Hello. Here's what's coming up. A warning that hundreds of thousands

of these creatures may need to be culled.

And is this the song to win us the Eurovision?

First up, half of the deer in the UK may need to be culled, which

means humanely killed of the damage they are doing to the environment

and other wildlife. That is what a group of scientists are

recommending. They say the deer population is bigger than at any

time since the last Ice Age. Deer have been part of the British

countryside for thousands of years. Now there's a warning that the

number of these creatures are out of control. Researchers from the

University of East Anglia used night-vision technology to count

the animals. Why are the numbers rising? The problem is there are

not natural predators. There is nothing to hunt the deers. In past

years, there would have been wolves and they would have maintained the

numbers. What is the problem to have so many? They are an important

part of our habitat because they graze certain areas. If you have

too many the balance is upset. It munches away on our flowers,

bluebells and things like that. They come into our human areas much

more. For instance, there is an in creased number of road traffic

accidents. That can lead to fatalities. Researchers say the

only way to control the number of deer is to carry out a cull of

750,000 of them. They say this is important and should happen

urgently in order to protect the countryside. Not everyone is in

favour. One animal charity say a yearly cull is unnecessary and the

RSPCA have said if a cull does go ahead, it will have to be carried

out in a humane way. Whatever happens, many people hope deer will

be an important part of our countryside for years to come.

Today is World Book Day - a celebration of reading in over 100

countries. Loads of you have dressed up as your favourite

study out today has found eating a lot of bacon, salami and other

processed meats can be really bad for you. While small amounts can be

fine for your health, eating a lot of this meat can increase

developing heart disease later on in late. It is meat preserved by

adding salt or other chemicals. There is more information on this

on the website. Finally, it has not gone well for us in recent years.

Can it be any different in 2013? I am talking about the Eurovision

Song Contest. The UK's entry has been announced. Right now things

are looking good for British music - Adele, one direction and Mumford

and Sons have conquered America. Flying the flag for the UK this

year will be 61-year-old Bonnie Tyler.

She might not mean a lot to you, but mention her to your parents or

even grandparents and they will remember her. She topped the charts

in the 1980s with ballards like this and this... # I need a hero #
