Hi, I'm Ayshah. Today on Newsround we'll be talking about some sad news

:00:00.:00:00.

This morning, to sad news from Paris, the capital city of France,

:00:00.:00:20.

London, New York, in the US and Rio De Janeiro in Brazil.

:00:21.:00:31.

Just some of the cities, around the world, turning big

:00:32.:00:35.

buildings red, white, and blue - the colours of the French flag, to show

:00:36.:00:39.

It's happening because of attacks in the French capital city, that

:00:40.:00:46.

Sadly over one hundred people have died.

:00:47.:00:54.

The French President, Francois Hollande,

:00:55.:00:55.

And later these terrorists that capable of such atrocities, they

:00:56.:01:07.

need to know that they will be confronted by a France that is

:01:08.:01:10.

determined unified and pull together.

:01:11.:01:11.

Our Prime Minister, David Cameron said he's shocked,

:01:12.:01:13.

that his thoughts and prayers are with the French people, and that we

:01:14.:01:16.

Other world leaders, including US President, Barack Obama,

:01:17.:01:19.

We stand prepared and ready to provide whatever assistance that the

:01:20.:01:34.

people of France needs to respond. France is our oldest ally. The

:01:35.:01:39.

French people have stood shoulder to shoulder with the United States time

:01:40.:01:43.

and again and we want to be very clear that we stand together with

:01:44.:01:47.

them in the fight against terrorism and extremism.

:01:48.:01:50.

The streets of Paris are quiet this morning.

:01:51.:01:52.

The police and the army continue to work hard to help keep people safe.

:01:53.:01:55.

Jenny's with me now. Do we know yet who might have done this?

:01:56.:02:00.

We've just heard that a radical Islamist group that calls

:02:01.:02:03.

itself Islamic State has said that it carried out the attacks.

:02:04.:02:06.

French President Francois Hollande also thinks that Islamic State were

:02:07.:02:09.

We've got lots of information on that group, where they came

:02:10.:02:14.

from and why some people join them over on our website.

:02:15.:02:17.

And we've all seen this sad news this morning, what should you do if

:02:18.:02:20.

It is natural to feel sad when things like this happen, and

:02:21.:02:30.

remember this sort of event is very rare which is why it's on the news.

:02:31.:02:33.

The important thing if you're upset is to talk to an adult,

:02:34.:02:36.

And there's much more advice on our website.

:02:37.:02:45.

Thanks Jenny, there's more information about what's happened

:02:46.:02:47.

in Paris on the Newsround website, on our live page, which we'll be

:02:48.:02:50.

And that's also where you can find our advice if you do feel upset

:02:51.:02:55.

It's going to be a very rainy day for lots of you today.

:02:56.:03:03.

Northern Ireland, North wales and Northern England are

:03:04.:03:05.

People have been warned to watch out for flooding in places.

:03:06.:03:12.

Next, it's not often you get to talk to an astronaut,

:03:13.:03:15.

but that's exactly what Hayley managed to do earlier this week.

:03:16.:03:18.

She was in Moscow in Russia to speak to Major Tim Peake.

:03:19.:03:21.

They chatted about the training he's been doing ahead of his trip to

:03:22.:03:24.

the International Space station, which blasts off next month.

:03:25.:03:26.

We asked you for questions for Tim and he answered as many

:03:27.:03:29.

How do you feel about being the first British astronaut to head to

:03:30.:03:48.

the International Space Station? I am proud to be the first Brit to go

:03:49.:03:52.

to the space station, I was also really inspired by Helen Sharman,

:03:53.:03:54.

the first British astronaut in space.

:03:55.:04:01.

Max, going to space takes a long time to plan and prepare for, I was

:04:02.:04:05.

assigned to have years ago. That is how long I have been training but I

:04:06.:04:09.

have been an astronaut for six years and all of that time has been

:04:10.:04:16.

training and preparing for space. I need most of the food we eat in

:04:17.:04:22.

space which is a set menu that is given to us but we have a small

:04:23.:04:25.

percentage called bonus food, this is the exciting food that Heston

:04:26.:04:30.

Blumenthal has prepared for us which we are really looking forward to.

:04:31.:04:39.

I am most looking forward to the view of planet F, we have a

:04:40.:04:44.

wonderful at facing window, so to go there and actually watch the ethical

:04:45.:04:51.

buy at 17,000 mph will be wonderful. One of what -- what am

:04:52.:04:55.

most spreading? Not having a hot shower for six months.

:04:56.:04:57.

Next, it was a record breaking night for

:04:58.:04:59.

All of your fantastic fundraising helped raise more than ?37 million,

:05:00.:05:03.

One Direction, Ellie Goulding and Star Wars favourites C3PO and R2-D2

:05:04.:05:10.

were among the many stars featuring in last nights extravaganza.

:05:11.:05:13.

The show was hosted by Dermot O'Leary - he stood in for

:05:14.:05:16.

Sir Terry Wogan, who had to miss the show for the first time

:05:17.:05:19.

That's all from me, Newsround's back just before 1.45.

:05:20.:05:26.
