Right, this is a music awards show, and we've had some music,

Our first award of the night is a brand-new one,

and there have been some incredible albums this year.

To present the first ever Radio 2 Album of the Year,

please welcome to the stage one half of the most famous twins in pop,

Matt Goss, and a singer so good they named her twice - Lulu.

Matt, you said you were reforming with your brother, the show sold out

in seven seconds. First of all, hello, everybody! You must have been

delighted. Ecstatic, we have just added another at the O2. And you

Radio 2 are giving this award this year,

because we, as a station, believe in the album.

We have been running an Album of the Week feature

for at least 20 years that I can remember,

happy with that! Yes, hello, everybody! It is me! As you have

gathered, I am not Adele. You are absolutely right, my mate Adele is

in LA, wrapping up the US leg of 30 DF, so she cannot be here, so she

sent me instead to accept the award on her behalf. -- her tedium. She

has given me a message to read out to you. Thank you for this award, I

feel a bit bad winning it when the album has been out for so long, but

nevertheless you know I love you, always have and always will. Then

she says she loves me, and then she has put Adele and big cases. --

kisses. I wouldn't like to say congratulations, it is an honour to

receive this award on your behalf, it is a beautiful album, you are a

deserving winner and you are an incredible mamba! The hardest

Such a big year, what has been the highlight of the past 12 months? To

play music for a living all around the world is quite a big award for

us. I became a father which was the highlight. We got nominated to the

BBC awards, three Grammys. Compared to becoming a father, it's just

awards, you know? The greatest award is I'm going to drive home to my

little baby girl now. That's wonderful. Thank you for being with

and forcing them to answer questions all in the name of entertainment.

you? I'm OK except time standing next to Ricky. He's crazy. That is

not a bad thing. Now you've upset me a little bit. What is the atmosphere

right? What have you seen so far back here? What haven't we seen?

Ooh. Not going to tell everybody, Ayew? Filthy. There's a Jacuzzi full

of jellybeans. No, it's pretty good actually, everybody is looking after

themselves but I think it'll go pretty mental later. Absolutely,

jellybeans and all. Lulu, you've had an incredible year, right? I've had

an incredible life. Yes you have, Babe. Still here, that's what you

are amazed at. I am in awe. What do you need to keep going? It's the

music, if the musicians can kill it and I can still smash it, and people

come in, it's the sweetest love affair. Killing it, smashing it, and

coming in. And that's what it feels like tonight, the energy, the love

affair? So nice, I saw my old mate Robbie which was brilliant and I

just met Emily Sandy for the first time. It's all going on. And Ricky

will be on later with some surprises later.

As well as the Kaiser Chiefs, we've got John Legend,

Craig David, Zara Larsson and Robbie Williams still to come,

Her debut album spent ten weeks at number one,

she's back dominating the charts all over again.

Adam you have spent much of 2016 performing as a solo artist,

How was that? Amazing, Queen has been very welcoming to me, and I

think there's more to come. We hope so. Keep your ears and eyes out.

Rebecca, who are you looking forward to seeing? I think Emeli Sande was

amazing but I'm looking forward to seeing John Legend. That's going to

be very special. So glad to have you both here. Over to you guys, Adam,

let's do this. Here, with some support from a few

celebrity fans, are the nominees for the BBC

Music British Artist of the Year. Big year for Adele,

I'm a fan of Adele as an artist, You know, she's a star

in the truest term. To be there to witness one

of her many crowning moments Adele is your post-break-up

mix you go to. "I'm in the pits

here, I need Adele." She's the hand that pulls

you back from the brink. Adele is like the Queen

of everything. This is by far the best

moment of my life so far. I've got so much respect for him,

producer, DJ and can do the vocals, and that's why I put

Calvin Harris in his own lane. I love Calvin Harris,

I think he's really talented, I saw him at Coachella in front

of a record-breaking crowd, and he knows how to

put on a good show. What You Came For with Rhianna

was just one of those tunes that as soon as you heard it,

you were moving. The man just keeps delivering

hit after hit after hit. At the beginning of my career,

I went on tour with them around Europe, and I was just so inspired

by their dedication to the fans. I became a massive fan of Coldplay

when they played the closing ceremony at the

London 2012 Paralympic Games. Head full of dreams this year,

you put the album on, and everyone is bouncing along

to one of the songs. When Coldplay put on a show, it's

like watching a moving art piece. Colours are flying everywhere,

people are screaming. They really are just warm

individuals who just appreciate people

coming out to watch them sing. He was one of those artists that

really strived to push the borders. and I think that's when

you become a legend. I love Bowie because he is

a completely eclectic, Somehow that man managed

to capture the moment that he was living,

and his dying too. That last album is just genius,

you know, to be facing what he was and still sort

of brought that out, I think it's just

complete inspiration. Jess Glynne, I think,

has got an amazing voice, And I think with Jess Glynne

you know who it is straightaway. The power she has in her voice,

with that kind of big soul vocal. Now she's doing arena

tours, amazing. Jess Glynne's lyrics

and her songs are very inspiring. Before my gold medal

winning race in Rio, which is a memory that

I'll never forget. OK, well, we've heard

from the famous fans. The BBC Music British

Artist of the Year is... Hold on a minute! Coldplay! Hello,

BBC Music Awards, we are Coldplay, we have just got told about winning

this beautiful Artist of the Year award, sorry we are not there, we

are about to go onstage in Australia. Look at those people! We

Now here at the BBC, as well as bringing you

big performances from established superstars like that,

we also promote the superstars of the future

It's a platform supporting the very best in undiscovered

and unsigned music and has helped the likes of Jake Bugg,

the 1975 and Florence and the Machine, amongst many others.

Our two previewed winners of this award are Jack Garratt and Catfish

and the Bottlemen. This year goes to one of the most stunning voices in

music, the beautiful Izzy Bizu. Her voice is unique. She's also got

an amazing stage presence. She's quite a pure voice,

so I love the jazz influences, I love the soul

and the simplicity of it. I'd describe my music

as quite soulful and quite funky. The album is quite positive

and uplifting. So White Tiger's very,

like, upbeat, whoo-hoo! And then Mad Behaviour's more,

like, really, like, chilled, and about things that I probably

wouldn't talk about to anybody. and I didn't know Emeli Sande

was there. Izzy Bizu came on stage and just

like shut the whole place down. She was using her voice in quite

an unconventional way, and I think she's an exciting

new talent for the UK. I think it was the first awards

show we'd ever played. The rise of the band has been

massively helped by it. The platform that BBC Introducing

offers young artists It's amazing to see it go to someone

making the kind of music that she's making without doing it in a way

that anybody would expect. I'm really thankful

for BBC Introducing. To back you at the start when nobody
