Let's see what the weather is up to over the next few days. | 0:00:02 | 0:00:05
We've been promising fine weather this weekend and, indeed, that | 0:00:05 | 0:00:08
is the case. Lots of sunshine on the way. | 0:00:08 | 0:00:11
It will be a little chilly in the morning | 0:00:11 | 0:00:14
so there are clear skies developing now. | 0:00:14 | 0:00:16
Temperatures will be dipping like a stone overnight. | 0:00:16 | 0:00:19
Once the skies turn clear everywhere. | 0:00:19 | 0:00:22
We are still saying goodbye to the last of the cloudier weather we | 0:00:22 | 0:00:26
have seen across the UK. | 0:00:26 | 0:00:27
By the early hours of Saturday morning, | 0:00:27 | 0:00:30
right across the country, lots of clear weather around. | 0:00:30 | 0:00:33
Mist and fog will be forming, for example, around the | 0:00:33 | 0:00:36
Vale of York where the winds are light in the middle of that high. | 0:00:36 | 0:00:39
Temperatures, from about the north Midlands northwards, | 0:00:39 | 0:00:43
out of town will be below freezing. | 0:00:43 | 0:00:46
To the south of that, just above freezing. | 0:00:46 | 0:00:48
A nippy morning first thing but it will dawn on a sunny note. | 0:00:48 | 0:00:53
Here it is, skipping to lunchtime. | 0:00:53 | 0:00:55
Temperatures in some spots could get up to around 16, 17 degrees. | 0:00:55 | 0:00:59
But these eastern coasts, with the breeze coming out of the east, | 0:00:59 | 0:01:04
north-east, it will be chilly from Norwich to the coast of Kent. | 0:01:04 | 0:01:08
Could be only around nine or 10 degrees on the coast. | 0:01:08 | 0:01:12
I want to just remind you that Saturday night into Sunday, | 0:01:12 | 0:01:16
the clocks go forward. 1am becomes to 2am, just like that. | 0:01:16 | 0:01:22
Sunday itself, again high pressure is dominant across the UK. | 0:01:22 | 0:01:28
Very little changes. You'll notice there are some lows here. | 0:01:28 | 0:01:31
We'll talk about those in a second. | 0:01:31 | 0:01:34
The high pressure still very much in charge of the scene on Sunday. | 0:01:34 | 0:01:38
The winds will turn lighter, even across the south and south-east. | 0:01:38 | 0:01:43
So everywhere a very decent day. | 0:01:43 | 0:01:45
For most of us it will be around 13 or 14 degrees but I wouldn't | 0:01:45 | 0:01:49
be surprised if it was up to 15 or 16 in some spots. | 0:01:49 | 0:01:53
Let's skip to Monday because that is when we start to see changes. | 0:01:53 | 0:01:57
The high pressure still in charge of the weather but look at this big | 0:01:57 | 0:02:00
low across the Atlantic, it really is a large beast. | 0:02:00 | 0:02:04
Rain and cloud associated with it but at this stage on Monday, | 0:02:04 | 0:02:08
it is still way out in the Atlantic. | 0:02:08 | 0:02:10
It is not really influencing our weather too much. | 0:02:10 | 0:02:13
In fact, that low pressure could be our friend to an extent | 0:02:13 | 0:02:18
because by the time we get to Tuesday, | 0:02:18 | 0:02:20
it approaches the British Isles, still dry across most of the UK, | 0:02:20 | 0:02:24
but I want to point out what it does with the wind. | 0:02:24 | 0:02:27
With the wind spiralling around like this in an area of low pressure, | 0:02:27 | 0:02:31
what it is doing is scooping up all of the warmth that is to the south | 0:02:31 | 0:02:36
of us, so across France and maybe Spain, and moving in our direction. | 0:02:36 | 0:02:40
So while western areas by Wednesday turn cloudy with spots of rain, | 0:02:40 | 0:02:45
the winner in this scenario will probably be eastern parts of | 0:02:45 | 0:02:48
the country because here we will get that air wafting up from the south. | 0:02:48 | 0:02:52
Remember, the low pressure scooping up the warmth and sending it to | 0:02:52 | 0:02:55
the UK so temperatures possibly in the high teens. | 0:02:55 | 0:02:58
Beyond that, perhaps not quite so optimistic. | 0:02:58 | 0:03:01
That low currently is expected to roll over the UK. | 0:03:01 | 0:03:05
Even eastern areas will end up getting | 0:03:05 | 0:03:08
a little bit more cloud and rain. | 0:03:08 | 0:03:09
The thinking is that by next weekend, that low should be | 0:03:09 | 0:03:13
just about out of the way and the high pressure will return. | 0:03:13 | 0:03:17
Let's summarise all of this. | 0:03:17 | 0:03:18
Sunny this weekend, | 0:03:18 | 0:03:20
eventually unsettled but with the caveat it could be warm next week, | 0:03:20 | 0:03:23
at least in the east. Next weekend should be drier once again. Bye-bye. | 0:03:23 | 0:03:28 |
