Hello. It's Saturday afternoon I'm Leah and you're live with Newsround.

We've got loads to tell you about so stick around for some of this

Amazing sand sculptures that are out of this world. And how do you like

your eggs? Kids in Germany get creative this Easter But first a big

rescue operation is underway on Mount Everest after an avalanche

struck yesterday. Thirteen local guides known as sherpas were killed

and three are still missing. The sherpas job is very dangerous but

without them hundreds of people wouldn't be able to reach the summit

of the world's highest mountain. Everest. One of the toughest

challenges for any human being. It's also one of the most dangerous. And

making it to the top wouldn't be possible without help from sherpas,

local people who are highly skilled climbers. They know the mountain and

its terrain very well and act as guides to ensure climbers' safety.

They carry kit, cook food and travel ahead to prepare routes. Climbing

the mountain can be very dangerous because of narrow cracks and

unstable rocks. There's also the lack of oxygen the higher you go. On

Friday morning a team of sherpas went ahead of a group of

mountaineers to check out the safest way up the mountain and to fix ropes

for the climbers. But an avalanche struck just above Everest base camp,

an area where people prepare before heading to the summit. It makes it

the deadliest accident on the world's highest mountain. Each year

more and more people are climbing Everest and there's concern that

more trips are putting the lives of sherpas at greater risk each time.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have visited an air base in

Queensland as they continue their tour of Australia. The royal couple

were welcomed by service men and women and Kate even climbed into the

cockpit of a jet. They also planted a tree at the bases memorial garden

to remember those members of the Australian air force who have lost

their lives. Snooker's world championship starts

today in Sheffield, but for the last year, the world governing body has

been taking a new version of the sport into schools. It's called

functional snooker and the aim is to use the game to improve basic maths

skills, and to tempt a whole new generation to take up the sport. The

BBC's Mike Bushell tried it out. Maths lessons. For many of us, they

leave us scratching our heads. Imagine if that lesson contains

support. A new form of snooker. The 10,000 students over the last year,

queues have replaced books. Functional snooker started a year

ago as part of a project run by the governing body. Steve Davis has been

sent in to demonstrate. We ramped up the maths. It can be changed to the

level of abilities. Each ball has a number was up the killers have

multiplication, subtraction or multiplication. You lose six pints

if you point the paint. That takes six points up your school. This

drive into schools will hopefully spread the sport with young players

as well. It is a lot of fun. It has helped me with my maths skills as

well. I believe my parting got worse. By punishment was to be an

assistant for a trick shot. Footy now and there are six Premier

League games kicking off this afternoon. Tottenham and Fulham go

head to head in the early kick off while Chelsea have the opportunity

to go top if they beat Sunderland. Current leaders Liverpool are in

action tomorrow against Norwich who sit just one place above the

relegation zone. Cricket and Lancashire's Peter Moore

has been confirmed as England's new head coach. Moore replaces Andy

Flower after being chosen ahead of England's current one-day coach

Ashley Giles and three other candidates. It's the second time

he's taken charge of the national side.

Now if you hit the beach this weekend do you reckon you could take

on a creation like this? About 5,000 tonnes of beach sand was used for

these creations at the Weston-super-Mare's sand sculpture

festival. This year's sculptures have a Once Upon a Time theme and

include works from The Hobbit. The sand show is due to run until

October. Now as Easter approaches children in

the West German town of Dissen have been busy preparing their eggs.

These guys had a mixture of wax, feathers and dye to jazz up their

creations. They also had to use lot of patience for drawing on the small

dots before soaking them in colour. Great job! Well that's an egg-citing

way to celebrate Easter and you've been telling us your weekend plans

eating yummy chocolate! Jasmine is taking part in an epic Easter egg

hunt with her brother and sister. But says she's keeping the big eggs
