Hello there. As is often the case, we saw quite a variety of weather | 0:00:03 | 0:00:06
across the United Kingdom to start the weekend. | 0:00:06 | 0:00:08
For some of us, it was a rather dull and damp affair. | 0:00:08 | 0:00:11
This is the view from one of our Weather Watchers in Cumbria - | 0:00:11 | 0:00:14
fair bit of cloud and some rain. | 0:00:14 | 0:00:16
But it certainly wasn't like that for all places, | 0:00:16 | 0:00:18
in fact this is the view from one of our Weather Watchers, | 0:00:18 | 0:00:20
Saturday afternoon in Somerset. | 0:00:20 | 0:00:22
Lovely view across the fields, lots of sunshine. | 0:00:22 | 0:00:24
In fact, in the sunshine, further east, around the Wash | 0:00:24 | 0:00:26
and towards the London area, we got up to about 16 Celsius. | 0:00:26 | 0:00:29
And for the second part of the weekend, | 0:00:29 | 0:00:30
we'll go a couple of degrees higher than that. | 0:00:30 | 0:00:32
Again, it looks like it'll be central and eastern parts of the UK | 0:00:32 | 0:00:35
that will see the highest temperatures, 17 or 18 Celsius. | 0:00:35 | 0:00:38
It's going to be a lovely day for many central and eastern parts - | 0:00:38 | 0:00:41
variable cloud, some sunshine, light winds and feeling pleasantly warm. | 0:00:41 | 0:00:44
However, further north and further west, | 0:00:44 | 0:00:46
we've got a lot more cloud, outbreaks of rain. | 0:00:46 | 0:00:48
It's not going to rain all day everywhere, | 0:00:48 | 0:00:50
but the rain in the south and west could turn more persistent | 0:00:50 | 0:00:52
into the afternoon. When you get the cloud and the rain, | 0:00:52 | 0:00:55
it's 10 or 11 Celsius, but for central and eastern areas | 0:00:55 | 0:00:57
it's 17 or 18 Celsius, at the highest. | 0:00:57 | 0:00:59
Some places maybe only 13 or 14, | 0:00:59 | 0:01:00
but still a pleasant feel to the day for many. | 0:01:00 | 0:01:03
However, it does change through the evening | 0:01:03 | 0:01:05
as this rain sweeps its way ever northwards | 0:01:05 | 0:01:07
and there's a bit more coming in from the south as well. | 0:01:07 | 0:01:10
So, Monday, it looks like low pressure is in charge of the weather | 0:01:10 | 0:01:14
and it will be drifting its way ever northwards, | 0:01:14 | 0:01:16
taking the wettest weather and the stronger winds with it. | 0:01:16 | 0:01:19
But Monday itself does look like a fairly changeable sort of day. | 0:01:19 | 0:01:23
It'll be wet and windy to start across much of Scotland, | 0:01:23 | 0:01:25
that will drift its way into the western side of Scotland. | 0:01:25 | 0:01:28
Northern Ireland, wet and windy start, | 0:01:28 | 0:01:29
but we'll see some showers coming in as it brightens up | 0:01:29 | 0:01:32
and there'll be heavy showers across England and Wales. | 0:01:32 | 0:01:34
Top temperature by this stage around about 13 or 14 Celsius. | 0:01:34 | 0:01:37
And then through Monday night, into Tuesday, | 0:01:37 | 0:01:40
low pressure still in charge of the weather across the north of the UK, | 0:01:40 | 0:01:43
that means it'll be the focal point | 0:01:43 | 0:01:45
for some showers during the day on Tuesday. | 0:01:45 | 0:01:47
The strongest winds will be in the north as well. | 0:01:47 | 0:01:49
But overall on Tuesday it's a much drier picture. | 0:01:49 | 0:01:51
Still a few showers for some central and eastern parts of England, | 0:01:51 | 0:01:54
but a lot of dry and bright weather on Tuesday. | 0:01:54 | 0:01:56
15 Celsius will be the top temperature, | 0:01:56 | 0:01:58
many other places around about 10 or 11 Celsius. | 0:01:58 | 0:02:00
But a big change through the middle of the week, | 0:02:00 | 0:02:02
as this weather front drifts its way from west to east. | 0:02:02 | 0:02:04
Behind it, this cool-ish north-westerly breeze | 0:02:04 | 0:02:07
is going to bring a real change in the air mass. | 0:02:07 | 0:02:10
We've got a complete change in the air, to be honest, | 0:02:10 | 0:02:12
from something quite mild to something that bit cooler. | 0:02:12 | 0:02:15
And it looks like that cooler air | 0:02:15 | 0:02:16
will be drifting down from the north through Thursday | 0:02:16 | 0:02:19
and will still be with us on into the end of the week. | 0:02:19 | 0:02:21
So, temperatures will be dipping away from midweek onwards. | 0:02:21 | 0:02:24
And we see that change beginning on Wednesday. | 0:02:24 | 0:02:26
It's actually a decent start | 0:02:26 | 0:02:28
for some central and eastern areas, some sunshine, | 0:02:28 | 0:02:30
but clouding over all the while as rain comes in from the west. | 0:02:30 | 0:02:32
Temperatures 14 Celsius ahead of that weather front, | 0:02:32 | 0:02:35
but only eight or nine behind it. | 0:02:35 | 0:02:36
So that's the change in the feel of things. | 0:02:36 | 0:02:39
Turning things much fresher and cooler. | 0:02:39 | 0:02:40
And we've got the air coming down from the north | 0:02:40 | 0:02:43
through the day on Thursday. | 0:02:43 | 0:02:44
Quite a noticeable wind across all parts of the UK. | 0:02:44 | 0:02:47
Looks like it'll be a day of sunny spells | 0:02:47 | 0:02:48
and some quite blustery showers. | 0:02:48 | 0:02:50
Might see 12 Celsius in the southeast, | 0:02:50 | 0:02:51
but many places struggling to get into double figures. | 0:02:51 | 0:02:54
And then it settles down to some degree for the end of the week. | 0:02:54 | 0:02:57
We get this brief ridge of high pressure, | 0:02:57 | 0:03:00
and it will be quite brief. | 0:03:00 | 0:03:01
It's going to be shunted out of the way pretty quickly, | 0:03:01 | 0:03:04
so it's all change into the weekend, with the low pressure taking over. | 0:03:04 | 0:03:07
And this area of low pressure looks like it'll park itself | 0:03:07 | 0:03:10
toward the south, the southwest of the UK, through next weekend, | 0:03:10 | 0:03:13
and it'll last on into the following week. | 0:03:13 | 0:03:15
So even on into the following week it does look pretty unsettled. | 0:03:15 | 0:03:19
There'll be some rain at times, but also going some drier spells, | 0:03:19 | 0:03:22
and when you get the drier spells overnight, clear skies, | 0:03:22 | 0:03:25
it will turn quite chilly, | 0:03:25 | 0:03:27
maybe even a touch of frost in the outlook. | 0:03:27 | 0:03:29
Bye for now. | 0:03:29 | 0:03:30 |
