I'm Ayshah with the latest stories this Saturday.

:00:11.:00:13.

First to Hurricane Matthew, the storm has affected the Caribbean

:00:14.:00:16.

I've been looking into what's happened and what's

:00:17.:00:20.

Medical help arrives. This is one of the coastal towns in Haiti that has

:00:21.:00:39.

been cut off by the storm. The south part of the island has been the

:00:40.:00:43.

worst affected. As rescue teams reach more parts of the country, it

:00:44.:00:47.

is estimated that nearly 900 people have died. It's not the first time

:00:48.:00:54.

Haiti has been affected by natural disaster. In 2010, a massive

:00:55.:00:58.

earthquake struck the country and killed more than 220 thousand

:00:59.:01:05.

people. So why do things like this keep happening to Haiti? Haiti, as a

:01:06.:01:09.

For Haiti, as a poor country, they have got

:01:10.:01:11.

rid of a lot of their trees on the mountains,

:01:12.:01:14.

so all the rain water comes down into the settlements below,

:01:15.:01:16.

Because they are poorer than their neighbours in the

:01:17.:01:19.

Dominican Republic, the structures in Haiti are not quite as good,

:01:20.:01:22.

so the houses start being destroyed when you get these very strong winds

:01:23.:01:25.

from tropical storms and hurricanes, as they move in.

:01:26.:01:31.

Haiti is very poor, so buildings and things like water and electricity

:01:32.:01:36.

supplies get badly damaged because they're not ill strong enough to

:01:37.:01:42.

stand up to big storms. And many people don't have enough money to

:01:43.:01:45.

prepare their homes. It means they're going to need a lot of help

:01:46.:01:48.

from other countries and charities to rebuild their lives.

:01:49.:01:51.

The latest on the hurricane is that it's weakened to a category one

:01:52.:01:54.

and is moving near the coast South Carolina in the US.

:01:55.:01:57.

But the storm has killed four people in Florida and knocked out power

:01:58.:02:00.

There's tons of stuff at Newsround online about Hurricane Matthew,

:02:01.:02:04.

including guides to different types of storms and, remember,

:02:05.:02:08.

if you're upset by anything in the news there's plenty

:02:09.:02:10.

Next, if you're easily put off your lunch, look away now.

:02:11.:02:18.

A bakery in Edinburgh is selling cakes made from insects.

:02:19.:02:20.

They say they're better for you than traditional meat.

:02:21.:02:22.

In many parts of the world insects are part of daily meals.

:02:23.:02:25.

Some people argue they're better for the environment than farming

:02:26.:02:28.

So what do these daring diners think of the bug bakes?

:02:29.:02:45.

Is eating insects is a great idea or do you just think, "eurgh"?

:02:46.:03:01.

Well, we've been asking you about this all day and Chelsea

:03:02.:03:05.

in Norfolk says "That is gross." I think I agree!

:03:06.:03:07.

Countries from around the world have been meeting in South Africa

:03:08.:03:10.

to decide how to protect endangered animals like elephants.

:03:11.:03:12.

Jenny was there, she's visited a school near to lots of nature

:03:13.:03:15.

reserves where elephants live, to find out what it's like growing

:03:16.:03:18.

up so close to these amazing creatures.

:03:19.:03:19.

In Afrikaans, "olifant" means elephant.

:03:20.:03:21.

Some of their classes are taken outside and

:03:22.:03:38.

a lot of the lessons learn about animals.

:03:39.:03:41.

And even their awards have a bit of a theme.

:03:42.:03:44.

The school is only 20 minutes away from nature reserves

:03:45.:03:46.

and loads of incredible animals, including elephants,

:03:47.:03:51.

It is not just the children here who are

:03:52.:03:56.

They are very popular around the world,

:03:57.:04:00.

including this school in the United Kingdom.

:04:01.:04:02.

They have even named their class after them.

:04:03.:04:08.

And they have got some big questions for the children living in

:04:09.:04:12.

What is it like living near elephants?

:04:13.:04:16.

It is nice because you get to see them a lot and you get to

:04:17.:04:19.

It is just nice being around them and you can often

:04:20.:04:23.

hear them communicating with each other.

:04:24.:04:25.

It is actually very cool, unless they start to wreck through

:04:26.:04:28.

How do elephants show their feelings?

:04:29.:04:32.

It is noises and rumbling and also body language.

:04:33.:04:38.

When an elephant is angry or scared, it's tail will go up like this.

:04:39.:04:43.

I am very upset that elephants are hunted.

:04:44.:04:49.

All these people really want are the tasks, because they use

:04:50.:04:57.

You are killing and in danger animal.

:04:58.:05:04.

It makes me feel sad and very angry at the same time.

:05:05.:05:08.

I love elephants and I love her room important they are to the

:05:09.:05:11.

A baby whale has helped out its Mum when she got stuck on a sandbank

:05:12.:05:35.

The calf pushed the adult whale, who then splashed

:05:36.:05:39.

Mum and baby were then seen swimming off happily.

:05:40.:05:46.

That's all from me, Newsround's back right here in about half an hour.

:05:47.:05:55.
