up: Could scientists finally find the unknown chunk of the universe?

And the kangaroo that has more than just a spring in its step. This is

Newsround. First to the mystery surrounding

what scientists say makes up a quarter of our universe. It's known

as dark matter, but the problem is no-one has actually ever seen it or

detected it. Now an experiment in South Dakota, America, might finally

solve the mystery. Nel's got more. No-one knows what it looks like, but

many scientists say without it, the universe wouldn't exist in its

current form. Essentially, they think it is a type of particle. The

risks are much of this stuff. There are billions of particles floating

through as all the time. Without it, we would not be here. No-one knows

what dark matter looks like, but scientists think these mysterious

particles are everywhere. And now an experiment located in the bottom of

a gold mine in South Dakota in America could offer the best chance

yet of detecting dark matter. It is a big tank which has got a particle

detector in now. As they streamed through the earth, it will catch the

very occasional times that the particles bump into regular matter.

The race is hotting up to find dark matter and if it does exist,

scientists in South Dakota want to be the first ones to detect it.

Football now and it's a big game for Manchester United tonight. The Reds

will play against tournament favourites Bayern Munich for a place

in the Champions League semifinal. United go into the match 1-1 on

aggregate. Wayne Rooney was a doubt to play after getting an injured toe

in training. However, his manager thinks he's too important to leave

out. He is happy to take an injection to play in the game, which

shows you his feeling about the game and that the club.

Now check out this robotic kangaroo, made by a company in Germany. It

jumps and acts just like a real kangaroo. However, the designers say

it's not a toy and was built to show how the movement of animals can help

build industrial machines. Finally, take a look at this. These

pictures were taken at the edge of space from a camera attached to a

balloon by a group of school children. The balloon popped when

the pressure got too low and sent the camera floating back to earth.

The experiment was carried out by the engineering club at Cedars Upper

School, who worked with Cambridge University to make the weather
