You're live with me, Nel, and Newsround is on the way. I'll be

:00:00.:00:16.

finding out why it's all looking a bit hazy in the sky at the moment.

:00:17.:00:20.

It's the end of the road for Waterloo Road. First up air

:00:21.:00:30.

pollution and some of you might have noticed your hometown looking a

:00:31.:00:33.

little bit hazy today. That's because over the last couple of days

:00:34.:00:37.

some parts of England and Wales have experienced high or very high levels

:00:38.:00:40.

of pollution. Martin's been finding out more about where it's all come

:00:41.:00:46.

from. Today the pollution level is high... A murky morning in

:00:47.:00:48.

Leicester. A hazy skyline across London. Air pollution is on the up

:00:49.:00:52.

across England and Wales, reaching the very highest levels on the

:00:53.:00:55.

Government's air quality scale, hitting scores of eight, nine and

:00:56.:00:58.

even ten in parts of Norfolk. And it's hazy scenes like this one

:00:59.:01:02.

across Manchester that many of us are still seeing today. And here's

:01:03.:01:07.

why... Dust has been blown up towards the British Isles, from the

:01:08.:01:10.

Sahara desert in Northern Africa. It's combined with pollutants that

:01:11.:01:13.

have drifted across from factories in Europe and it's got mixed with

:01:14.:01:17.

emissions from cars and factories in the UK. On top of this there hasn't

:01:18.:01:23.

been much wind to blow it away and high pressure above us is acting

:01:24.:01:27.

like a giant saucepan lid, trapping all the pollutants. Forecasters say

:01:28.:01:32.

it's going to improve in the next few days and rain is expected to

:01:33.:01:35.

wash the pollutants out by the end of the week. So that's what's caused

:01:36.:01:40.

the increase in air pollution. But what does it mean for us? Martin's

:01:41.:01:44.

been speaking to scientist Dr Kimberley Leather, who's an expert

:01:45.:01:53.

on the earth's atmosphere. What is happening? These occurrences

:01:54.:01:57.

don't happen often. There's no need to worry or do anything different.

:01:58.:02:01.

Certain people may be more vulnerable, such as the elderly,

:02:02.:02:06.

people with asthma and people with heart and lung problems. The

:02:07.:02:10.

Government warned that they shouldn't do any hard exercise. How

:02:11.:02:14.

does the pollution here compared to other places around the world, like

:02:15.:02:20.

China? The worst-case scenario in the UK, places like Beijing can be

:02:21.:02:29.

up to five times worse. People in the South American country of Chile

:02:30.:02:32.

are returning to their homes after a powerful earthquake hit off the

:02:33.:02:35.

country's coast last night. It triggered power cuts and landslides.

:02:36.:02:38.

Waves over two metres in height were also reported. Six people were

:02:39.:02:41.

killed and thousands more had to leave their homes. These CCTV

:02:42.:02:44.

pictures from inside a supermarket show just how fierce the tremors

:02:45.:02:48.

were. Head to the website if there's anything in the news that upsets

:02:49.:02:51.

you, there's help and advice there as well as a guide to what causes

:02:52.:02:58.

earthquakes. Sports news, and Jose Mourinho's Chelsea side will face

:02:59.:03:01.

the might of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in France tonight for their Champions

:03:02.:03:03.

League quarterfinal, against Paris St Germain. The French side look

:03:04.:03:06.

likely to win their second League title in a row, mainly thanks to the

:03:07.:03:10.

genius of the Swedish striker. Chelsea boss Mourinho remembers

:03:11.:03:13.

Zlatan well, after managing him at Inter Milan. During one year of the

:03:14.:03:21.

relationship was phenomenal. When people say he is a kind of difficult

:03:22.:03:26.

personality, for me, the difficult personalities of the players that

:03:27.:03:29.

don't want to win, don't want to work, don't want to be the best. He

:03:30.:03:34.

wants to win, he wants to be the best. Next, could we soon be seeing

:03:35.:03:40.

robots patrolling the streets and fighting crime? Well a team of

:03:41.:03:43.

engineers in America has developed the Knightscope K5. It's about 1.5

:03:44.:03:46.

metres tall and is equipped with the latest technology, so it can detect

:03:47.:03:52.

when things go wrong. It's a very friendly and engaging robot. We have

:03:53.:03:57.

360 degrees cameras for surveillance, radiological, chemical

:03:58.:04:02.

and biological sensor detectors. We have number plate recognition,

:04:03.:04:06.

facial recognition and gestural recognition. If somebody is waiting

:04:07.:04:09.

at their hands laying on the ground where they shouldn't be, they pick

:04:10.:04:16.

an that and they can send queues. Sad news for Waterloo Road fans. The

:04:17.:04:20.

school gates are closing for good next year. The BBC has announced

:04:21.:04:23.

that the popular school drama will come to an end after its 10th

:04:24.:04:27.

series. TV bosses said they were "incredibly proud" of the show, but

:04:28.:04:31.

that it had "reached the end of its life cycle". Don't worry, though,

:04:32.:04:34.

there are still 20 episodes to go before a new drama takes its place.

:04:35.:04:37.

Finally, before you have your tea tonight make sure you head over to

:04:38.:04:41.

the Newsround website. You'll find snaps from some of the best wildlife

:04:42.:04:45.

photos captured in the UK. And you can see what happened when a dad

:04:46.:04:48.

turned his son into a superhero using some amazing special effects.

:04:49.:04:52.

More coming your way at 6.50pm when I'm back with Newsround. Bye!

:04:53.:04:58.
