Live with news of Prince George's big trip down under on the way. | :00:07. | :00:20.
Plus: This is Newsround! Let's start in Africa where the | :00:21. | :00:23.
people of Rwanda have begun a special week to mark 20 years since | :00:24. | :00:27.
one of history's most distressing events. The BBC's George Alagiah has | :00:28. | :00:33.
been at a special ceremony today. You may find some of what he says | :00:34. | :00:35.
upsetting. I am in Rwanda's biggest stadium and | :00:36. | :00:41.
thousands of people are here and they're remembering some of the | :00:42. | :00:45.
terrible things that happened 20 years ago, what happened was that | :00:46. | :00:51.
800,000 people, that's nearly a million people, were killed because | :00:52. | :00:55.
they belonged to an ethnic group called the Tutsi. Women and children | :00:56. | :01:00.
were among those killed. Today there are lots of children here in Rwanda | :01:01. | :01:04.
that are too young to remember what happened. They weren't even born 20 | :01:05. | :01:09.
years ago. But I have been finding out they've been learning all about | :01:10. | :01:15.
those terrible things which are called genocide, they've been | :01:16. | :01:20.
learning about it in their classrooms. | :01:21. | :01:25.
Morning break at this school. 20 years ago I visited this school. | :01:26. | :01:30.
Then the pupils were being helped with the trauma of having witnessed | :01:31. | :01:34.
the genocide. Let's see what they're up to now. | :01:35. | :01:40.
Today even these primary school children are taught about the | :01:41. | :01:44.
genocide and why it must never be allowed to happen again. First | :01:45. | :01:49.
question - what were the causes of the massacres? The pupils, whether | :01:50. | :01:59.
they're from the majority Huti population or the once persecuted | :02:00. | :02:05.
Tutsis are taught they're just Rwandans now. The country is trying | :02:06. | :02:09.
to move beyond ethnicity. The emphasis now is on working together, | :02:10. | :02:14.
since the Government scrapped Tuesday virtually every child gets | :02:15. | :02:18.
-- scrapped tuition feeses virtually every child gets education. It's | :02:19. | :02:22.
Rwanda's best chance to create a generation for whom genocide is | :02:23. | :02:27.
consigned to the history books. Remember if there's anything you see | :02:28. | :02:30.
or hear in the news that upsets you there's lots of help and advice on | :02:31. | :02:35.
the Newsround website. In other news, Prince George has | :02:36. | :02:39.
travelled to the other side of the world as part of his first official | :02:40. | :02:43.
Royal trip. He has touched down in New Zealand with his mum and dad, | :02:44. | :02:46.
the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and lots of people were excited to | :02:47. | :02:51.
see them. Here is yenny. Royal touch down in New Zealand -- | :02:52. | :02:55.
Jenny. The visit of this little boy is big news, especially for those | :02:56. | :02:59.
who got to meet the family. Everyone has been talking about it and we got | :03:00. | :03:03.
to experience it. It's a really amazing opportunity. They were | :03:04. | :03:07.
really down to earth. So nice. The Royals are visiting because the | :03:08. | :03:13.
Queen's still officially - the Queen still officially rules Australia. It | :03:14. | :03:18.
dates back to when she had much more control over Commonwealth countries. | :03:19. | :03:21.
There are those who have questioned whether that should continue. This | :03:22. | :03:25.
visit is partly designed to show off the benefits of having closer ties | :03:26. | :03:29.
to royalty although some need more convincing than others. I went to | :03:30. | :03:36.
the wedding in the UK, people call it magic, obsession. But yeah, | :03:37. | :03:39.
there's something magical about them. I love them. Baby George's | :03:40. | :03:44.
first international tour, they don't come to New Zealand every week. You | :03:45. | :03:48.
want to see them. The Royal couple were welcomed by traditional Maori | :03:49. | :03:54.
warriors and took part in a greeting ceremony where people rub noses to | :03:55. | :03:58.
say hello. The Prince will travel with his parents around New Zealand, | :03:59. | :04:02.
then on to Australia. An opportunity for people there to meet the boy who | :04:03. | :04:09.
might one day be their King. Prince George isn't the only one | :04:10. | :04:13.
attract th new fans. Fresh from being crowned winner of The Voice | :04:14. | :04:17.
Jermaine Jackman answered some of your questions. The 19-year-old | :04:18. | :04:21.
landed a major record deal after being voted this year's best act on | :04:22. | :04:25.
Saturday. This is what he told us about the moment he won. I was | :04:26. | :04:30.
standing there thinking I need to go to the toilet, hurry up, please! My | :04:31. | :04:34.
hands were sweaty and when I heard my name called out it almost took a | :04:35. | :04:40.
second of a delay for me to go, what! ? And you can see Jermaine | :04:41. | :04:48.
answer more of your questions back here at 6. 50pm. Head to the website | :04:49. | :04:53.
for our guide on unusual greetings from around the world. We will see | :04:54. | :04:56.
you back here later. | :04:57. | :05:00. |
