It's 4.20pm. You're live with me, Nel. I'll bring you news of the

:00:00.:00:09.

lucky kids chosen to carry the Commonwealth baton.

:00:10.:00:12.

Plus: The Harry Potter spin off coming to the big screen.

:00:13.:00:14.

This is Newsround. First, the impact of climate change

:00:15.:00:21.

on the planet has been debated for years. But, now, a group of

:00:22.:00:25.

scientists says they've worked out what the effects of rising

:00:26.:00:28.

temperatures might be. So, what are their predictions, and what could it

:00:29.:00:29.

mean for our future? These scientists, who work for the

:00:30.:00:35.

United Nations, say that the world will get hotter by two degrees

:00:36.:00:39.

Celsius over the next 20 to 30 years. It might not sound much, but

:00:40.:00:43.

the scientists say it'll have a big impact on all of us. They say warmer

:00:44.:00:47.

sea temperatures would mean many types of fish would move away from

:00:48.:00:51.

where they are now. They predict the amount of fish you could catch in

:00:52.:00:55.

the tropics and in Antarctica will be cut in half. It's bad news for

:00:56.:01:01.

humans, too, as, in many parts of the world, people rely on fish for

:01:02.:01:06.

food. The report also says changes in temperature and rainfall can

:01:07.:01:11.

affect crops. Rising sea levels could increase the risk of flooding,

:01:12.:01:14.

which could put farmers out of business, and again cut the amount

:01:15.:01:18.

of food available. Animals will also be affected. Some will begin to move

:01:19.:01:23.

towards higher ground, or towards the Poles, trying to get to cooler

:01:24.:01:28.

land, in search of food. As well as being tough on the animals, it could

:01:29.:01:31.

also impact the amount of meat available for people to eat. The

:01:32.:01:35.

report argues that poorer countries are likely to suffer more in the

:01:36.:01:40.

short term. But that no-one on the planet will be untouched by climate

:01:41.:01:45.

change in the future. They say the recent UK floods and the storms in

:01:46.:01:49.

America were early warnings of the effect of climate change. The people

:01:50.:01:53.

behind the report say that, once these changes happen, they cannot be

:01:54.:01:56.

reversed. But that humans are capable of dealing with some of

:01:57.:01:59.

them, by developing things like sea walls, and extra help for farmers

:02:00.:02:03.

affected by drought. Scientists have spent many years trying to convince

:02:04.:02:06.

people of the need to deal with climate change, but not everyone is

:02:07.:02:10.

persuaded. The United Nations hopes this report will be more successful

:02:11.:02:14.

in getting people to change their minds and habits.

:02:15.:02:19.

Next, one of the UK's leading disability charities has told

:02:20.:02:22.

Newsround that out-of-school clubs and activity groups don't do enough

:02:23.:02:27.

for kids with disabilities. According to Scope, there are not

:02:28.:02:30.

enough options for disabled children who want to get involved.

:02:31.:02:37.

Lots of disabled young people find it hard to take part in their local

:02:38.:02:43.

swimming clubs, youth clubs, drama clubs. Often, they feel they are

:02:44.:02:48.

unwelcoming or even they get turned away.

:02:49.:02:49.

But Paralympic champion Hannah Cockcroft doesn't agree with

:02:50.:02:52.

everything the charity says, and told us the types of things she did

:02:53.:02:59.

when she was younger. Swimming club, brownies, I signed up

:03:00.:03:04.

to the choir, dance classes, I did something different every single

:03:05.:03:08.

night. I do not agree with the statistics at all. There are so many

:03:09.:03:13.

clubs you can make friends at and have fun. You can still join in.

:03:14.:03:17.

That's Hannah's experience, but what about yours? Emily in Kent says:

:03:18.:03:27.

Keep those comments coming. And you can see Martin's report, as

:03:28.:03:34.

he meets kids with disabilities, back here at 6.50pm.

:03:35.:03:37.

Major movie news now. And a new big screen offering from the "wizarding

:03:38.:03:42.

world" of Harry Potter. The spin off book, Fantastic Beasts And Where To

:03:43.:03:46.

Find Them, is being turned into three films. Author JK Rowling will

:03:47.:03:50.

adapt the story, which is set 70 years before we meet Harry. But, as

:03:51.:03:54.

yet, no release date has been announced.

:03:55.:03:57.

Those movies will have to go a long way to match the success of Frozen.

:03:58.:04:02.

The Disney film's just broken the record for the most money ever made

:04:03.:04:08.

by an animated movie. It's smashed the previous record, held by Toy

:04:09.:04:11.

Story three, taking in more than ?600 million in cinema ticket sales

:04:12.:04:13.

worldwide. Finally, it's been an exciting day

:04:14.:04:21.

for hundreds of kids in Scotland who've been chosen as official baton

:04:22.:04:24.

bearers for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The baton's been on a

:04:25.:04:27.

global tour of commonwealth countries and is currently in the

:04:28.:04:30.

Caribbean. Today, hundreds of kids were told they'd be part of the

:04:31.:04:34.

Scotland leg of the relay in June and July. Robert was one of the

:04:35.:04:43.

lucky ones chosen BATON-ACT. I'm going to be doing it in my

:04:44.:04:51.

hometown, am overwhelmed. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

:04:52.:04:54.

There's more from Robert at 6.50pm, as well as news on England's new

:04:55.:04:58.

World Cup kit.
