GUITAR AND DRUMS PLAY

It was reported recently that Bernstein has banned

the version of his song America as performed by The Nice.

He's reported to have said that they'd turned it into an anti-American dirge.

We asked him if this was true.

This Echoplex, here... which, uh... What it does is it takes, it's like a tape recorder.

And it takes, the output signal is then fed back into the record heads, so you just get a repeated echo.

Uh, for instance...

And you can alter the strength of the repeats, the number of repeats, many more than that.

Or increase the speed at which the repeats occur.

So far that it almost in fact becomes reverb.

The weird and wonderful sounds of Soft Machine who next Saturday night

are appearing at The Rainbow, Finsbury Park.

Well, although perhaps not one of the best known bands in Britain,

it's true to say that Caravan are certainly one of the most consistent.

We've had a lot of letters asking us to show them,

GUITAR MIMICS LAWNMOWER

You hardly need a life history of this band except that, 13 years after its inception,

they're still going, albeit after countless numbers of different line-ups and break-ups.

Robert Fripp, its founder and guitarist, says King Crimson is a way of doing things.

The current way of doing things includes Bill Bruford on drums,

Tony Levin the acclaimed American bass player and Adrian Belew of Talking Heads on guitar.

The band's been working their way across the world over the past few months before coming to rest

here in Hammersmith, not a hundred miles or so from their base in Wimborne, Dorset,

which Fripp still insists is the centre of the universe. Please welcome King Crimson.
