Welcome to the week. I'm Ayshah with the day's biggest stories on the | :00:00. | :00:07.
way. The lucky baton bearers for the | :00:08. | :00:10.
Commonwealth Games find out who they are. | :00:11. | :00:16.
And could Liverpool be on the verge of their first league title in 24 | :00:17. | :00:18.
years? This is Newsround. Let's start with the news that one | :00:19. | :00:24.
of the UK's leading disability charities has told Newsround that | :00:25. | :00:27.
there are not enough clubs out there for kids with disabilities. | :00:28. | :00:30.
According to Scope many kids don't feel welcome at clubs and in some | :00:31. | :00:33.
cases even get turned away because of their disability. Here's Martin | :00:34. | :00:41.
with more. Whether you have a disability or | :00:42. | :00:46.
not, we know for lots of you, going to sports clubs or youth groups is a | :00:47. | :00:51.
big part of daily life. When I was growing up, I had a lot of physical | :00:52. | :00:56.
challenges and struggled to walk. But I always manage to get involved | :00:57. | :00:59.
with the social clubs that my friends went to. At for many | :01:00. | :01:04.
disabled kids, that is not the case. -- but for many. Lots of disabled | :01:05. | :01:12.
kids find it hard to take part in their local clubs, often because | :01:13. | :01:16.
they feel they are unwelcoming, or even sometimes they get turned away. | :01:17. | :01:21.
I wanted to speak to kids growing up with a disability to Dave. -- today. | :01:22. | :01:30.
People don't understand that it doesn't matter, you can still join | :01:31. | :01:35.
in with what ever clubs you want to. On a Saturday I go to a swimming | :01:36. | :01:39.
club, it is just for disabled people, I really enjoy it but I | :01:40. | :01:43.
would like to go to clubs where there are different people and not | :01:44. | :01:49.
just disabled people. It is not getting out there that is the | :01:50. | :01:52.
problem, it is just having places to go. The picture is mixed, but Scope | :01:53. | :01:58.
say that the people who run these clubs need more training to make | :01:59. | :02:01.
them more welcoming for disabled children. One of the UK's top | :02:02. | :02:07.
Paralympians doesn't agree with everything the charity says. I don't | :02:08. | :02:12.
agree with the statistic at all. There are so many clubs where you | :02:13. | :02:15.
can go along, make new friends, have a lot of fun and even if it is not | :02:16. | :02:19.
aimed at you, you can still join in. Next, the effects of climate change | :02:20. | :02:23.
have been debated for years but a major report on the subject has | :02:24. | :02:26.
warned it could have big effect on many areas of our lives in the | :02:27. | :02:30.
future. The study claims that rising temperatures could pose potential | :02:31. | :02:32.
threats to the health, homes, and food supplies of people around the | :02:33. | :02:35.
world. Some people have questioned how much human behaviour affects | :02:36. | :02:38.
climate change, but the United Nation's climate panel say the | :02:39. | :02:40.
report provides overwhelming evidence. But scientists, meeting to | :02:41. | :02:47.
discuss the subject in Japan, say there are things people around the | :02:48. | :02:51.
world can do that could reduce the effects. | :02:52. | :02:53.
Dredging will start start today on one of the areas that was worst | :02:54. | :02:56.
affected by the UK floods earlier this year. The Environment Agency | :02:57. | :03:00.
will start work on trying to reduce some of the causes of flooding on | :03:01. | :03:04.
the Somerset Levels. Dredging involves removing silt that builds | :03:05. | :03:07.
up in rivers to increase their capacity. Not everyone agrees it's | :03:08. | :03:12.
the best way to prevent flooding. The BBC's John Maguire is at the | :03:13. | :03:20.
dredging site. They have started some of the preparation works and | :03:21. | :03:24.
doing some test dredging. You can see the big rix, -- rigs, they are | :03:25. | :03:34.
the scoops that will scoop the silt and the mud out of the bottom of the | :03:35. | :03:37.
river. Footy news and Liverpool have the | :03:38. | :03:40.
Premier League title in their own hands after a stunning 4-0 win over | :03:41. | :03:44.
Spurs yesterday. Luis Suarez scored his 29th goal of the season to help | :03:45. | :03:48.
them on their way. The result means that if the Reds win their remaining | :03:49. | :03:51.
six games, including a crucial one against Man City, they will be | :03:52. | :03:55.
champions for the first time in more than 20 years. There are still a lot | :03:56. | :04:01.
of points to play for. We have got six games to go. You can only take | :04:02. | :04:07.
three points from each game. For us, it is focusing on the next game. | :04:08. | :04:10.
And in tennis Novak Djokovic saw off world number one Rafael Nadal to win | :04:11. | :04:13.
the Miami Masters. Djokovic completely dominated the match, | :04:14. | :04:16.
winning 6-3, 6-3. It's the fourth time Djokovic has won the title and | :04:17. | :04:20.
he was pretty pleased with the way he played. I am overwhelmed with the | :04:21. | :04:30.
performance today. It is incredible. I stepped in, I used | :04:31. | :04:34.
every opportunity I was presented with and I am very satisfied. | :04:35. | :04:36.
Finally thousands of people in Scotland will find out today if | :04:37. | :04:39.
they've been chosen to carry the Queen's baton in the run up to the | :04:40. | :04:43.
Commonwealth Games. Up to 4,000 people will be chosen as part of a | :04:44. | :04:47.
40-day tour through Scotland in June and July. All Scottish secondary | :04:48. | :04:50.
schools were allowed to nominate a pupil. At the moment, the baton is | :04:51. | :04:53.
travelling round other Commonwealth countries, soaking up the sun in the | :04:54. | :04:55.
Caribbean. That's your lot. Nel's here at | :04:56. | :04:58.
4:20pm with your afternoon headlines. | :04:59. | :05:02. |
