And what is this seal doing sunbathing in New Zealand? | 0:00:14 | 0:00:22
But first to Calais in France, where demolition is starting today | 0:00:24 | 0:00:27
on one of the biggest migrant and refugee camps in Europe. | 0:00:27 | 0:00:32
Many people have been living in the Jungle camp | 0:00:32 | 0:00:34
while they try to travel to the UK. | 0:00:34 | 0:00:36
So what happens to them now? | 0:00:36 | 0:00:38
I've been finding out. | 0:00:38 | 0:00:41
This is the Calais migrant camp, also known as the Jungle. | 0:00:41 | 0:00:46
For thousands of people, it's somewhere they called home - | 0:00:46 | 0:00:49
but not any more. | 0:00:49 | 0:00:53
Over the last few years, this makeshift camp, | 0:00:53 | 0:00:55
made from tents and huts, has been getting bigger. | 0:00:55 | 0:01:00
Conditions inside the camp are poor, and lots of those | 0:01:00 | 0:01:02
affected are children. | 0:01:02 | 0:01:05
According to charities, around 10,000 migrants, | 0:01:05 | 0:01:08
including 1000 children, have settled here. | 0:01:08 | 0:01:12
Many have escaped war and poverty in countries like Syria, | 0:01:12 | 0:01:14
Afghanistan and parts of Africa. | 0:01:14 | 0:01:19
Local people in Calais have been campaigning | 0:01:19 | 0:01:21
for the Jungle to close down, and the French government has | 0:01:21 | 0:01:24
also come under fire. | 0:01:24 | 0:01:30
The reason thousands of migrants have travelled to Calais | 0:01:30 | 0:01:32
is because it's close to the UK. | 0:01:32 | 0:01:34
Many believe they would have a better quality of life here. | 0:01:34 | 0:01:36
Some try to jump on the back of lorries and hide on board ferries | 0:01:36 | 0:01:40
heading to England. | 0:01:40 | 0:01:41
The journey is dangerous and illegal. | 0:01:41 | 0:01:47
Earlier this year, authorities in France announced | 0:01:47 | 0:01:48
they would close the camp. | 0:01:48 | 0:01:50
They want to move the remaining migrants to official | 0:01:50 | 0:01:52
centres all over France, where they say the conditions will | 0:01:52 | 0:01:55
better, but many of the migrants and refugees don't want to go. | 0:01:55 | 0:02:05
Around 100 children from the camp, some of whom have family | 0:02:07 | 0:02:10
in the UK and some who don't, are being bought here | 0:02:10 | 0:02:13
to start a new life. | 0:02:13 | 0:02:13
The camps will be completely demolished by the end of this year. | 0:02:13 | 0:02:17
It's still unclear where all the migrants will go and some groups | 0:02:17 | 0:02:19
say they're still worried for the welfare of those who risked | 0:02:19 | 0:02:22
everything to get here. | 0:02:22 | 0:02:24
And if you want to know more about the children travelling | 0:02:24 | 0:02:26
by themselves across Europe, there's a guide at Newsround online. | 0:02:26 | 0:02:34
And if hearing about this story upsets you, we've got advice online. | 0:02:34 | 0:02:43

Both celebs got the lowest number of votes from the public. | 0:02:51 | 0:02:53

On The X Factor, Relley C and Four Of Diamonds faced each | 0:02:56 | 0:02:59
other in the sing-off. | 0:02:59 | 0:03:00
A strong performance from both acts, but the judges decided | 0:03:00 | 0:03:02
to save the girl band and send Relley C home. | 0:03:02 | 0:03:06

And the award for 'worst return visit to their former club' has | 0:03:25 | 0:03:28
to go to Jose Mourinho. | 0:03:28 | 0:03:29
The ex-Chelsea manager ended up having to apologise to his new team, | 0:03:29 | 0:03:32
Manchester United, after they lost a humiliating 4-0 | 0:03:32 | 0:03:34
at Stamford Bridge. | 0:03:34 | 0:03:36
Less than a minute into the game against Chelsea, a slip-up | 0:03:36 | 0:03:38
from United's defence let Pedro sneak a goal. | 0:03:38 | 0:03:41
Kante was next, and it went downhill from there. | 0:03:41 | 0:03:45
Now let's up the pace. | 0:03:45 | 0:03:52
Schoolkids across the UK are going head-to-head | 0:03:52 | 0:03:53
to try to build and race the fastest car they can. | 0:03:53 | 0:03:56
Want to know more? | 0:03:56 | 0:03:57
Here's one of them. | 0:03:57 | 0:03:58
This is Bloodhound. | 0:03:58 | 0:03:59
A year from now, it will be attempting to reach 1000 mph, | 0:03:59 | 0:04:02
breaking the landspeed record, travelling faster than | 0:04:02 | 0:04:04
the speed of sound. | 0:04:04 | 0:04:06
Today, we're building our very own Bloodhound. | 0:04:06 | 0:04:08
My name's Alex, and me and my classmates are part of a big | 0:04:08 | 0:04:12
competition to build the fastest foam car in the UK. | 0:04:12 | 0:04:21
First, we've got to design our car. | 0:04:21 | 0:04:26
The aim is to make it as fast as possible. | 0:04:26 | 0:04:28
Ours won't be as fast as the Bloodhound. | 0:04:28 | 0:04:30
That's what the teachers hope, anyway. | 0:04:30 | 0:04:34
I think this is going to be the winning idea. | 0:04:34 | 0:04:38
Once we've added the wheels and wings, all that's | 0:04:38 | 0:04:41
left to do is name it. | 0:04:41 | 0:04:44
I think we should call it Steven The Angel. | 0:04:44 | 0:04:46
I like it. | 0:04:46 | 0:04:49
We've built our car now. | 0:04:49 | 0:04:50
I think I fancy our chances. | 0:04:50 | 0:04:57
Thank you. | 0:04:57 | 0:04:59
Check that out. | 0:04:59 | 0:05:03
Everybody, here we go. | 0:05:03 | 0:05:04
Five, four, three, two, one! | 0:05:04 | 0:05:08
Big round of applause for Lightning Star, car | 0:05:11 | 0:05:19
number one, at 47.2. | 0:05:19 | 0:05:20
Unfortunately we lost and Lightning Star won | 0:05:20 | 0:05:23
with 47 miles-an-hour, but it's been a great experience | 0:05:23 | 0:05:27
and I had lots of fun. | 0:05:27 | 0:05:28
Bye, Newsround. | 0:05:28 | 0:05:30
THEY SHOUT: Newsround! | 0:05:30 | 0:05:34
Super speedy to super sleepy - this creature doesn't | 0:05:34 | 0:05:36
like to follow the crowd. | 0:05:36 | 0:05:39
This leopard seal has made a harbour in Auckland, New Zealand, | 0:05:39 | 0:05:42
her home for almost a year and now, instead of heading south | 0:05:42 | 0:05:45
for the Antarctic summer, she's decided to stay put | 0:05:45 | 0:05:47
in warmer waters. | 0:05:47 | 0:05:48
Marine biologists say the behaviour could be a world first. | 0:05:48 | 0:05:56
That's all from me, but come back at 4.20pm, | 0:05:56 | 0:06:02 |
