Hello. We'll get onto the weather here in the UK, but first of all, | 0:00:02 | 0:00:06
we're going to start off on the other side of the Atlantic. | 0:00:06 | 0:00:09
We have tropical storm Hermine. | 0:00:09 | 0:00:11
It's in the Gulf of Mexico, | 0:00:11 | 0:00:12
but it's making steady progress towards the north-west of Florida, | 0:00:12 | 0:00:16
it may achieve hurricane status before it makes landfall. | 0:00:16 | 0:00:19
If it does so, it'll be the first hurricane to hit Florida | 0:00:19 | 0:00:21
in 11 years. | 0:00:21 | 0:00:23
Either way, we're going to see a storm surge around the coast | 0:00:23 | 0:00:26
and there's going to be some flooding rain and some very | 0:00:26 | 0:00:28
strong winds moving their way across the heavily populated | 0:00:28 | 0:00:30
south-eastern corner of the United States. | 0:00:30 | 0:00:33
That is one to watch over the next few days. | 0:00:33 | 0:00:36
Much quieter back on our shores to end the week. | 0:00:36 | 0:00:39
We've got this weather front slipping its way slowly southwards | 0:00:39 | 0:00:42
and eastwards, bringing a lot of cloud, | 0:00:42 | 0:00:44
not a great deal of rain, but there will be some to go with that. | 0:00:44 | 0:00:47
Maybe some low cloud around | 0:00:47 | 0:00:48
the coasts and the hills in the south-west. | 0:00:48 | 0:00:50
Bit of rain drifts its way to East Anglia and the south-east, | 0:00:50 | 0:00:53
but through the afternoon, that rain becomes very light and patchy | 0:00:53 | 0:00:56
and it starts to brighten up in Wales. | 0:00:56 | 0:00:57
Much of northern England doing well in the afternoon. | 0:00:57 | 0:01:00
Sunny spells and showers in Northern Ireland and Scotland, | 0:01:00 | 0:01:02
those showers coming in on the breeze from the west. | 0:01:02 | 0:01:05
19 degrees in Aberdeen, not so bad. | 0:01:05 | 0:01:06
Might get 20 or 21 in the London area. | 0:01:06 | 0:01:09
Through Friday evening, it's dry for most places. | 0:01:09 | 0:01:12
There'll still be a few showers dotted around in the north | 0:01:12 | 0:01:15
and west of the UK, but towards the end of the night, we look | 0:01:15 | 0:01:17
towards the south-west for the next batch of rain to spread our way. | 0:01:17 | 0:01:21
Saturday looks like the wettest of the two days of the weekend. | 0:01:21 | 0:01:24
Sunday looks like a vast improvement. | 0:01:24 | 0:01:26
Saturday's rain - question marks about the northern extent of it. | 0:01:26 | 0:01:30
But, it looks like it will be coming into the | 0:01:30 | 0:01:32
south-west on a bit of a breeze quite early on Saturday morning. | 0:01:32 | 0:01:35
Then it makes pretty steady progress across much of the rest of | 0:01:35 | 0:01:38
England and Wales through the afternoon and on into the evening. | 0:01:38 | 0:01:41
Some of that rain could be quite heavy and the breeze will be | 0:01:41 | 0:01:43
quite noticeable towards the south-west, in particular. | 0:01:43 | 0:01:45
Further north, sunny spells and a scattering of showers, although | 0:01:45 | 0:01:47
there might be some wetter weather at times in Northern Ireland. | 0:01:47 | 0:01:51
But that wet weather moves ever eastwards Saturday night, | 0:01:51 | 0:01:53
so that by Sunday, actually, | 0:01:53 | 0:01:55
many places are enjoying a vastly improved day with sunny spells, | 0:01:55 | 0:01:58
one or two showers dotted around, | 0:01:58 | 0:01:59
but a lot of dry and bright weather to be had. | 0:01:59 | 0:02:01
18 degrees in Glasgow and Belfast. | 0:02:01 | 0:02:03
Highs of 21 and 22 in the south-eastern corner. | 0:02:03 | 0:02:07
Then in the early part of the new week, | 0:02:07 | 0:02:09
we've got this big low to the north-west of us. | 0:02:09 | 0:02:11
Its weather fronts will be pushing their way into the north | 0:02:11 | 0:02:14
and west of the UK with a bit of a breeze. | 0:02:14 | 0:02:16
A noticeable breeze for Scotland and Northern Ireland, in particular, | 0:02:16 | 0:02:19
with some cloud and outbreaks of rain. | 0:02:19 | 0:02:21
But most of England and Wales have a reasonable day | 0:02:21 | 0:02:23
with the brightest conditions the further east you are. | 0:02:23 | 0:02:25
Quite warm as well - 18 degrees in Glasgow, 22 or 23 in London. | 0:02:25 | 0:02:28
Now, through Tuesday, | 0:02:28 | 0:02:30
the big picture sees an area of low pressure to the west of us, | 0:02:30 | 0:02:33
high pressure to the east, and, yes, we've still got the resultant | 0:02:33 | 0:02:37
southerly wind blowing up across the UK. | 0:02:37 | 0:02:39
So that's good news because it's going to keep those temperatures | 0:02:39 | 0:02:42
quite respectable as we get on into the middle part of next week. | 0:02:42 | 0:02:45
We don't see a huge change in the pressure pattern, | 0:02:45 | 0:02:48
we've still got that high to the east of the UK | 0:02:48 | 0:02:51
and this low towards the north and west. | 0:02:51 | 0:02:53
You can just see those orange tones spreading their way ever | 0:02:53 | 0:02:55
northwards across the north of Scotland. | 0:02:55 | 0:02:57
So we'll all be seeing some pretty reasonable temperatures. | 0:02:57 | 0:03:00
But later on next week, | 0:03:00 | 0:03:01
both of our weather systems drift a little bit further northwards. | 0:03:01 | 0:03:04
The closer you are to that low in the north-west, | 0:03:04 | 0:03:06
you might see a bit of rain. | 0:03:06 | 0:03:07
But the majority will just see some fine and settled weather, the high | 0:03:07 | 0:03:10
really dominating, and it's still dragging in that southerly breeze. | 0:03:10 | 0:03:13
So with the high dominating, | 0:03:13 | 0:03:15
a lot of settled weather into the latter part of next week, | 0:03:15 | 0:03:18
and quite warm as well with that southerly breeze and very | 0:03:18 | 0:03:20
little rain to speak of, | 0:03:20 | 0:03:22
unless you're in the far north-west close to that low, | 0:03:22 | 0:03:25
but most of us are looking at a lot of dry and quite warm weather. | 0:03:25 | 0:03:28
I told you, I don't need any help. And I told you, you've got it. | 0:03:33 | 0:03:36
Leopard changed its spots, has it? | 0:03:36 | 0:03:38
Come on, then! | 0:03:38 | 0:03:39
Grant, what you doing?! | 0:03:39 | 0:03:40
Phil! | 0:03:40 | 0:03:41 | |
Bring my boy back. | 0:03:41 | 0:03:43
Please. | 0:03:43 | 0:03:44 |
