It's the weekend, Ayshah here with your headlines. Including a | :00:00. | :00:10.
record-breaking Sport Relief total. We take a look at the loos of the | :00:11. | :00:17.
future, that could change the world. First - just how important is your | :00:18. | :00:20.
toilet to you? We're being completely serious here, because for | :00:21. | :00:23.
lots of people around the world, a toilet is a luxury they don't have. | :00:24. | :00:27.
It's thought that 2.5 billion people on Earth haven't got a working loo, | :00:28. | :00:30.
and it means really serious diseases spread easily in poorer countries. | :00:31. | :00:34.
Now a big event is taking place in India aiming to invent the toilet of | :00:35. | :00:38.
the future, which could change the lives of billions. | :00:39. | :00:44.
We use them every day and probably couldn't imagine life without one. | :00:45. | :00:47.
But in the developing world, billions of people don't have | :00:48. | :00:50.
toilets. One of the main problems is that in some countries, there simply | :00:51. | :00:53.
isn't the water available to flush the waste away. Living without | :00:54. | :00:57.
toilets can lead to poor health and really serious diseases such as | :00:58. | :00:59.
cholera and typhoid. They're illnesses that we don't find in this | :01:00. | :01:05.
country - and they can be deadly. That's why the richest man in the | :01:06. | :01:08.
world, Microsoft founder Bill Gates is using his charity, the Bill and | :01:09. | :01:12.
Melinda Gates Foundation, to set a challenge for inventors to come up | :01:13. | :01:15.
with radical designs to make a new kind of loo that doesn't need fresh | :01:16. | :01:28.
water to make it work. We use the contraption like this to | :01:29. | :01:35.
carry the waste through the system. Solar power creates hot air. Then | :01:36. | :01:49.
the sludge covers these balls. And then it goes into this bag. | :01:50. | :01:54.
At the moment, these new toilet designs are still being developed | :01:55. | :01:57.
but it's hoped that with loads of experts working together they'll | :01:58. | :02:00.
invent a toilet of the future, to help make poorer countries healthier | :02:01. | :02:02.
and safer places to live. It was a record-breaking total | :02:03. | :02:06.
raised for Sport Relief last night - over ?51 million pounds! One of the | :02:07. | :02:09.
highlights of the night was Clash of the Titans, which saw Seb Coe's team | :02:10. | :02:13.
beat John Bishop's, going head to head with a sport packed programme | :02:14. | :02:16.
of track cycling, rhythmic gymnastics and synchronised | :02:17. | :02:18.
swimming. Even though her team lost, Helen Skelton said it was great fun. | :02:19. | :02:25.
When they phoned me and Bish said "come and play on my team", I | :02:26. | :02:29.
thought: yeah, all right, this will be a good laugh. But I didn't | :02:30. | :02:33.
realise I'd have to swim against an Olympian. I was petrified to get in | :02:34. | :02:36.
that pool alongside Amy Williams. But we had a really good time. Our | :02:37. | :02:39.
rhythmic gymnastics was probably the highlight. I had to throw the ball, | :02:40. | :02:43.
do a forward roll and catch it. The ball hit me on the backside, but I | :02:44. | :02:48.
just styled it out and pretended I still had the ball! | :02:49. | :02:50.
All today you've been telling us your favourite moments. | :02:51. | :03:06.
Thanks so much for all those comments. | :03:07. | :03:13.
Next, we're in the year of code - a big effort to get you guys learning | :03:14. | :03:17.
the language of computers. One way is through code clubs - special | :03:18. | :03:20.
after-school classes where experts teach how to build apps and make | :03:21. | :03:24.
games! The aim is to get one in every single school - it's a big | :03:25. | :03:28.
task that needs the help of a very important person. | :03:29. | :03:31.
It was a very competitive line-up and an even tougher panel. Among the | :03:32. | :03:35.
hopefuls to be patron of Code Club were: Skype founder, Niklas | :03:36. | :03:40.
Zennstrom. Why would you like to work at Code Club? | :03:41. | :03:48.
I made some software, called Skype. The brains behind YouTube, Chad | :03:49. | :03:51.
Hurley. And even the man who invented the Web, Tim Berners-Lee. | :03:52. | :03:54.
What would you bring to the table? I invented the World Wide Web. | :03:55. | :03:58.
But they did not make the mark. Only one man did. | :03:59. | :04:03.
I suppose I know some influential people. | :04:04. | :04:04.
Like who? My mother. | :04:05. | :04:07.
ALL: You're hired! Prince Andrew has been patron of | :04:08. | :04:13.
Code Club since 2012. But how has he been doing? | :04:14. | :04:17.
Since you were hired as patron of Code Club, what have you brought to | :04:18. | :04:19.
the role? I have brought quite a lot, | :04:20. | :04:22.
actually. Encouraging people to take up coding. And that's really | :04:23. | :04:25.
important. Young people should look and see where their local Code Club | :04:26. | :04:32.
is and join it. You were the first Royal to write | :04:33. | :04:36.
some code. Have you talked any other Royals? I have not, as a matter of | :04:37. | :04:45.
fact. That is partly because I have not had the time to do it. I work | :04:46. | :04:53.
for Code Club two of them. Tell me about what you're doing. | :04:54. | :05:00.
Well, we are trying to make this flapping bird. What else have you | :05:01. | :05:10.
learned? I have learned to make games. | :05:11. | :05:16.
From September, young people will be taught how to use code in class. | :05:17. | :05:22.
Sport now: there's a massive showdown in the Premier League at | :05:23. | :05:25.
lunch time. Arsenal against Chelsea will be Arsene Wenger's 1000th game | :05:26. | :05:28.
in charge of the Gunners. He's called it the biggest game of the | :05:29. | :05:33.
season for his side. Unfortunately, there is also a lot | :05:34. | :05:37.
of suffering in 1000 games. What you want is the next moment of | :05:38. | :05:40.
happiness. That means you're always looking forward to the next game, | :05:41. | :05:44.
which will hopefully bring a moment of happiness. | :05:45. | :05:54.
Last Newsround update before 2pm - see you then. | :05:55. | :06:01. |
