Hi, I'm Ricky with your Saturday morning Newsround. | 0:00:04 | 0:00:06
Coming up: | 0:00:06 | 0:00:08
Martin goes dolphin watching in Wales and... | 0:00:08 | 0:00:12
The woman who caught Usian Bolt's shoe. | 0:00:12 | 0:00:23
First up, it's the last day of the Anniversary | 0:00:24 | 0:00:27
Games in London today. | 0:00:27 | 0:00:28
Last night, Usain Bolt won the 200 metres on his return | 0:00:28 | 0:00:30
to the track where he won Olympic Gold four years ago. | 0:00:30 | 0:00:34
The Jamaican has struggled with an injury but last night | 0:00:34 | 0:00:38
he proved that he's still got what it takes. | 0:00:38 | 0:00:40
But Bolt said he's still got some way to go to be fully fit | 0:00:40 | 0:00:43
for the Rio Olympics next month. | 0:00:43 | 0:00:50
I'm training, I'm doing pretty well, everything's going smooth. | 0:00:50 | 0:00:54
But I can tell that I need races, it's just one of those things. | 0:00:54 | 0:00:57
How are you going to do that? | 0:00:57 | 0:01:00
Just go to Rio and like last year, just run. | 0:01:00 | 0:01:02
That's what I have to do. | 0:01:02 | 0:01:05
Continue training and continue pushing myself in training. | 0:01:05 | 0:01:07
Hopefully, it'll all come together. | 0:01:07 | 0:01:10
And take a look at this. | 0:01:10 | 0:01:12
After winning the 200 metres, Usain Bolt threw his shoes | 0:01:12 | 0:01:15
into the crowd. | 0:01:15 | 0:01:16
The woman who caught them couldn't believe her luck! | 0:01:16 | 0:01:19
She's now the owner of a sweaty pair of Bolt's trainers. | 0:01:19 | 0:01:24
Well, from one record holder to another. | 0:01:24 | 0:01:26
Kendra Harrison from the US broke the 28-year- old 100 metre hurdles | 0:01:26 | 0:01:29
world record with a new quickest time of 12.2 seconds. | 0:01:29 | 0:01:33
But get this - that's Kendra's highlight of her summer | 0:01:33 | 0:01:36
as the American won't be going to the Olympics | 0:01:36 | 0:01:41
after failing at the US trials. going to the Olympics | 0:01:41 | 0:01:44
Cycling now and Britain's Chris Froome is on his way | 0:01:44 | 0:01:47
to winning his third Tour De France in four years. | 0:01:47 | 0:01:49
This is despite the fact he crashed yesterday and had | 0:01:49 | 0:01:52
to borrow a teammate's bike to finish the race. | 0:01:52 | 0:01:56
Luckily for him, his closest challenger also crashed. | 0:01:56 | 0:01:59
After getting back on his bike, Froome managed to increase his | 0:01:59 | 0:02:01
lead to whopping four minutes, 11 seconds. | 0:02:01 | 0:02:05
The final stage will take place in the French | 0:02:05 | 0:02:08
capital Paris on Sunday. | 0:02:08 | 0:02:10
Football now and the new England manager was finally | 0:02:10 | 0:02:13
confirmed yesterday. | 0:02:13 | 0:02:14
The Football Association finally confirmed Sam Allardyce has been | 0:02:14 | 0:02:17
given a two year contract to lead the English team. | 0:02:17 | 0:02:21
The former Sunderland and West Ham manager seemed pretty happy | 0:02:21 | 0:02:23
with his new job. | 0:02:23 | 0:02:28
Get that smile! | 0:02:28 | 0:02:30
I can't imagine we can't get that smile. | 0:02:30 | 0:02:33
Excuse me, I can't stop smiling cos I've got this job. | 0:02:33 | 0:02:36
This is a job I've waited for for many, many years and I'm | 0:02:36 | 0:02:39
absolutely delighted that I'm now sat in this privileged position | 0:02:39 | 0:02:43
of being the England national team manager. | 0:02:43 | 0:02:47
It's going to be a great thrill for me to take the team forward | 0:02:47 | 0:02:51
from the nation's point of view and hopefully make everybody | 0:02:51 | 0:02:54
so proud of the England team again. | 0:02:54 | 0:02:58
Finally, each year scientists at the Sea Watch foundation lead | 0:02:58 | 0:03:00
a week-long campaign at the start of the summer holidays to get | 0:03:00 | 0:03:03
you guys and grown-ups out and about around the UK | 0:03:03 | 0:03:06
to spot wildlife. | 0:03:06 | 0:03:08
We've sent Martin to Cardigan Bay in Wales to join in with some | 0:03:08 | 0:03:12
young dolphin spotters. | 0:03:12 | 0:03:15
Cardigan Bay - | 0:03:15 | 0:03:17
a coast dotted by fishing villages, seaside resorts and | 0:03:17 | 0:03:20
beautiful stretches of beach. | 0:03:20 | 0:03:23
But perhaps it's best known as the home of the UK's largest | 0:03:23 | 0:03:26
population of Bottlenose dolphins. | 0:03:26 | 0:03:31
Over the past 40 years, whales, dolphins and harbour porpoises have | 0:03:31 | 0:03:34
been monitored by scientists and volunteers all around the coast. | 0:03:34 | 0:03:39
And today, I've joined these guys who are taking part | 0:03:39 | 0:03:42
in an annual organised watch here on the Welsh coast. | 0:03:42 | 0:03:47
Seawatch's conservation work hopes to improve the protection of whales | 0:03:47 | 0:03:50
and dolphins around Britain and Ireland by keeping | 0:03:50 | 0:03:54
track of and identifying the individuals here. | 0:03:54 | 0:04:00
Despite two hours at sea, not one dolphin appeared. | 0:04:00 | 0:04:04
But that didn't stop these guys who are back on land to try | 0:04:04 | 0:04:07
things a different way. | 0:04:07 | 0:04:10
I've looked out there about five times and every time, | 0:04:10 | 0:04:13
I'm convinced that I've seen a dolphin. | 0:04:13 | 0:04:14
It's not, it's a wave. | 0:04:14 | 0:04:17
Despite the disappointment so far, how are they feeling? | 0:04:17 | 0:04:20
I quite like doing this sort of thing but I haven't really | 0:04:20 | 0:04:23
done it much before. | 0:04:23 | 0:04:25
I felt quite disappointed that we didn't see a dolphin but I'm | 0:04:25 | 0:04:28
hoping that we'll see one later today. | 0:04:28 | 0:04:30
I was really, really hoping to see one out in the wild | 0:04:30 | 0:04:33
and jumping out of the waves. | 0:04:33 | 0:04:36
29 species of whale, dolphin and porpoise have been | 0:04:36 | 0:04:38
recorded in our seas. | 0:04:38 | 0:04:41
13 species identified during whale and dolphin watches like this one. | 0:04:41 | 0:04:44
So why is this so important? | 0:04:44 | 0:04:50
Basically, we want to know what's out there. | 0:04:50 | 0:04:52
We want to know where are they and when are they. | 0:04:52 | 0:04:55
We need as many eyes as possible on the sea over the national whale | 0:04:55 | 0:04:58
and dolphin watch and so, we'd like to encourage as many | 0:04:58 | 0:05:01
people as possible to do that. | 0:05:01 | 0:05:02
If anyone can go out there with their families and do | 0:05:02 | 0:05:05
watches over that nine day period that starts on Saturday, | 0:05:05 | 0:05:07
then the more the better. | 0:05:07 | 0:05:10
The more data we get on dolphins and the more information | 0:05:10 | 0:05:12
that we have to protect them. | 0:05:12 | 0:05:15
We've now been looking for dolphins for six hours | 0:05:15 | 0:05:17
and we haven't seen one. | 0:05:17 | 0:05:19
Dolphins! | 0:05:19 | 0:05:21
Woo-hoo! | 0:05:21 | 0:05:23
They're playing round these two white buoys right there. | 0:05:23 | 0:05:26
They seem to be really close. | 0:05:26 | 0:05:29
This morning we didn't get any luck and I was quite disappointed | 0:05:29 | 0:05:32
and I really wanted to see a dolphin by the end of the day and it just | 0:05:32 | 0:05:36
shows that if you have patience and you wait and you look, | 0:05:36 | 0:05:38
you will find it in the end. | 0:05:38 | 0:05:42
It was well worth it. | 0:05:42 | 0:05:44
There it is again. | 0:05:44 | 0:05:46
That's all from me, but if you want to find out more | 0:05:46 | 0:05:49
about a record breaking hot air balloonist then head online | 0:05:49 | 0:05:52
where you'll also find the rest of today's top stories. | 0:05:52 | 0:05:54
See you just before 2. Bye. | 0:05:54 | 0:06:02 |
