Afternoon everyone, Martin here with Saturday's best stories. | 0:00:05 | 0:00:07
Coming up: A heroes' welcome home for the Wales footy team. | 0:00:07 | 0:00:11
And we've got five things you probably didn't | 0:00:11 | 0:00:16
know about Jupiter. | 0:00:16 | 0:00:25
But first, Andy Murray is one win away from a second Wimbledon title. | 0:00:25 | 0:00:25
The British number one saw off Tomas Berdych in straight sets | 0:00:29 | 0:00:32
and made it through to his third Wimbledon final. | 0:00:32 | 0:00:34
He'll take on Milos Raonic, after the Canadian | 0:00:34 | 0:00:36
beat Roger Federer. | 0:00:36 | 0:00:38
Tomorrow will be Murray's 11th major final! | 0:00:38 | 0:00:43
As you get older, you never know how many chances you're going to have | 0:00:43 | 0:00:47
to play in a grand slam final, so you want to make | 0:00:47 | 0:00:50
the most of your opportunities, and I'm glad I managed | 0:00:50 | 0:00:53
to get through. | 0:00:53 | 0:00:57
And Murray isn't the only Brit in a Wimbledon final - | 0:00:57 | 0:00:59
Gordon Reid is through to the men's wheelchair singles final | 0:00:59 | 0:01:02
after he won his semi-final against Belgian Joachim Gerard | 0:01:02 | 0:01:06
in straight sets. | 0:01:06 | 0:01:09
This is the first year that Wimbledon has had a singles | 0:01:09 | 0:01:11
wheelchair tennis competition. | 0:01:11 | 0:01:13
Later today - defending women's champion Serena Williams will take | 0:01:13 | 0:01:16
on Angelique Kerber in the final. | 0:01:16 | 0:01:17
Serena's the favourite, being world number one and having | 0:01:17 | 0:01:21
won Wimbledon six times, while it's Kerber's | 0:01:21 | 0:01:23
first final there. | 0:01:23 | 0:01:25
But before the final gets going there will be a very important | 0:01:25 | 0:01:29
coin toss to see which player gets to serve first. | 0:01:29 | 0:01:32
Well, this year its Uma's job to toss the coin, | 0:01:32 | 0:01:35
which means she'll be standing on Centre Court on women's final | 0:01:35 | 0:01:37
day, right next to her sporting idols and I think it's safe to say | 0:01:37 | 0:01:41
she's pretty excited! | 0:01:41 | 0:01:43
It feels amazing, just incredible. | 0:01:43 | 0:01:47
I'm literally living a dream. | 0:01:47 | 0:01:49
I want to wish them good luck and hopefully | 0:01:49 | 0:01:53
my favourite, Serena Williams, will win. | 0:01:53 | 0:02:01
Now, they didn't quite reach the final - but tens of thousands | 0:02:01 | 0:02:04
of Welsh footy fans lined the streets of Cardiff | 0:02:04 | 0:02:06
to welcome the boys home after their historic journey at Euro | 0:02:06 | 0:02:09
16, this is what happened. | 0:02:09 | 0:02:11
It was a heros' welcome for the Welsh football team | 0:02:13 | 0:02:16
in Cardiff as a sea of fans lined the streets to | 0:02:16 | 0:02:19
greet them. | 0:02:19 | 0:02:21
They have made history and given | 0:02:21 | 0:02:23
people great memories. | 0:02:23 | 0:02:25
Proudest day of my life. | 0:02:25 | 0:02:26
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. | 0:02:26 | 0:02:27
The boys have done very well out in | 0:02:27 | 0:02:35
France and it is making Wales proud. | 0:02:35 | 0:02:37
Fans followed the celebrations every step | 0:02:37 | 0:02:39
of the way. | 0:02:39 | 0:02:40
The players thunderclapping in the sunshine. | 0:02:40 | 0:02:45
The party continued with a massive concert in | 0:02:45 | 0:02:47
the Cardiff City Stadium. | 0:02:47 | 0:02:50
It's great to be Welsh, isn't it? | 0:02:50 | 0:02:52
It doesn't come around very often. | 0:02:52 | 0:02:54
It's not supposed to happen to us. | 0:02:54 | 0:02:56
It's great. | 0:02:56 | 0:02:57
It's amazing. | 0:02:57 | 0:02:57
Brilliant, really good. | 0:02:57 | 0:02:58
It was the first time Wales has reached a major tournament | 0:02:58 | 0:03:01
in nearly 60 years. | 0:03:01 | 0:03:03
They made it to the semifinals of the Euros - | 0:03:03 | 0:03:05
the furthest they have ever got before. | 0:03:05 | 0:03:10
For the players it was a chance to say thank you. | 0:03:10 | 0:03:13
To get a welcome like this was amazing and shows how | 0:03:13 | 0:03:16
amazing our fans are. | 0:03:16 | 0:03:17
We couldn't have done it without everybody here | 0:03:17 | 0:03:19
and all the staff and players have been amazing and just a big thank | 0:03:19 | 0:03:22
you to everybody. | 0:03:22 | 0:03:23
It was a night Wales fans will remember for many | 0:03:23 | 0:03:28
years to come. will remember for many | 0:03:28 | 0:03:29
And up in space there's been another warm welcome - | 0:03:29 | 0:03:31
for three astronauts who've just reached | 0:03:31 | 0:03:33
the International Space Station on the Soyuz spacecraft. | 0:03:33 | 0:03:36
It docked smoothly earlier this morning after a two-day journey. | 0:03:36 | 0:03:42
The astronauts come from Russia, Japan and the US and join three | 0:03:42 | 0:03:45
others who are already up there. | 0:03:45 | 0:03:50
Nasa's Juno spacecraft started to orbit the biggest planet | 0:03:50 | 0:03:52
in our Solar system, Jupiter. | 0:03:52 | 0:03:57
It's job is to find out more about the gassy giant. | 0:03:57 | 0:04:02
We don't know much but here are five things that we do know | 0:04:02 | 0:04:05
about Jupiter. | 0:04:05 | 0:04:06
Jupiter is the biggest planet in the solar system. | 0:04:06 | 0:04:10
It's so big over 1000 earths would fit inside it. | 0:04:10 | 0:04:13
But we don't really understand how Jupiter was formed, how it was made, | 0:04:13 | 0:04:16
even where it was made exactly. | 0:04:16 | 0:04:21
And it's key to understanding that is how we understand how | 0:04:21 | 0:04:23
the other planets in the solar system were made. | 0:04:23 | 0:04:25
Jupiter has got a really strong magnetic field. | 0:04:25 | 0:04:32
What that means is it's got a really bright aurora, the Northern lights, | 0:04:32 | 0:04:35
that shine really brightly at the north and south magnetic | 0:04:35 | 0:04:37
poles and what we want to understand is how those are generated. | 0:04:37 | 0:04:40
When we look at Jupiter we see these really beautiful cloud belts, | 0:04:40 | 0:04:43
these horizontal bands of differnet colours and they are made up | 0:04:43 | 0:04:46
of different elements in the atmosphere of Jupiter. | 0:04:46 | 0:04:51
There is winds circling around Jupiter at over 300 mph | 0:04:51 | 0:04:53
and we want to understand how those winds are generated and where those | 0:04:53 | 0:04:56
colours are created. | 0:04:56 | 0:04:58
Jupiter has four large moons - Io, Callisto, Ganymede and Europa. | 0:04:58 | 0:05:04
Galileo was the first to spot these when he used a telescope to look | 0:05:04 | 0:05:07
at them 400 years ago, and even today you can see | 0:05:07 | 0:05:10
them just with the power of binoculars or a telescope. | 0:05:10 | 0:05:14
We are now able to find planets orbiting other stars and the easiest | 0:05:14 | 0:05:17
ones to sport are the largest ones, ones like Jupiter. | 0:05:17 | 0:05:20
But they are very different from Jupiter, so making sure we can | 0:05:20 | 0:05:24
understand Jupiter in our own solar system will help us understand, | 0:05:24 | 0:05:27
not only how our planets are made, but how these other planets around | 0:05:27 | 0:05:30
other stars are made. | 0:05:30 | 0:05:37
Well, when it comes to flying high, those astronauts might have a little | 0:05:37 | 0:05:40
bit of competition from our very own Prince George. | 0:05:40 | 0:05:42
Check this out. | 0:05:42 | 0:05:43
On a day out at an air show with his mum and dad, | 0:05:43 | 0:05:46
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince George didn't waste | 0:05:46 | 0:05:49
anytime getting on some pretty cool helicopters! | 0:05:49 | 0:05:51
That's all from me, your next Newsround update is at 1:40. | 0:05:51 | 0:05:53
See you then! | 0:05:53 | 0:05:59 |
