Hello, welcome to the forecast that looks further ahead than the others | 0:00:03 | 0:00:06
and our reward for looking into next week's weather, | 0:00:06 | 0:00:08
is that we find high pressure settling things down. | 0:00:08 | 0:00:11
But between now and then, there's another area of low pressure | 0:00:11 | 0:00:14
moving close to the UK, | 0:00:14 | 0:00:16
pushing rain-bearing weather fronts northwards | 0:00:16 | 0:00:18
and still some of that early on Thursday, | 0:00:18 | 0:00:20
spreading north across Scotland, but clearing away from eastern England. | 0:00:20 | 0:00:24
Rainfall amounts - not too much, it's fairly quick-moving, | 0:00:24 | 0:00:26
and then behind that, a zone of brighter weather, | 0:00:26 | 0:00:29
then another area of cloud with outbreaks of rain | 0:00:29 | 0:00:31
slowly moving from west to east during the day. | 0:00:31 | 0:00:34
The other side of that we find brighter conditions | 0:00:34 | 0:00:36
again into Northern Ireland, for example, in the afternoon, | 0:00:36 | 0:00:38
but here the wind will strengthen and this rain will come in | 0:00:38 | 0:00:41
quite heavy as we go through the evening. | 0:00:41 | 0:00:43
Temperatures - high teens, low 20s, | 0:00:43 | 0:00:45
some warmth in the sun, especially across eastern parts of England. | 0:00:45 | 0:00:48
As we go through the evening, | 0:00:48 | 0:00:49
that first area of rain clears away eastwards, | 0:00:49 | 0:00:52
but then some heavier downpours | 0:00:52 | 0:00:54
come across Northern Ireland into western Scotland with brisk winds | 0:00:54 | 0:00:57
and other western areas start to get some of those heavier showers | 0:00:57 | 0:01:00
by the time we get to Friday morning. | 0:01:00 | 0:01:02
So, on Friday then, the closer you are to that area of low pressure, | 0:01:02 | 0:01:06
the more showers you are going to get, the stronger the winds too. | 0:01:06 | 0:01:08
You can see it's just centred to the northwest of Scotland. | 0:01:08 | 0:01:11
Which means some of us will get shower after shower, | 0:01:11 | 0:01:14
they may merge to give some longer spells of rain at times | 0:01:14 | 0:01:17
through western parts of the UK on Friday. | 0:01:17 | 0:01:20
Wherever you are it's going to be blustery. | 0:01:20 | 0:01:22
Fewer showers though in comparison | 0:01:22 | 0:01:24
down towards the southeast and east of England in particular, | 0:01:24 | 0:01:26
although one or two will move through on the breeze. | 0:01:26 | 0:01:29
Some of us will avoid them and stay dry. | 0:01:29 | 0:01:31
Temperatures here into the low 20s, elsewhere though, | 0:01:31 | 0:01:34
if you get plenty of showers, it will feel rather cool, | 0:01:34 | 0:01:36
especially in that wind. | 0:01:36 | 0:01:38
Now, as we go into the weekend, | 0:01:38 | 0:01:40
that area of low pressure just scoots across the north of Scotland. | 0:01:40 | 0:01:44
It will begin to ease away through the weekend, | 0:01:44 | 0:01:46
though still close enough on Saturday to produce | 0:01:46 | 0:01:49
breezy weather for us, a mixture of sunshine and scattered showers. | 0:01:49 | 0:01:52
And it may well be that you end up with a shower on Saturday, | 0:01:52 | 0:01:55
perhaps if you avoided one on Friday. | 0:01:55 | 0:01:57
Again, high teens and low 20s. | 0:01:57 | 0:02:00
As that area of low pressure finally moves away on Sunday, | 0:02:00 | 0:02:04
this area of high pressure begins to nudge in | 0:02:04 | 0:02:07
and we get some drier weather. | 0:02:07 | 0:02:08
Still some weather fronts close to northern Scotland, | 0:02:08 | 0:02:11
so here on Sunday you can still expect some outbreaks of rain, | 0:02:11 | 0:02:14
but elsewhere fewer showers, more in the way of drier weather, | 0:02:14 | 0:02:17
some sunshine, it's going to feel a little bit warmer too. | 0:02:17 | 0:02:20
Now, that area of high pressure | 0:02:20 | 0:02:22
is going to have a bit of an assault at it from this low pressure, | 0:02:22 | 0:02:26
coming across the Atlantic as we go from Sunday into Monday. | 0:02:26 | 0:02:29
It's actually a former hurricane, | 0:02:29 | 0:02:31
but it's missing us well to the north, | 0:02:31 | 0:02:33
but a trailing weather front will try to move into that high pressure, | 0:02:33 | 0:02:36
Sunday night and into Monday, | 0:02:36 | 0:02:38
and certainly towards the northwest of the UK, | 0:02:38 | 0:02:40
that will bring some stronger winds for a time | 0:02:40 | 0:02:43
and some outbreaks of rain. | 0:02:43 | 0:02:44
But it looks as if it will come to a halt | 0:02:44 | 0:02:46
as it tries to penetrate that high pressure, | 0:02:46 | 0:02:48
which looks like it will protect England and Wales on Monday | 0:02:48 | 0:02:51
with largely fine weather, | 0:02:51 | 0:02:52
and then as the high pressure starts to build back | 0:02:52 | 0:02:55
as we go into Tuesday, | 0:02:55 | 0:02:56
that area of rain will lift away northwards | 0:02:56 | 0:02:58
and then we're just about in the clear, | 0:02:58 | 0:03:00
Tuesday onwards next week, with an area of high pressure, | 0:03:00 | 0:03:02
plenty of dry weather, warmer weather too, | 0:03:02 | 0:03:05
with temperatures more widely into the low 20s. | 0:03:05 | 0:03:07
We have that to look forward to. | 0:03:07 | 0:03:09
There's only so much high pressure will give us, though. | 0:03:09 | 0:03:12
Of course, we're getting into September at this stage. | 0:03:12 | 0:03:14
But if you're expecting from this weather pattern | 0:03:14 | 0:03:16
for a time next week some settled weather, | 0:03:16 | 0:03:18
some mainly dry weather and something a little bit warmer, | 0:03:18 | 0:03:21
then that's pretty close, I think, to what will happen. | 0:03:21 | 0:03:24
We'll, of course, keep you updated as we get closer to it. | 0:03:24 | 0:03:27
And you can find your daily forecast, as ever, online. Bye-bye. | 0:03:27 | 0:03:30
