Hello. There's reasonably strong signals

0:00:030:00:05

that the longer-term outlook into next week promises more warm weather,

0:00:050:00:08

but the real weather action is in the short-term.

0:00:080:00:11

The heat again triggering some thunderstorms.

0:00:110:00:14

The atmosphere is really volatile at the moment,

0:00:140:00:17

storms tracking their way Northwards

0:00:170:00:19

over the next 24 hours.

0:00:190:00:20

Some places will miss them,

0:00:200:00:22

there'll be warm sunshine on Saturday,

0:00:220:00:24

but be prepared for some torrential rain,

0:00:240:00:27

particularly across Western Scotland.

0:00:270:00:29

The storms mostly across Eastern Northern Ireland in the morning,

0:00:290:00:32

maybe largely dry afternoon here.

0:00:320:00:34

And much of the day,

0:00:340:00:35

dry in Eastern Scotland as well,

0:00:350:00:36

though it will be quite cloudy.

0:00:360:00:38

A risk of further thunderstorms

0:00:380:00:40

developing across parts of England and Wales.

0:00:400:00:42

They will be hit and miss and well scattered.

0:00:420:00:45

Some places will avoid them and stay dry.

0:00:450:00:47

In the sunshine across parts of the East,

0:00:470:00:49

temperatures could get close to 30 Celsius.

0:00:490:00:52

But the heat and humidity means that when the storms occur,

0:00:520:00:55

they could be violent, dropping a lot of rain in a short space of time.

0:00:550:00:59

A risk of localised flooding,

0:00:590:01:02

a risk of further disruption to transport.

0:01:020:01:04

And they don't stop on Saturday afternoon,

0:01:040:01:06

they keep going through the evening,

0:01:060:01:08

clumps of storms heading Northwards.

0:01:080:01:11

We could import some more from France

0:01:110:01:13

across East Anglia and the South-East.

0:01:130:01:15

For some, the weather calms down

0:01:150:01:16

a little bit on Saturday night,

0:01:160:01:18

it will still be warm,

0:01:180:01:19

still humid, still quite misty,

0:01:190:01:21

particularly around some coasts.

0:01:210:01:23

Sunday is again a day

0:01:230:01:24

where we're watching the skies,

0:01:240:01:27

watching the storms develop,

0:01:270:01:28

most likely across Eastern areas,

0:01:280:01:30

close to this weather front at first.

0:01:300:01:32

But it is tending to pull away through the day

0:01:320:01:35

and there are signs of

0:01:350:01:36

a ridge trying to build in.

0:01:360:01:38

That's mostly for Monday though.

0:01:380:01:40

Still on Sunday, the emphasis

0:01:400:01:42

will be on showers, not as many,

0:01:420:01:43

maybe not as violent,

0:01:430:01:45

but still the potential

0:01:450:01:46

for some intense downpours, come the afternoon.

0:01:460:01:49

In the brighter spells,

0:01:490:01:50

it will still feel pretty warm and humid,

0:01:500:01:52

with temperatures widely into the low to mid 20s.

0:01:520:01:56

Now, the weather fronts, the low-pressure systems

0:01:560:01:59

are still close by on Sunday night

0:01:590:02:02

and into Monday, but amongst all this debris,

0:02:020:02:04

this little bump in the isobars

0:02:040:02:06

does push its way across the UK.

0:02:060:02:08

It's a ridge of high pressure

0:02:080:02:09

and it's likely to calm the weather right down

0:02:090:02:12

for much of next week.

0:02:120:02:13

There'll still be rain

0:02:130:02:14

across North-East Scotland on Monday

0:02:140:02:16

and a few showers can't be completely ruled out.

0:02:160:02:18

But generally Monday, dry and bright,

0:02:180:02:21

and that area of high pressure really starts

0:02:210:02:23

to push in across the UK

0:02:230:02:25

on Tuesday and for Wednesday.

0:02:250:02:27

Weather fronts are trying to come in from the West,

0:02:270:02:29

but it looks at the moment as if

0:02:290:02:31

the high pressure will keep them

0:02:310:02:33

at bay on Tuesday, maybe more cloud in the West,

0:02:330:02:35

one or two late showers,

0:02:350:02:36

but generally it's a fine day

0:02:360:02:38

and starting to warm up again as well.

0:02:380:02:40

Temperatures widely in the mid to maybe high 20s.

0:02:400:02:43

That weather front makes a few more inroads on Wednesday.

0:02:430:02:46

Could bring rain, particularly to Northern Ireland.

0:02:460:02:49

But generally, high pressure keeping things fine,

0:02:490:02:52

could be an Easterly breeze

0:02:520:02:54

bringing showers across the South-East,

0:02:540:02:56

but for most, the weather looks set fair.

0:02:560:02:59

And that trend may well continue.

0:02:590:03:01

It does look as if, for the back end of next week into the weekend,

0:03:010:03:05

high pressure will dominate and be close by.

0:03:050:03:07

Probably out into the North Sea,

0:03:070:03:09

which could allow low-pressure systems to come

0:03:090:03:11

into the South-East, and the far North-West.

0:03:110:03:13

So these areas likely to see a bit more cloud

0:03:130:03:15

and that's where we could see some showery rain.

0:03:150:03:18

But for most, high pressure calming things down,

0:03:180:03:21

bringing dry and warm sunshine.

0:03:210:03:23

In the shorter term, do watch out for those thunderstorms.
