at a hotel

in Torquay which police believe was started deliberately.

It broke out in the basement bar of the Bancourt Hotel
