Hello. We started the week on a dry note with a good deal of sunshine

0:00:020:00:05

but we ended the week with a good deal of cloud and some

0:00:050:00:08

outbreaks of rain. But it is very welcome rain,

0:00:080:00:11

particularly for the gardeners and the growers.

0:00:110:00:14

Here's the satellite and radar sequence from Friday.

0:00:140:00:17

A lot of cloud swirling around an area of low pressure

0:00:170:00:19

and a little bit of sunshine to be had.

0:00:190:00:21

It's drifting its way northwards and so there's

0:00:210:00:24

going to be some rain to be had across Scotland,

0:00:240:00:26

northwest of England, parts of Ireland

0:00:260:00:28

into Saturday afternoon,

0:00:280:00:29

but reasonable weather the further south and east you go.

0:00:290:00:32

The eastern side of Scotland will be quite grey

0:00:320:00:34

but largely dry. Western and southern parts will see

0:00:340:00:37

some cloud and outbreaks of rain.

0:00:370:00:39

There will be a bit of rain at times

0:00:390:00:41

in Northern Ireland. But across the bulk

0:00:410:00:42

of England and Wales, a scattering of showers

0:00:420:00:44

but a lot of dry and quite bright weather.

0:00:440:00:46

Showers are few and far between across

0:00:460:00:48

the southeast and here it'll be bright and breezy,

0:00:480:00:50

some sunshine, 19 or 20 degrees certainly possible.

0:00:500:00:53

The winds will be picking up towards the south

0:00:530:00:55

and west into the afternoon as this weather front arrives.

0:00:550:00:58

That'll be bringing some rain which will spread

0:00:580:01:00

its way from west to east across all parts

0:01:000:01:02

Saturday night into Sunday.

0:01:020:01:03

Shouldn't last too long in any given location

0:01:030:01:06

but it is going to bring some welcome rain with it.

0:01:060:01:08

And there's some fresher air coming in behind that

0:01:080:01:11

and we start Sunday with temperatures around

0:01:110:01:13

10 or 11 degrees.

0:01:130:01:14

Now, you might start off a bit wet for some early risers

0:01:140:01:17

along the east coast of Scotland and eastern England but it

0:01:170:01:20

shouldn't take too long for that rain to clear out

0:01:200:01:23

into the North Sea, and then we've got this

0:01:230:01:25

temporary ridge of higher pressure and with that

0:01:250:01:28

we're starting on a decent note for many places

0:01:280:01:30

with sunshine. With the breeze coming in from

0:01:300:01:32

the southwest we will see the cloud building

0:01:320:01:34

and there'll be a scattering of showers developing

0:01:340:01:36

into the afternoon and some showers in the northwest.

0:01:360:01:38

I think there'll be some lengthy dry spells in-between any

0:01:380:01:41

showers away from the northwest.

0:01:410:01:43

Temperatures round about 15 or 16 degrees,

0:01:430:01:45

probably peak at about 19 or 20

0:01:450:01:47

in the southeast once again.

0:01:470:01:50

Then we look out towards the west for this area

0:01:500:01:52

of low pressure to head our way for the start of the week.

0:01:520:01:54

Those isobars are tightening up,

0:01:540:01:56

so it's going to be quite windy on Monday

0:01:560:01:59

and there's going to be a fair bit of rain.

0:01:590:02:01

But it will be welcome rain for the gardeners and growers.

0:02:010:02:04

Any rain in the southeast should soon clear away and then

0:02:040:02:07

it'll stay pretty cloudy but quite warm.

0:02:070:02:10

Further north and west you've got the wind and rain

0:02:100:02:12

so that'll temper those temperatures but that rain

0:02:120:02:14

should clear away from Northern Ireland.

0:02:140:02:16

As we get into Tuesday, a trailing weather front to be

0:02:160:02:20

draped somewhere across the south of the UK.

0:02:200:02:22

The position is a bit uncertain at this stage.

0:02:220:02:24

At the moment it looks like it will be through the Midlands,

0:02:240:02:27

parts of Wales and the southwest and maybe for a time

0:02:270:02:29

in the southeast. But if it clears away and we get that

0:02:290:02:31

southerly breeze it could get quite warm in that

0:02:310:02:34

south-eastern corner.

0:02:340:02:35

Further north and west it's bright and breezy with maybe

0:02:350:02:37

a few showers coming in on the breeze.

0:02:370:02:39

As we head towards Wednesday,

0:02:390:02:41

we've got low pressure to the north

0:02:410:02:42

of the UK and high pressure to the west.

0:02:420:02:44

This trailing weather front is going to bring some cloud

0:02:440:02:46

and rain to the southern half of the UK.

0:02:460:02:49

Probably that rain easing away as we get on into

0:02:490:02:51

the afternoon but still some showers

0:02:510:02:53

towards the far north and west.

0:02:530:02:56

Looking ahead towards the latter part of next week,

0:02:560:02:58

looks like that low to the north of us will drift away towards

0:02:580:03:01

Scandinavia, allowing that high to the west of us to come in,

0:03:010:03:04

getting closer and closer to the UK.

0:03:040:03:06

But the resulting winds are northerly and that's going to

0:03:060:03:09

bring some much cooler air with it and the closer you are to the

0:03:090:03:11

low pressure system up and down that eastern coast,

0:03:110:03:14

you are more likely to see some rain.

0:03:140:03:16

And that setup looks like it'll last into the following weekend,

0:03:160:03:19

so we are developing this east-west split.

0:03:190:03:21

It'll be cooler and there will be some rain around,

0:03:210:03:23

most of that will be in the eastern side but closer to the high and west

0:03:230:03:26

it should be that bit drier.
