Hello. High pressure has dominated our weather for quite some time.

0:00:030:00:06

That's kept it dry virtually everywhere,

0:00:060:00:08

but we've also seen variable amounts of cloud.

0:00:080:00:10

And a bit of sunshine at this time of year makes all the difference.

0:00:100:00:14

This is the view yesterday in Polzeath, Cornwall.

0:00:140:00:16

Fast forward to today and a very different feel to the day underneath

0:00:160:00:20

pretty cloudy skies. A lot of cloud, yes, but it was essentially dry.

0:00:200:00:24

Later this week, we're going to swap high pressure for

0:00:240:00:27

low pressure as the jet stream dives to the south of the UK

0:00:270:00:29

and that low is going to keep things pretty unsettled as we get on

0:00:290:00:33

into the Easter weekend.

0:00:330:00:34

Through the middle of the week, a lot of cloud to start the day.

0:00:340:00:37

The best of any breaks will be to the eastern side of England,

0:00:370:00:39

maybe along the south coast as well.

0:00:390:00:41

The odd spit and spot of rain possible across some

0:00:410:00:43

parts of England and Wales but most places should be dry.

0:00:430:00:46

Not quite so in the north and west, this band of rain,

0:00:460:00:48

not overly heavy rain, but some rain nonetheless,

0:00:480:00:50

working through Northern Ireland into western Scotland.

0:00:500:00:53

Something brighter and some showers following.

0:00:530:00:55

Northern England, fairly cloudy through the afternoon,

0:00:550:00:57

maybe some breaks east of the Pennines.

0:00:570:00:59

The odd spot of rain possible across the north-west

0:00:590:01:01

of England, western Wales and down towards the south-west,

0:01:010:01:04

but many places will actually be fine and dry and it should be a

0:01:040:01:07

pretty much dry afternoon for East Anglia and the south-east.

0:01:070:01:09

Maybe a few breaks in the cloud, 12 or 13 degrees,

0:01:090:01:11

with some sunshine and light winds it shouldn't feel so bad.

0:01:110:01:14

Through evening, there will be that rain crossing Scotland,

0:01:140:01:17

patchy rain for northern England and a little

0:01:170:01:19

rain for the south-east, but it won't amount to very much.

0:01:190:01:21

Something much more substantial into the north and west by dawn

0:01:210:01:24

on Thursday. By which stage, major towns

0:01:240:01:26

and cities will see temperatures around five or six degrees.

0:01:260:01:29

Thursday itself, that's the start of a change to something much more

0:01:290:01:32

unsettled as low pressure begins to take over across the United Kingdom.

0:01:320:01:36

So turning increasingly wet

0:01:360:01:38

and increasingly windy across the north and west of the UK.

0:01:380:01:41

That rain make steady progress towards the south and the east

0:01:410:01:43

through the afternoon. And into the evening, that rain will begin

0:01:430:01:46

to arrive here. Underneath the rain,

0:01:460:01:49

single figures, eight or nine degrees. And in the wind and rain

0:01:490:01:52

not a great feel to the day.

0:01:520:01:54

Now, to get on into Good Friday, that rain may well drag its

0:01:540:01:57

heels for a while across the south-east

0:01:570:01:59

but there is this temporary ridge building, which is going to bring

0:01:590:02:02

some pretty decent weather to the north and west.

0:02:020:02:04

But through the Easter weekend itself,

0:02:040:02:06

we're going to see quite a mixed bag of weather.

0:02:060:02:08

It's going to be windy at times, some rain, some showers, but

0:02:080:02:10

there's also going to be something little bit drier and brighter.

0:02:100:02:13

Some of us should see some sunshine

0:02:130:02:15

and Good Friday, actually, seems like a pretty decent day for some

0:02:150:02:18

sunshine once we clear away that rain from the south-east.

0:02:180:02:20

By around the middle of the day that should clear and many

0:02:200:02:22

places will be dry and bright. Sunny spells and fairly light winds.

0:02:220:02:25

But the winds will be picking up all the while in the north and west

0:02:250:02:28

through Good Friday evening as this next weather front approaches.

0:02:280:02:31

That's going to bring yet another spell of wind and rain

0:02:310:02:34

in from the Atlantic,

0:02:340:02:35

so maybe not a great Saturday across Northern Ireland,

0:02:350:02:38

western Scotland, the western side of England and Wales, that rain

0:02:380:02:42

eventually moves its way ever eastwards. So we will see some rain

0:02:420:02:45

cropping up later in the day across East Anglia and the south-east.

0:02:450:02:48

Low pressure still in charge of our weather,

0:02:480:02:50

driving those weather fronts from west to east for Easter Day itself.

0:02:500:02:53

There should be some something of a window of drier

0:02:530:02:55

and brighter weather in between weather fronts

0:02:550:02:58

but some showers are going to get going during the day

0:02:580:03:00

and those could spread to many areas.

0:03:000:03:02

But there will seem be some drier and brighter interludes

0:03:020:03:04

in between those showers

0:03:040:03:06

and with a bit of sunshine we'll get 11 or 12 degrees out of the day.

0:03:060:03:09

Now, on to Easter Monday and beyond -

0:03:090:03:11

low pressure still in charge of our weather, could be

0:03:110:03:14

quick stormy for some places, I suspect,

0:03:140:03:17

on Easter Monday, with some gales or even severe gales around some

0:03:170:03:20

coasts and hills in the south and west.

0:03:200:03:21

And on through next week, it does remain rather unsettled.

0:03:210:03:24

There will be some rain at times,

0:03:240:03:26

the winds will be quite strong, and by night still on the chilly side.

0:03:260:03:29

Bye for now.
