We were just like a fresh piece of pizza. We would like a paddling pool

for the day. Well, this year also marks 100 years

since the outbreak of one of the biggest wars in history -

the First World War. Millions of people from around the

world were killed in fighting that lasted four years, but it was a

moment in Sarajevo, now the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, exactly

100 years ago today, that started a chain of events

which led to the conflict. The BBC's Allan Little sent Newsround this

report from the spot where the first 28th, 1914, was supposed to be a day

of celebration in Sarajevo. Franz heir to the throne of

the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Franz Ferdinand, the next Emperor himself,

was coming to visit. But not everybody thought this was a cause

for celebration. There was a young man, Gavrilo

Princip, a teenager, only 19 years old, was

standing on this street corner. He was part of a group of people who

were so angry they decided freedom for the country. Franz

Ferdinand's car was driving up When the car reached this corner, it

presented a stationary target to Gavrilo Princip.

Princip stepped forward, and his wife, Sophie. The Austrians

blamed the Serbs for putting Princip up to this and it escalated

into war. It started right here on this

Sarajevo street corner. After a rest day today, the World

Cup is back on and it is getting serious. Newsround has also been

looking at what life is like away from the stadiums in Brazil. It is a

country that has changed a lot in recent years. But there is still a

big gap between rich and poor. Welcome to real. --Rio. For many it

means living a life of luxury and young girls can have huge birthday

parties and balls. Tens of thousands of pounds splashed out on venues and

dresses and celebrity guests, all for 1 night. Julia and her friends
