Morning, I'm Ayshah, it's Wednesday, and you're watching me live

0:00:040:00:06

on Newsround. Here's what's coming up...

0:00:060:00:09

I'm in the French capital, Paris, to talk to children here

0:00:090:00:11

about the attacks that happened.

0:00:110:00:14

And in the UK, football fans in Wembley pay tribute to France.

0:00:140:00:21

But first to Paris, the capital city of France.

0:00:270:00:30

People in the country are trying get back to normal after an extremist

0:00:300:00:33

group, called Islamic State carried out several attacks there on Friday,

0:00:330:00:37

where more than 120 people died.

0:00:370:00:40

Jenny's been speaking to children in the city.

0:00:400:00:44

I love Paris because of its energy and inspiration.

0:00:440:00:47

Because there is always something to do.

0:00:470:00:48

It's a beautiful city.

0:00:480:00:49

There is every nationality.

0:00:490:00:51

It's such a lively and vibrant city.

0:00:510:00:53

But five days ago, all the things they love about Paris

0:00:530:00:56

were threatened.

0:00:560:00:59

After the attacks on Friday many schools were closed,

0:00:590:01:02

but now they are open again and I'm at one school in the city centre to

0:01:020:01:06

hear how children here are dealing with what happened.

0:01:060:01:11

I was actually in my apartment when it happen, so I heard noises

0:01:110:01:15

and I turned on the news right away to check what was happening.

0:01:150:01:20

More than 100 people called all six of us, because we are six at home,

0:01:200:01:24

to check if everything was fine.

0:01:240:01:25

The first thing I noticed first of all was that the streets

0:01:250:01:28

of Paris where empty.

0:01:280:01:29

I have never seen Paris like that.

0:01:290:01:32

The metros were empty as well, and there was lots

0:01:320:01:35

of military everywhere.

0:01:350:01:35

What's life been like, back at school?

0:01:350:01:37

The first thing I said to everyone when I came back on Monday was I'm

0:01:370:01:41

glad you're safe, I'm happy to see you, and it was more heartfelt than

0:01:410:01:44

I've ever said it.

0:01:440:01:45

I know some people and some of my friends who have lost really

0:01:450:01:48

important people in their lives, because of the situation that

0:01:480:01:50

happened, so we just tell them that everything is going to be fine,

0:01:500:01:54

it's going to be OK.

0:01:540:01:55

The teachers told us to move on and try and stay...

0:01:550:01:57

Yeah, move on, try to keep going.

0:01:570:02:00

Even though the students here are still upset, they told me they are

0:02:000:02:04

positive about the city's future.

0:02:040:02:07

I'm sure it probably is going to recover,

0:02:070:02:11

but it's going to need some time.

0:02:110:02:13

When that kind of big event happens, after a while everyone gets better

0:02:130:02:18

and I think the right thing to do now is just keep going.

0:02:180:02:22

Paris is really strong and no matter what is thrown at the city is going

0:02:220:02:28

to come back and it's going to be even more vibrant and is going to

0:02:280:02:31

come back and it's going to be even more vibrant and lovely than ever.

0:02:310:02:35

And last night a crowd of more than 70,000 people paid

0:02:350:02:37

tribute to those who were killed in the Paris attacks at a match between

0:02:370:02:41

England and France at Wembley.

0:02:410:02:42

The Duke of Cambridge and the Prime Minister David Cameron were

0:02:420:02:46

at the game.

0:02:460:02:47

Before kick-off, there was a minute's silence, flowers were

0:02:470:02:49

laid at the side of the pitch by Prince William and the opposing

0:02:490:02:53

teams' managers, and the crowds sang the French national anthem.

0:02:530:02:56

Wembley's arch was lit up in the blue,

0:02:560:02:59

white and red of the French flag.

0:02:590:03:02

The game ended 2-0 to England.

0:03:020:03:06

been happening in Paris.

0:03:060:03:06

And we've had loads of questions from you about what's

0:03:070:03:10

been happening in Paris.

0:03:100:03:11

We took your questions to the BBC's expert on this subject - security

0:03:110:03:14

correspondent Frank Gardner.

0:03:140:03:15

Aditya and Jaessia are asking:

0:03:150:03:17

The answer that so-called Islamic State have given is that it's in

0:03:170:03:18

The answer that so-called Islamic State have given is that it's in

0:03:230:03:26

retaliation, revenge for the French bombing of their positions in Syria.

0:03:260:03:33

But the French are doing that to try and protect the local population.

0:03:330:03:37

And Cara, who is eight, says:

0:03:370:03:41

The main point of the soldiers and police on the streets is to try

0:03:440:03:47

and partly to reassure the public, but also to put off any terrorists

0:03:470:03:52

who might think of maybe attacking again, and when they see the police

0:03:520:04:02

with the guns, hopefully they won't want to attack,

0:04:020:04:04

that's the main purpose of it.

0:04:040:04:05

So, Victoria who's ten, says:

0:04:050:04:10

There have been a number of attempted attacks, people trying

0:04:110:04:14

to do attacks in this country, but nothing like as big or as horrific

0:04:140:04:17

as in Paris, but smaller and still nasty attacks which the police and

0:04:170:04:21

the spies have been able to stop, but they say sooner or later there

0:04:210:04:24

is a chance that something might get through.

0:04:240:04:26

But I will say this, though.

0:04:260:04:31

The chances of you or me or at any of your friends being caught

0:04:310:04:36

up in it are very, very small.

0:04:360:04:37

Tiny, in fact.

0:04:370:04:40

There is a chance that there will be attack somewhere in Britain,

0:04:400:04:44

of some sort, probably quite small, but the chances of you being caught

0:04:440:04:47

up in it or involved at all are very, very small.

0:04:470:04:50

So don't change your way of life.

0:04:500:04:54

You can see Frank answering more questions right now on

0:04:540:04:57

the Newsround website.

0:04:570:04:58

That's also where to find out loads more about what's happening

0:04:580:05:01

in Paris.

0:05:010:05:03

And there's lots of advice on there too if anything

0:05:030:05:05

in the news upsets you.

0:05:050:05:08

Now to other news, a devastating drought is claiming thousands of

0:05:080:05:10

livestock and crops in south africa.

0:05:100:05:13

Temperatures have often been over 40 degrees and there has

0:05:130:05:16

been little rain for two years.

0:05:160:05:27

their animals hydrated.

0:05:270:05:28

Giant Panda Hua Jiao will be released back

0:05:280:05:30

into the wild this week.

0:05:300:05:31

She was raised at a conservation centre in

0:05:310:05:33

southwest China's Sichuan Province.

0:05:330:05:34

Hua Jiao has been learning important skills for living in the wild

0:05:340:05:37

like climbing and searching for food from her mother.

0:05:370:05:39

She is now the fourth giant panda the centre

0:05:390:05:41

has released back into the wild.

0:05:410:05:43

And we want your questions for diary of a wimpy kid author jeff

0:05:430:05:47

Kinney, he's joining us later this week so get to the website

0:05:470:05:50

and get those questions in.

0:05:500:05:52

That's all from me, Newsround's back right here in about half an hour.
