It's Tuesday afternoon, Ayshah here with your Newsround update. On the

:00:00.:00:08.

way: We've got the story of the pilot of this plane, who made an

:00:09.:00:11.

incredible escape. And how safari park visitors in

:00:12.:00:14.

Japan are getting the chance to get up close with lion cubs! This is

:00:15.:00:21.

Newsround. First, polio is a disease that

:00:22.:00:24.

mainly affects young children, but recently it looked like we were

:00:25.:00:27.

getting very close to getting rid of it forever. But the disease is on

:00:28.:00:32.

the rise in some countries, and doctors are warning that more needs

:00:33.:00:36.

to be done - quickly - to stamp out the illness. Here's Martin.

:00:37.:00:39.

It can be prevented by a vaccine with just a couple of drops. The

:00:40.:00:44.

world HAD made huge steps forward in recent years in stopping polio

:00:45.:00:48.

spreading. But now it's back on the rise.

:00:49.:00:51.

The vaccine is a weak form of the virus, that makes your body produce

:00:52.:00:55.

antibodies against the polio virus. These antibodies protect you from

:00:56.:01:00.

getting ill if you are infected. But why is polio such a problem? Polio

:01:01.:01:10.

is caused by the polio virus which infects the nervous system, and this

:01:11.:01:14.

destroys the muscles in our arms and legs. It can even affect the muscles

:01:15.:01:21.

that help us breathe. We are seeing a huge outbreak around the world

:01:22.:01:24.

because they are not able to get the vaccine that we are able to get in

:01:25.:01:27.

the UK. In the UK, babies are given the dose

:01:28.:01:30.

along with other vaccinations. It means polio hasn't occurred

:01:31.:01:33.

naturally here for many years - and it's not likely to ever again. But

:01:34.:01:37.

it's not the same story in other parts of the world. The World Health

:01:38.:01:40.

Organisation is now warning that cases of polio in some countries are

:01:41.:01:44.

increasing, calling it a global health emergency. This map shows the

:01:45.:01:49.

countries where polio exists - but some countries are more affected

:01:50.:01:53.

than others. In places like Syria, Afghanistan,

:01:54.:01:56.

and Somalia, war is a major factor and makes getting vaccines to the

:01:57.:02:01.

people who need it more difficult. One of the countries that's seeing a

:02:02.:02:12.

big increase is Pakistan. Militant groups violently oppose

:02:13.:02:15.

immunisation, and many health workers have been attacked.

:02:16.:02:18.

The message from the World Health Organisation is clear: governments

:02:19.:02:22.

in affected countries must act now to stop this preventable disease.

:02:23.:02:25.

Next, should the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City have second

:02:26.:02:28.

teams playing in the Football League? The FA is looking at big

:02:29.:02:32.

plans to try and shake up the league structure, to get more young,

:02:33.:02:35.

home-grown talent in English football. But how would it work?

:02:36.:02:42.

What they are thinking about is the idea of a new competition for the

:02:43.:02:46.

reserve teams of clubs in the top two divisions, and these teams would

:02:47.:02:52.

be composed mainly of young, English players, and that would give them

:02:53.:02:58.

much more experience. One problem is the not enough home-grown players.

:02:59.:03:02.

We have lots of international players, it is that for English

:03:03.:03:06.

players to get into those teams. Where would this fit into the food

:03:07.:03:10.

Link structure? That would raise issues of how promotion and

:03:11.:03:17.

relegation would work. -- food all structure.

:03:18.:03:21.

-- food. Now, this is the last thing you'd

:03:22.:03:25.

expect to find when you come home from school. This small plane

:03:26.:03:29.

crashed into a house in Colorado in America. It's thought that its

:03:30.:03:31.

engine failed. Luckily no-one was home at the time, and amazingly the

:03:32.:03:35.

pilot came away unhurt with just a few cuts and bruises. After escaping

:03:36.:03:39.

from the plane he even attempted to put the out fire himself with a

:03:40.:03:42.

garden hose, before firefighters arrived to save the day.

:03:43.:03:45.

Next up, tomorrow is a big day for women's cycling as the first ever

:03:46.:03:48.

women's Tour of Britain gets under way. Team GB's Olympic legends Laura

:03:49.:03:52.

Trott and Dani King will be taking part in front of cheering home

:03:53.:03:55.

crowds - but sadly not Joanna Rowsell, who's had to pull out with

:03:56.:03:59.

flu. But it still promises to be a big moment for the sport. There is

:04:00.:04:05.

no reason why Britain should not have a stage race. Cycling is

:04:06.:04:13.

massive now. I know how crazy great written is about cycling, they

:04:14.:04:18.

really love the sport. There will be a great experience, and I expect big

:04:19.:04:20.

crowds. And make sure you check out

:04:21.:04:23.

Newsround tomorrow morning, where we'll have a report from the start

:04:24.:04:26.

of the big race. And last up - we all know kittens

:04:27.:04:31.

are fun to play with, but how about baby lions? This pair of cute cubs

:04:32.:04:35.

were born a few weeks ago at a safari park in Japan, and since then

:04:36.:04:38.

have been entertaining visitors, even posing for photos. Their

:04:39.:04:41.

keepers say that while they're this tiny it's OK to have a cuddle with

:04:42.:04:45.

them, before they grow too big and dangerous!

:04:46.:04:48.

That's it from me. But if you're busy swapping World Cup football

:04:49.:04:51.

stickers, join us at 6:50 tonight. Ricky's been getting top trading

:04:52.:04:55.

tips from the experts in the City! See you then.
