Morning, Leah here with Thursday's top stories. Coming up. Did | :00:00. | :00:08.
Manchester City do enough to beat Barcelona? Keep watching. And keep | :00:09. | :00:15.
watching for the rare Tigers cubs. Only on Newsround. | :00:16. | :00:29.
First to Sochi, and to a nail biting finish in the curling where | :00:30. | :00:32.
Britain's wheelchair team have pulled off a remarkable comeback | :00:33. | :00:35.
against the US. Aileen Neilson's team found themselves 5-1 down after | :00:36. | :00:38.
five ends. But they stormed back to level the game. Next up for Great | :00:39. | :00:43.
Britain is China who they play at 11:30 this morning. Next, tens of | :00:44. | :00:47.
thousands of budding scientists, engineers and space lovers will head | :00:48. | :00:50.
to the NEC in Birmingham over the next few days for the largest | :00:51. | :00:53.
celebration of science and technology for children in the UK. | :00:54. | :00:56.
The Big Bang Fair is all about encouraging more kids to work in | :00:57. | :00:59.
these fields and inspire perhaps the next Professor Brian Cox or Tim | :01:00. | :01:09.
Peake. Martin is there for us now. This fair is a massive celebration | :01:10. | :01:15.
of science, technology, engineering and maths. There will be some very | :01:16. | :01:22.
excited schoolkids coming through here to see what they can expect in | :01:23. | :01:28.
the future. We have some budding scientists here. This looks amazing. | :01:29. | :01:36.
Where welding the edges of chocolate and sticking it together to create | :01:37. | :01:43.
this shape. We can create a box and it is really strong. What do you | :01:44. | :01:52.
love about science? You can really get stuck in and make your own | :01:53. | :01:57.
stuff. It is fun and interesting to see how things work. Where are those | :01:58. | :02:09.
robots? Hope you find them. Now if you've ever been told to tuck your | :02:10. | :02:12.
school shirts in and straighten up your ties every now and again are | :02:13. | :02:16.
your teachers any better when it comes to how smart they dress? Well, | :02:17. | :02:20.
some staff at a London school have been criticised by education | :02:21. | :02:22.
inspectors for being too casual. They're worried adults may be | :02:23. | :02:25.
setting a bad example to pupils by wearing casual clothes in lessons. | :02:26. | :02:29.
We want to hear from you. How smart do your teachers dress? Do you think | :02:30. | :02:33.
it matters what they wear? Head over to the website and tell us what you | :02:34. | :02:37.
think. All week on Newsround we've been showing you the ground breaking | :02:38. | :02:40.
technology behind the next wave of robots. Well now, researchers are | :02:41. | :02:43.
developing machines based on some of the smallest and fastest creatures | :02:44. | :02:46.
on planet earth. Ricky went to meet the scientists who are creating | :02:47. | :02:49.
robots by looking very closely at these.. Ants! | :02:50. | :03:01.
We have entered this new and exciting phase in robotics where | :03:02. | :03:07.
technology is taking inspiration from the nature around us and as | :03:08. | :03:17.
humans as well. We are trying to make robots that will make in -- | :03:18. | :03:24.
will work in the real world which is an untidy place. The world is full | :03:25. | :03:28.
of amazing creatures who get on perfectly well in the real world. | :03:29. | :03:33.
They provide us with inspiration and also fantastic design. Tell us about | :03:34. | :03:40.
the swarm and how those robots operate. It is meant to operate like | :03:41. | :03:46.
a colony of ants. To model the way that they forage for food. Some | :03:47. | :03:55.
scientists argue there's not much point in basing a robot on a human | :03:56. | :03:59.
being because we are too complex. So they turned their attention to | :04:00. | :04:02.
robots inspired by biology. Things like the grasshopper or even the | :04:03. | :04:12.
flea. Plenty of people are still interested in robots that look and | :04:13. | :04:15.
behave like people but many of us realise that most robots we really | :04:16. | :04:20.
need in the real world do not need to look like people. | :04:21. | :04:28.
Football now and Manchester City couldn't quite stop the mighty force | :04:29. | :04:31.
of Barcelona. They're out of the Champions League after a 2-1 defeat | :04:32. | :04:35.
last night - 4-1 overall. Lionel Messi and Dani Alves scoring for | :04:36. | :04:37.
Barcleona. Vincent Kompany scoring the only goal of the game for City! | :04:38. | :04:41.
Finally the three rare tiger cubs that were born at London Zoo. This | :04:42. | :04:45.
Sumatran tigress gave birth to the triplets last month and keepers are | :04:46. | :04:48.
now confident the cubs are healthy, so have released these images of | :04:49. | :04:51.
them, filmed by a hidden camera. The Sumatran tiger is listed as | :04:52. | :04:54.
critically endangered, and there's only about 300 in existence. That's | :04:55. | :04:57.
all from me, Newsround's back this afternoon. | :04:58. | :05:01. |
