Hello, thank you for tuning into the weather for the week ahead.

0:00:020:00:05

For the start of the working week, at least for most of us,

0:00:050:00:08

it does look as though the weather is going to go downhill.

0:00:080:00:10

In fact, eastern and south-eastern areas are in for some rain

0:00:100:00:13

and the rain's coming out of the Continent here.

0:00:130:00:16

In fact, this weather system has been plaguing

0:00:160:00:18

parts of Europe in the last few days with some severe thunder storms.

0:00:180:00:22

We are going to be brushed by this weather front.

0:00:220:00:24

But some of the rain could be heavy

0:00:240:00:26

and there could be some thunder and lightning with it as well.

0:00:260:00:29

So let's see how things are panning out from Tuesday morning.

0:00:290:00:32

The rush hour - initially the rain could be

0:00:320:00:34

heavy across the south-east into East Anglia and also Lincolnshire.

0:00:340:00:37

The west, a very different story. Here, in fact, it's the opposite.

0:00:370:00:41

We're waking up to some sunshine, fine conditions

0:00:410:00:43

and that's how it's going to stay for most of the day.

0:00:430:00:46

So from Cornwall through Wales into Northern Ireland and Scotland,

0:00:460:00:49

a beautiful day with some sunshine and balmy.

0:00:490:00:51

Look at that, 20 in Belfast, 21 in Glasgow.

0:00:510:00:54

But colder, with some northerly winds there

0:00:540:00:57

particularly around these North Sea coasts.

0:00:570:01:00

And all of this cloudy

0:01:000:01:01

and at times wet weather will be shifting in a westerly

0:01:010:01:05

direction through the course of Tuesday night into Wednesday.

0:01:050:01:09

So Wednesday itself looks generally unsettled across the UK.

0:01:090:01:12

Particularly across England and Wales. Now here's the weather front.

0:01:120:01:16

You can see it draped across northern parts of the country,

0:01:160:01:18

down into Wales as well.

0:01:180:01:20

So these areas will be getting some heavy rainfall.

0:01:200:01:22

In fact, on Wednesday, it's more northern parts of the country

0:01:220:01:25

that could get the really heavy rain.

0:01:250:01:27

The details of exactly where this heavy rain is going to go

0:01:270:01:30

are uncertain, but I think the best message for you,

0:01:300:01:33

middle part of the week is across England and Wales, expect some rain.

0:01:330:01:36

But for Scotland and Northern Ireland, I think

0:01:360:01:38

here we're going to get away with it.

0:01:380:01:40

In fact, in Glasgow, temperatures of around 19 degrees Celsius.

0:01:400:01:43

Beautiful weather there in the Western Isles for the middle

0:01:430:01:45

part of the week.

0:01:450:01:47

Towards Thursday, things are going to change.

0:01:470:01:49

This area of high pressure around Iceland is going to send

0:01:490:01:52

winds from the north or the north-east

0:01:520:01:54

and they are going to be pushing these weather fronts away.

0:01:540:01:57

Imagine the weather fronts here being pushed by these winds.

0:01:570:02:00

The weather fronts will fizzle away.

0:02:000:02:02

That means less rain, but still the remnants of it in the form

0:02:020:02:06

of cloud across the south of the country.

0:02:060:02:08

So I think the best of the weather on Thursday will be across Scotland

0:02:080:02:11

and Northern Ireland,

0:02:110:02:13

and that pattern is going to continue into Friday as well.

0:02:130:02:15

It's a big area of high pressure here.

0:02:150:02:17

It's squeezing out these weather fronts, pushing them

0:02:170:02:19

out of the way and things are settling down into Friday.

0:02:190:02:23

But northerly winds, that's a cool source,

0:02:230:02:25

so temperatures will take a bit of a tumble across some

0:02:250:02:28

parts of the country, 12 for example in Newcastle.

0:02:280:02:30

I don't think it will be higher

0:02:300:02:32

than about 17 degrees across the south of the country.

0:02:320:02:36

Then Friday and into the weekend,

0:02:360:02:37

the high pressure still dominates this portion of Europe.

0:02:370:02:40

One area that we are watching is this low here.

0:02:400:02:42

We'll talk about that in a second,

0:02:420:02:44

but I think the basic message for the weekend is -

0:02:440:02:47

cooler northerly to north-easterly winds with a bit of sunshine,

0:02:470:02:50

it will warm up to close to 20.

0:02:500:02:52

But those North Sea coasts will remain on the chilly side.

0:02:520:02:56

And similar weather, I think, for most of us on Sunday as well.

0:02:560:02:59

Early next week, this high pressure that's been stuck here for quite

0:02:590:03:02

some time, will eventually fizzle away, or fade away, that is

0:03:020:03:05

and that low that I showed you on the weather map, is going

0:03:050:03:08

to edge closer to the UK, bringing slightly more unsettled weather.

0:03:080:03:13

So I think the summary for next week is that it is going to

0:03:130:03:17

stay dry, but then as that low pressure nears us,

0:03:170:03:20

things are going to gradually turn a little bit more unsettled,

0:03:200:03:23

a bit more cloud and a greater chance of catching some rainfall.

0:03:230:03:28

So the next few days, a little bit up and down.
