Good morning, I'm Jenny, live, with your Saturday Newsround

0:00:060:00:08

on day three of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

0:00:080:00:11

It's one of the busiest days of the competition with 29 gold

0:00:110:00:14

medals up for grabs today.

0:00:140:00:16

The action's already underway with Australia just beating England

0:00:160:00:19

by a single point in the netball.

0:00:190:00:22

But the home nations will be hoping to keep up yesterday's huge success.

0:00:220:00:29

The medals keep coming for the home nations in the pool.

0:00:290:00:32

There were golds for England's Chris Walker-Hebborn in the 100m

0:00:320:00:35

backstroke, and Scotland's Daniel Wallace, who stormed to victory in

0:00:350:00:38

the men's 400m individual medley.

0:00:380:00:43

But at just 19 years old, it was Ben Proud who stood out as he broke the

0:00:430:00:48

British and Commonwealth record to win the 50m Butterfly for England.

0:00:480:00:54

I don't know what to say.

0:00:540:00:59

I realised it has come off.

0:00:590:01:02

I am beyond excited.

0:01:020:01:06

In the velodrome, cycling legend Joanna Rowsell, won the 3,000 metre

0:01:060:01:10

individual pursuit for England.

0:01:100:01:13

But team mate Jason Kenny had to settle for silver

0:01:130:01:15

in the men's sprint.

0:01:150:01:18

The crowd saved their biggest cheers for Scottish

0:01:180:01:20

Para-cyclist, Neil Facky, and his pilot Craig MacLean, who stormed

0:01:200:01:22

to victory in the men's 1,000 metre tandem time trial, for blind

0:01:220:01:25

and visually impaired athletes.

0:01:250:01:31

Elsewhere, the home nations continued to dominate the judo,

0:01:310:01:34

with England picking up three gold medals yesterday.

0:01:340:01:38

Owen Livesey, Danny Williams and Megan Fletcher

0:01:380:01:41

all triumphed while Scotland's Sarah Clark won the women's 63kg final.

0:01:410:01:47

And there was good news for Wales as Francesca Jones took the silver

0:01:470:01:51

medal in the rhythmic gymnastics individual all-around final.

0:01:510:01:54

The question is - can the home nations keep it up with

0:01:540:01:57

more medals, today?

0:01:570:02:13

Now these Games have thrust Glasgow into the world spotlight

0:02:130:02:16

like never before.

0:02:160:02:17

So we asked the kids of Scotland's biggest city to tell us what makes

0:02:170:02:21

their home so special.

0:02:210:02:24

I love Glasgow because there's so many things to see,

0:02:240:02:27

like the Armadillo.

0:02:270:02:29

I am never bored here and I love it.

0:02:290:02:36

It is a beautiful city.

0:02:360:02:37

The people are so friendly.

0:02:370:02:39

There's loads of things to do.

0:02:390:02:42

It is quite homely and everybody is so kind.

0:02:420:02:46

It is rainy and I like the rain!

0:02:460:02:52

I am excited to see lots of world-class athletes coming from

0:02:520:02:54

Commonwealth countries to our city.

0:02:540:02:56

It will encourage people to do more sport.

0:02:560:02:59

The people from Glasgow will become more sportier.

0:02:590:03:03

Everybody around the world coming to Glasgow and it will be hard

0:03:030:03:07

for my mum to park her car!

0:03:070:03:10

I will make lots of new friends and I'm excited.

0:03:100:03:13

I am looking forward to everyone visiting to see

0:03:130:03:15

how beautiful Glasgow is.

0:03:150:03:22

In other sports news, Chelsea fans are celebrating

0:03:220:03:24

after the club announced they've re-signed star striker Didier Drogba

0:03:240:03:28

on a one-year deal.

0:03:280:03:30

Drogba left Stamford Bridge two years ago after helping the Blues

0:03:300:03:33

secure their first ever Champions League title.

0:03:330:03:37

The Ivorian is Chelsea's fourth highest goalscorer of all time.

0:03:370:03:42

And for the second day today, giant figures are stomping through

0:03:420:03:45

a city in England.

0:03:450:03:47

This young girl and her dog, as well as her 25 foot tall grandma,

0:03:470:03:50

are wowing crowds of thousands as they walk their way through

0:03:500:03:54

sunny Liverpool all this weekend.

0:03:540:03:57

They're telling stories from history, to commemorate the

0:03:570:03:59

100th anniversary of World War One.

0:03:590:04:03

The giant girl was even giving rides to some brave kids, and it seems the

0:04:030:04:07

huge puppets have been a big hit!

0:04:070:04:11

After the massive success of last year's Doctor Who prom concert,

0:04:110:04:14

the BBC Philharmonic orchestra wants to bring classical music to

0:04:140:04:16

a brand new, younger, audience.

0:04:160:04:19

So they've turned to kids' TV shows, with the Cbeebies prom!

0:04:190:04:22

Here's Hayley.

0:04:220:04:26

You may recognise some of these tunes from your favourite

0:04:260:04:29

CBeebies and CBBC programmes.

0:04:290:04:32

But they don't usually look like this.

0:04:320:04:36

The BBC Proms is one of the world's biggest classical musical festivals

0:04:360:04:41

and it is hoping it can use some of the popular kids shows to get

0:04:410:04:45

a younger audience through the doors of the Royal Albert Hall.

0:04:450:04:49

I like them playing.

0:04:490:04:51

I liked the songs when Robert the Robot was up on those things

0:04:510:04:56

and we done that ding dong.

0:04:560:05:00

It is not only kids who are there.

0:05:000:05:02

CBeebies characters and presenters are getting involved

0:05:020:05:04

in the music, too.

0:05:040:05:06

The space is incredible because it's been here so long.

0:05:060:05:10

Fantastic and performers have performed here -

0:05:100:05:13

it has a real good ambience and it is the first of its kind.

0:05:130:05:16

It is exciting.

0:05:160:05:21

It is quite staggering.

0:05:210:05:23

Look at the place.

0:05:230:05:25

It is wonderful.

0:05:250:05:25

5,000 people all here for this, the first time it has been done.

0:05:250:05:30

My cogs whirring!

0:05:300:05:37

There is growing scientific evidence that learning an instrument can help

0:05:370:05:40

brain development.

0:05:400:05:40

I would hope it will open their eyes to the fact that real live musicians

0:05:400:05:44

play music they hear all the time and if that inspires them

0:05:440:05:47

to take up an instrument, great.

0:05:470:05:48

But the best bit about the Proms is just joining in with the music.

0:05:480:05:53

That's all from me, Newsround's back just before 2 o'clock, see you then.
