Hello there. September started off on a relatively warm and dry note,

0:00:020:00:05

but things are starting to feel a bit more autumnal out there.

0:00:050:00:09

Looking unsettled over the next couple of days,

0:00:090:00:11

before some of us see a return to summery warmth through next week.

0:00:110:00:15

On Saturday, a weather front is affecting

0:00:150:00:17

central and southeastern parts of England.

0:00:170:00:20

Cloudy here, on and off outbreaks of drizzly rain, anywhere from around

0:00:200:00:24

Dorset up towards Lincolnshire and to the southeast of that.

0:00:240:00:26

Quite breezy here too, and mild underneath the cloud and rain,

0:00:260:00:29

20 degrees or so.

0:00:290:00:31

Elsewhere, across the country, lots of dry weather, lighter winds,

0:00:310:00:34

temperatures around 18 degrees, just a few showers in the northwest.

0:00:340:00:38

Not a bad day, on reflection, across many parts of the country,

0:00:380:00:41

but we'll keep the cloud and rain in the southeast

0:00:410:00:43

right on into the evening hours.

0:00:430:00:45

Most places looking dry overnight,

0:00:450:00:47

away from the far northwest with some blustery showers.

0:00:470:00:50

Under those clear skies,

0:00:500:00:51

it will be a much fresher night than we've seen recently.

0:00:510:00:54

In rural areas, temperatures down to single figures.

0:00:540:00:57

So quite a fresh start to the day on Sunday,

0:00:570:01:00

mist patches on the cards first thing too.

0:01:000:01:02

They should clear away,

0:01:020:01:03

and we're more confident about Sunday's forecast now.

0:01:030:01:06

If you're watching over the past few days,

0:01:060:01:08

there was some uncertainty about a developing area of low pressure.

0:01:080:01:10

It looks like it will arrive towards the northwest later in the day,

0:01:100:01:13

bringing some wet and windy weather

0:01:130:01:15

for Northern Ireland, Western Scotland.

0:01:150:01:17

Elsewhere, high pressure holds on with some warm sunshine around.

0:01:170:01:21

Moving through Sunday night, this area of low pressure and its

0:01:210:01:24

windy conditions will move in across northern parts of the country.

0:01:240:01:29

That means some wet and windy weather in the northwest.

0:01:290:01:32

But elsewhere, we're going to see air coming in from

0:01:320:01:35

a southerly direction, that means we're importing our air from

0:01:350:01:38

North Africa, southern France too, up towards the UK.

0:01:380:01:41

That means temperatures on the rise,

0:01:410:01:43

for many of us, not everywhere, into the early part of next week.

0:01:430:01:47

Particularly across England and Wales,

0:01:470:01:49

we've got that southerly airflow.

0:01:490:01:50

Lots of warm and dry weather here, temperatures in the mid-20s.

0:01:500:01:53

Further northwest, reasonably mild still, but there will be some

0:01:530:01:56

rain for Northern Ireland and the west of Scotland.

0:01:560:01:59

Onto Tuesday, we're set to see ripples running up this front

0:01:590:02:03

and this area of low pressure will become a bit more of a player

0:02:030:02:05

for some northern and western areas during the day on Tuesday.

0:02:050:02:09

Again, mixed fortunes,

0:02:090:02:10

northern and western areas will see some blustery showers.

0:02:100:02:12

But central and eastern parts of the UK,

0:02:120:02:15

certainly warm weather spreading in from the south.

0:02:150:02:18

We could see 29, possibly 30 degrees during the day on Tuesday.

0:02:180:02:22

We keep that warmth as we head through into Wednesday.

0:02:220:02:24

Low pressure does remain pretty close to our shores.

0:02:240:02:27

Again, the threat of unsettled weather with wind and rain at

0:02:270:02:30

times in the far north and far west.

0:02:300:02:33

Also the chance of some thundery showers moving in from the south.

0:02:330:02:36

So a bit of a breakdown in conditions,

0:02:360:02:38

still summery warmth around for many of us though, on Wednesday,

0:02:380:02:41

and temperatures up there in the mid-20s.

0:02:410:02:43

Let's take a look further ahead now into the latter part of next week.

0:02:430:02:47

It does look like we'll remain under the influence of this area of

0:02:470:02:50

low pressure, trying to move in from the west.

0:02:500:02:53

It does bump into higher pressure across the near continent,

0:02:530:02:56

but what we're set to see later next week is an oscillation in

0:02:560:02:59

the jet stream, delivering areas of low pressure at times across the UK.

0:02:590:03:03

Most likely to affect northern and western areas,

0:03:030:03:07

whereas they will be interspersed with drier spells of weather,

0:03:070:03:10

high-pressure moving in,

0:03:100:03:11

particularly taking hold across the south and southeast.

0:03:110:03:14

So it's bit of a mixed outlook for you.

0:03:140:03:16

Things looking pretty warm for a time,

0:03:160:03:18

but it'll turn more unsettled with the

0:03:180:03:20

driest weather for southern and eastern areas.

0:03:200:03:22

More in the way of showers and breezy conditions

0:03:220:03:24

towards the north and west.

0:03:240:03:26

But we'll keep you up-to-date right here. Bye-bye.
