Hello, and welcome to Newsround with me, Hayley.

0:00:030:00:05

Here's what everyone's talking about today...

0:00:050:00:09

How drones could help track rare whales...

0:00:090:00:12

And the unusually large worm found in Ecuador.

0:00:120:00:16

To the US now, where Hillary Clinton has been named as an official

0:00:260:00:29

candidate for the presidential election after months

0:00:290:00:31

of campaigning.

0:00:310:00:32

She's the first ever woman to have a real chance of becoming

0:00:320:00:34

president of one of the biggest and most powerful

0:00:360:00:38

countries in the world.

0:00:380:00:39

So I've been finding out more about her.

0:00:390:00:43

Who is Hillary Clinton?

0:00:430:00:45

She's a lawyer turned politician, and she is the first woman to ever

0:00:450:00:48

have a serious chance at becoming the President of the United States.

0:00:480:00:52

She first became famous when her husband, Bill Clinton,

0:00:520:00:55

was the President.

0:00:550:00:57

During her eight years as the First Lady of the United States,

0:00:570:01:00

she campaigned for women's rights and for health care,

0:01:000:01:04

and became a well-known political figure around the world.

0:01:040:01:08

As her husband's leadership came to a close, she decided

0:01:080:01:10

to enter politics herself.

0:01:100:01:13

She wanted to run for President in 2008, but supporters

0:01:130:01:15

of her political party, the Democrats, chose

0:01:150:01:18

Barack Obama to run instead.

0:01:180:01:22

When he won the US election, he appointed Clinton

0:01:220:01:24

as his Secretary of State, and she spent four years in this

0:01:240:01:27

important position, where she looked after America's relationships

0:01:270:01:28

with other countries.

0:01:280:01:33

Now she has a serious chance of becoming the next President.

0:01:330:01:37

The battle for the position is attracting huge attention

0:01:370:01:39

because both Clinton and her Republican party opponent,

0:01:390:01:41

Donald Trump, are so well known around the world.

0:01:410:01:46

Clinton's priorities are employment, equality and health care,

0:01:460:01:50

but many of her opponents think she's an untrustworthy politician.

0:01:500:01:54

Those who support her think this is sexist, and that people

0:01:540:01:57

don't approve of her just because she is a woman.

0:01:570:02:01

If successful, she'll be the first female President

0:02:010:02:03

of the United States.

0:02:030:02:06

The election campaign is already dividing the USA.

0:02:060:02:09

The battle for one of the most influential jobs in the world

0:02:090:02:12

is only going to get hotter as the election draws nearer.

0:02:120:02:16

Now take a look at this rare footage of a Bryde whale off

0:02:170:02:20

the coast of New Zealand.

0:02:200:02:23

They are an endangered species and this footage, taken by a drone,

0:02:230:02:25

is one of the first to capture the whales feeding

0:02:250:02:28

in their natural habitat.

0:02:280:02:31

Scientists believe using drones can help protect the creatures

0:02:310:02:33

without disturbing them.

0:02:330:02:38

Next to the school where two wheels are better than a car.

0:02:380:02:41

Ricky's been to a school in Yorkshire where children have won

0:02:410:02:43

an award for the amount of time they spend on their bikes.

0:02:430:02:46

Helmet on, school awaits.

0:02:530:02:55

There's nothing like a good bike ride.

0:02:550:02:58

No matter what the weather is like, even when it's raining,

0:02:580:03:01

these guys get on their bikes and their scooters, and off they go.

0:03:010:03:07

And these guys are so good at it that they've even won an award.

0:03:120:03:16

For five whole days, every single kids at this small

0:03:170:03:19

school in Yorkshire cycled or scooted to school.

0:03:190:03:24

I think it's important because you're stopping

0:03:250:03:27

pollution, and you're not...

0:03:270:03:29

It's kind of like changing the world.

0:03:290:03:33

You can just go anywhere you want, really.

0:03:330:03:39

I love cycling because it's nice and it's kind of...

0:03:410:03:45

It makes the world better and it kind of relaxes me when

0:03:450:03:48

I go for a bike ride.

0:03:480:03:50

But there's still a problem.

0:03:500:03:51

Cycling charities say lots of you aren't able to ride to school.

0:03:510:03:57

When we do surveys with young people, we find that around a third

0:03:570:04:00

of them want to cycle to school, and yet just one in 50 children

0:04:000:04:03

cycle to school in this country.

0:04:030:04:06

So there's a big difference there.

0:04:060:04:08

But if you go to countries like Denmark or the Netherlands,

0:04:080:04:11

something like a third of children will cycle to school.

0:04:110:04:14

You see much more on a bike than you see in a car,

0:04:140:04:17

and you get more exercise than in a car.

0:04:170:04:21

Busy roads can put lots of you off getting on your bike.

0:04:210:04:25

Charities say riding in groups with an adult can make it easier

0:04:250:04:27

and safer for young people.

0:04:270:04:32

Now, I hope this doesn't put you off your tea,

0:04:340:04:37

but take a look at this giant earthworm spotted during a rainstorm

0:04:370:04:40

in Ecuador in South America.

0:04:400:04:42

It's over one metre in length and weighed

0:04:420:04:44

as much as a bag of sugar.

0:04:440:04:50

That's all from me.

0:04:500:04:50
