Morning everyone, I'm Martin with your Thursday headlines. Coming up

in the next five: It's school report day, with thousands of you taking

over the BBC's news services. We hear from reporters in the south

west of England on how they've been affected by the winter floods. And

find out why 1D's Niall was looking nervous yesterday. This is

Newsround. But first, on Newsround, you'll have

got used to the likes of Ricky, Leah and me telling you all about the

day's top stories. But today parts BBC News are handing control over to

you. Around 30,000 young reporters from over 1000 schools have been

given the chance to make their own reports on the stories that matter

to them. Robert Blake's Science College have this report on how

their area was affected by the winter floods.

The floods may have stopped making headlines but communities across the

country are still reeling in the aftermath. Earlier this year, parts

of Moorland near Bridgwater was flooded for the first time in its

history, leaving houses devastated and uprooting families from their

homes. This is the first time that 14-year-old Georgina has returned

home since the water subsided. I was in France. A friend contacted me

through social media. She said we had been flooded and everything. It

made me want to go home. Her brother tried to rescue what he could before

emergency services made them leave in the middle of the night. I had

only packed by close the day before. I had my hair dryer in my bag! I put

things in the conservatory thinking they were safe. It seems like a

waste of time. There is no chance of surviving this. When the rivers

burst their banks, over a quarter of the Somerset levels were flooded.

Despite 50,000 sandbags... And 62 pumps operating 24 hours a day, the

force of nature was too strong to hold back. The government may have

pledged more money to flood defences but for families here, it is too

little, too late. This is Robert Blake science college reporting for

Thousands of bird watchers took part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch and

now the results are in. Blue tits had their highest position since the

survey began in 1979. Sightings of starlings also increased but

sparrows are still the most common bird coming in the number one

position. Football now and Celtic secured

their third Scottish title in a row last night, after beating Partick

Thistle 5-1. Neil Lennon's side came out strong, with striker Anthony

Stokes scoring two goals. Amazingly, the Scottish Champions still have

seven games to play this season. Liverpool are back to second in the

Premier League, just one point behind Chelsea, after a 2-1 win over

Sunderland last night. Steven Gerrard opened up the scoring just

before half time with a free-kick, and Daniel Sturridge made sure of

the three points just after the restart. They have got the games in

hand. Obviously, they are out of the Champions League. Chelsea are strong

squad. For us, we are enjoying being up there. We have been improving.

And West Ham were gifted their first win in four games with this bizarre

own goal from Hull's James Chester. Sam Allardyce's men came from a goal

down to win the match but were still booed off by the crowd at the end.

And Andy Murray hasn't been able to defend his Miami Masters title in

Florida. He was knocked out last night at the quarterfinal stage by

world number two, Novak Djokovic. Just enough time to tell you to head

from Ireland who've made a contribution to Britain. Niall said
