Scotland has voted no to independence.

Good afternoon. Well, the news is just about starting to sink in. The

No campaign has one, but just over my shoulder, there are a load of Yes

Campaign is holding flags, still having their say. But it was the No

campaign which triumphed. I have some breaking news on this story, we

have heard that after losing the vote last night, Alex Salmond is

standing down as Scotland's First Minister and leader of the Scottish

National party. We will have more on that over the weekend. People stayed

up all night and there were huge cheers after a very, very long night

yesterday. Today is our day of destiny! The

people of Scotland have voted in record numbers on the future of

their nation. No, 10,004. No, 9,000, 951. Yes, yes. No. 194,000.

That was the result of the Edinburgh camp, it is a capital city here in

Scotland and as you can hear, these people now think the No campaign has

one. The official result of this referendum is a no. Obviously, the

party supported us and pulled through but it has been a great

experience and hopefully we can take stuff from it and move on. It was a

great atmosphere in the No campaign, everyone was applauding hadn't had a

really great and easy as and it was nice to be part of that. 1.6 million

of our fellow citizens voting for independence. I accept the result

and I pledge to work constructively and in the interests of Scotland and

the rest of the United Kingdom. We now have a chance, a great

opportunity, to change the way British people are governed and

change it for the better. A decision that has split the nation, there is

going to be happiness and disappointment throughout, but

hopefully there are plans and ways for Scotland to move forward and

evolve as it once did. Together, we can work for a better society and a

better United Kingdom. So it's been an unforgettable night

for Scotland and the UK. Hayley's got a breakdown

in the last General Election For the first time ever

in a UK referendum, We thought it would be close,

and it was. 45% of Scots voted yes to

independence but 55% voted no - That breaks down to

around 1.6 million yeses Thanks, Hayley. Some interesting

numbers. I am joined by first-time voters, Caitlin, who voted yes, and

Rory, who voted no. You have had a couple of hours, how are you

feeling? I am pretty absurd but the people of Scotland have decided.

What about you, Rory? --I am pretty upset. I wasn't actually that

connected with the whole thing. You think that teenagers are going to be

more interested in how the country is run? Definitely, my group of

friends have become so much more interested in politics over the
