Hello, thanks for tuning into our holiday weather. | 0:00:04 | 0:00:06
If you're travelling over the next day or so abroad, perhaps | 0:00:06 | 0:00:09
across Europe, this is the place to find out what the weather trends are. | 0:00:09 | 0:00:13
We're going to start with Europe for Friday | 0:00:13 | 0:00:15
and the South of Europe, | 0:00:15 | 0:00:17
the Mediterranean, is still looking very warm. | 0:00:17 | 0:00:19
Temperatures still very much like summer. | 0:00:19 | 0:00:21
30 degrees there in Crete, around about 30 or so in Athens. | 0:00:21 | 0:00:25
But you'll notice it's not completely dry. | 0:00:25 | 0:00:27
We are anticipating some rain showers across Greece and the Balkans too. | 0:00:27 | 0:00:31
Rome is pretty hot at 29 degrees. | 0:00:31 | 0:00:33
But if you are off to Madrid, Seville, | 0:00:33 | 0:00:35
down towards the South coast of Spain, it is still very hot. | 0:00:35 | 0:00:39
In many areas temperatures well in excess of 30 degrees Celsius. | 0:00:39 | 0:00:43
Now for some other places as we head into Sunday. | 0:00:43 | 0:00:45
For example in Toulouse temperatures up to around 30 degrees | 0:00:45 | 0:00:48
and plenty of sunshine. Naples is still looking warm too. | 0:00:48 | 0:00:51
But if you are going to France, not quite so warm. | 0:00:51 | 0:00:54
Of course we are entering the cooler season now, but still fairly | 0:00:54 | 0:00:56
pleasant - to the South of Bordeaux, up to around 26 degrees. | 0:00:56 | 0:01:00
But Paris is not all that different to what we are getting in the UK, | 0:01:00 | 0:01:04
around about the low 20s at best. | 0:01:04 | 0:01:06
Brussels also fairly fresh, | 0:01:06 | 0:01:08
20 Celsius with a chance of some showers. | 0:01:08 | 0:01:11
Some other places - Amsterdam not too dissimilar from Brussels, | 0:01:11 | 0:01:14
of course not a million miles away, with some sunny spells | 0:01:14 | 0:01:17
and temperatures hovering around about that 20 degree mark. | 0:01:17 | 0:01:20
Perhaps you are travelling across the pond towards the United States | 0:01:20 | 0:01:23
and there is some storminess on the way across the Great Lakes | 0:01:23 | 0:01:26
through the Mississippi Valley, generally the Midwest here, | 0:01:26 | 0:01:29
all the way across the Great Plains, some thunderstorms here. | 0:01:29 | 0:01:32
And very warm in New York recently - | 0:01:32 | 0:01:33
it has been quite hot with temperatures around 30 degrees | 0:01:33 | 0:01:36
and more of that to come through the course of Saturday and the weekend. | 0:01:36 | 0:01:40
But it will eventually freshen up by the time we get to the end of Sunday. | 0:01:40 | 0:01:44
In the Big Apple temperatures will drop down | 0:01:44 | 0:01:46
to around 24 degrees Celsius. | 0:01:46 | 0:01:48
Meanwhile, the other side of the US, for Los Angeles it's very hot. | 0:01:48 | 0:01:51
Baking hot in fact. Temperatures in the mid-30s. | 0:01:51 | 0:01:55
Seattle there a little bit fresher at around 25. | 0:01:55 | 0:01:58
If you are really going to the other side of the planet, Australia, | 0:01:58 | 0:02:01
of course it is a different season here, a lot fresher. | 0:02:01 | 0:02:04
In Sydney we are seeing some showers, | 0:02:04 | 0:02:06
but in the North and the tropics, and Darwin it is hot. It always is | 0:02:06 | 0:02:09
close to the equator. | 0:02:09 | 0:02:11
But this is what we are looking at for areas a bit further South, | 0:02:11 | 0:02:15
so Sydney only around about 17 Celsius with a few showers. | 0:02:15 | 0:02:17
Similar weather for Melbourne. | 0:02:17 | 0:02:19
For most of us in Melbourne | 0:02:19 | 0:02:20
and Adelaide the weather is looking fairly promising. | 0:02:20 | 0:02:24
And for the North and the South Island of New Zealand, around about | 0:02:24 | 0:02:27
12 degrees there in Christchurch, so a little on the cool side. | 0:02:27 | 0:02:30
Auckland a little warmer at about 16 or 17 degrees. | 0:02:30 | 0:02:33
And indeed into Monday the weather stays | 0:02:33 | 0:02:36
fresh across the South East of Australia. | 0:02:36 | 0:02:40
Back in the UK, the weekend for the UK, some sunshine, | 0:02:40 | 0:02:42
there will be a little bit of rain in Scotland, | 0:02:42 | 0:02:45
and also in Scotland it is going to turn fresher too. | 0:02:45 | 0:02:47
It's as a result of this weather front crossing Scotland | 0:02:47 | 0:02:51
and Northern Ireland, | 0:02:51 | 0:02:52
so it will bring a brief spell of rain to the Lowlands, | 0:02:52 | 0:02:55
but to the South of that, across most of England and Wales, a bit like | 0:02:55 | 0:02:58
Thursday, Friday isn't really going to bring an awful lot of change. | 0:02:58 | 0:03:01
It's the amount of cloud that we're going to get is very | 0:03:01 | 0:03:04
difficult to predict. | 0:03:04 | 0:03:05
For some of us it will be a | 0:03:05 | 0:03:07
bright day with some sunshine poking through. | 0:03:07 | 0:03:09
Other areas will be a bit more cloudy. | 0:03:09 | 0:03:11
But the real rainfall is going to fall across Northern Ireland | 0:03:11 | 0:03:14
and the Lowlands of Scotland. | 0:03:14 | 0:03:17
However later in the day on Friday it is going to brighten | 0:03:17 | 0:03:20
up across the Western Isles and here in the Highlands too we will | 0:03:20 | 0:03:23
get some sunshine with temperatures of around 16 in Inverness. | 0:03:23 | 0:03:27
And back into England and across most of the Midlands and East Anglia | 0:03:27 | 0:03:30
it's looking dry apart from the odd little pesky shower, | 0:03:30 | 0:03:33
maybe some thicker cloud, but on balance it's not such a bad day | 0:03:33 | 0:03:36
with temperatures getting up | 0:03:36 | 0:03:37
to around 20 or 21 degrees Celsius. | 0:03:37 | 0:03:39
On Saturday the weather fronts from Scotland will move a little | 0:03:39 | 0:03:42
bit further South, so maybe a little bit more cloud | 0:03:42 | 0:03:45
and rain along some of these Eastern counties. | 0:03:45 | 0:03:47
Also through Sunday we're expecting one of these weather fronts | 0:03:47 | 0:03:50
to return to Scotland and bring some rain to the North, | 0:03:50 | 0:03:53
in places like Moray and Aberdeenshire, | 0:03:53 | 0:03:55
whereas once again in the South for England and Wales | 0:03:55 | 0:03:57
and actually across Northern Ireland too it's looking dry. Bye. | 0:03:57 | 0:04:00 |
